Explain the importance
of appropriate
selection of Project
Management (PM)
application systems in
regards to project
realisation
After going through the learning material discussed in week 5, I came
to know about the details of importance of accurate project
management application system selection in regards with project
realization. The list information contains in a project management
information system are project approval, project initiation, project
planning, scheduling, execution, monitoring and control and project
closure. In other word, it can be said that in order to execute any
project successfully within assigned time and budget the project
managers and project team members are required to follow the project
development life cycle stages sequentially. If any single stage is missed
then the project will fail to meet the primary objectives.
During the lecture class I have also come across the applications and
benefits of Enterprise Resource Planning in business operations. ERP
system also considers many other knowledge areas beyond time and
cost. I have learned that information collectively act as a key for
successful organizational decision making. An ERP system coordinates
resources, needful information and also takes variety of business and
projects purposes before implementing any project. I have learned
that, ERP system helps to increase the business efficiency however it
deals with finance, accounting, HR and overall project management.
This study material also deals with Key Performance Indicator (KPI). I
have leaned the differences between the value based stakeholders and
value based consumers. The asset management system applies by
project managers of IBM are also discussed in the class lecture
