MAIN BODY
The blood pressure as well as weight have a direct relation and thus affects the health of
large number of people. When the weight of the body increased the blood pressure increases. In
fact, people with overweight generally suffers from high blood pressure or hypertension.
According to the report of 2018, around 70% of the adults within Sri lanka were found to be
overweight and out of the 70% people nearly 60% were reported found to be under hypertension.
According to the survey of World health, service, prevalence of overweight and hypertension is
mostly found in the people between the age group of 30 to 40. The male as well as female
between the age 30 to 40 are likely to develop high blood pressure due to their overweight
(Ndanuko and et.al.,2017).
The National hospital of Sri Lanka have decided to create a dietary plan for patients
suffering from hypertension due to overweight. The major rationale behind hypertension in this
age group is the eating of unhygienic food as well as unhealthy food which often leads to
overweight. The major dietary requirements which this hospital is focusing upon is
Advising the patients to reduce salt in their diet. Eating lot of salt leads to retention of more
water and this results in overweight and hence hypertension.
Focusing more on green leafy vegetables and fruits like apples, apricots, bananas etc. As these
fruits contains more magnesium and less calories thus it will help to reduce weight and therefore
hypertension (Benmohammed and et.al.,2018).
