Carer’s support meeting in Doncaster witness a rather unfortunate yet unintentional
incident which led to social media policy distortion. The break of the incident took place when a
picture of one of our carer with her son was released in the social media without her consent. The
accused employee stated, “I am genuinely sorry for the discomfort that I caused for my colleague
friend and I am aware of the act that I committed. However, the social media policies and
guidelines are not very well accustomed by me otherwise I would not have been in this
situation.” The picture that was released led to some unwanted circumstances that the Carer had
to go through since the picture was revealed to the public. We honour the privacy of our
employees hence the secrecy around the incident will be kept intact.
“Social media policies are guidelines that must be abided by every employee so that none
of the others’ privacy is breached. It was careless of the accused employee to disregard the
policies instead of heeding them”, said our manager of WeKarre.
The social media guidelines are framed in such a way that does not ever discourage the
employees from taking off their interests from social Medias. However these guidelines ensure
that the privacy that every person feel entitled to is kept intact and if the opposite happens then
the doer is to be held responsible for the act. There are only a very few employees who are
selected to represent the whole organization and their posts will reflect the ethics and culture of
the organization. These people are selected on the basis of a sense of responsibility that they

have to bear for their organization and also the fact that they are well aware of each and every
policy of the social media usage in workplace.
There is a silver lining when it comes to the distinction of the world of social media from
the real life world with privacy. Their acts on the social media are a reflection of the organization
they work for even if they are not the selected personals to represent the organization. By
keeping in check the reputation of the company they are working for, they should raise
awareness of the work that their company is committed for; hence help the company to reach out
to a large mass of the audience making the objectives and goals of WeKarre distinctly clear. The
guidelines has specified mention of the consequences that has to be faced by the accused if any
sort of confidential information is shared via social media to any source. The consequences
include suspension, payment deduction and even termination based on the gravity of the crime.
As per the incident that took place in Doncaster, the employee had to suffer the consequence of
filling a penalty and it was ordered to take down the specified picture from the internet. The
Carer was generous enough since she did not press any kind of privacy violation charges which
would have led to a process of trial in the court of law.
