Introduction
This report focusses on well-visit gynecological exam on a 22 years aged woman, who
never had undergone through a vaginal or pap smear exam. This report will shed light on how
this woman would be convinced for going through pap smear exam. In this particular study, an
explanation on the assessments required for vaginal exam will be given here.
Discussion
Pap smear test is a test which is performed by doctors in order to detect cervical cancer
among females. Collection of cells from female’s cervix is done in this particular method.
Opening of a female’s vagina is termed as cervix. Cells from the cervix are usually scraped away
in a gentle way and them examination is for done for detecting abnormal growth. It can be stated
that the gynecologist need to show a diagram of cervical cancer to 22 years aged woman so that
she becomes aware of the importance of pap smear test (Medscape, 2018).
The gynecologist can use PowerPoint presentation for the woman so that she becomes
aware of this vaginal test that would help the gynecologist to detect the early symptoms of
cervical cancer in women. In addition to this, the gynecologist can give a demonstration to the
reluctant woman. The gynecologist will insert the speculum into the vagina of the woman in
order to identify the cervix (Shobeiri et al., 2016). After that, the gynecologist takes and twirls a
swab against the female’s cervix for some time in order to gather a sample of the cervical cells
required for the vagina test. After that, it is seen that closure of the speculum takes place and the
removal of speculum takes place from the female’s vagina. In this way, the entire test is done by
the gynecologist of the 22-year old women who was showing unwillingness to opt for pap smear
test (Ncbi.nlm.nih.gov ,2018). It has been observed that the gynecologist can use warm water for

smoothly inserting the speculum into the vagina of the woman. This will help the women to feel
comfortable while undergoing through pap smear test. It has been observed that the gynecologist
follows certain processes at the time of performing vagina test. First and foremost, step is to
interact with 22-year old female while undertaking vagina test. The next step is to make sure that
the female was sitting comfortably. After that, the gynecologist will wash his hands. This is
followed by setting up a trolley as well as opening a pap smear examination pack. After this, the
gynecologist will put on the gloves and start swabbing vulva from the front to the back. The
gynecologist will use a sterile lubricating gel for conducting this test in order to detect abnormal
growth of cancerous cells in cervix of the woman. After that, the gynecologist will use his dirty
hand for holding labia separately. The last step is to insert the ‘clean’ fingers in a downward as
well as backward direction into the female’s vagina (Rcm.org.uk, 2018). All the steps of pap
smear test will be orally communicated to the woman.
Conclusion
Therefore, it can be concluded that pap smear test can be used by gynecologist in order to find
out early symptoms of cervical cancer. This test can be made comfortable by gynecologist if
warm water is used in this screening test.
