INTRODUCTION
Well being is the sate of being happy. It is a health of a person in a mind, body and emotions
which is balanced through self care. It is a fundamental of overall health which helps to
successfully overcome from the past experiences, attitudes. Wellbeing at workplace is also
important where employees feel comfortable and work effectively (Wellbeing, 2020). Workplace
wellbeing relates to all the areas of their working life, quality and safety of physical
environment, climate at organisation and organisation culture. In this report discussed about the
wellbeing and how effective wellbeing affects the workplace, how mental health of a person
affects the workplace, reasons of poor health and well being of young people and impact of
workplace spirituality and employee well being.

Overview of Wellbeing
Wellbeing is how an individual feel from inside. It is a state of health in a mind, body and
emotions which is balanced through the act of self care. It is the feeling of being happy, health
and comfortable in own skin. Each person gave importance to different aspects of life, completed
their own value system and then they judge themselves and others by. Values and health can play
role in individual’s wellbeing (Hughes). Even health is the most important indicator. Health
plays significant roles in the feelings of wellbeing although this can’t be control every time
individual concerning with the health, at least individual does its best what he has to change the
mindset which makes significant difference in the sense of wellbeing. Wellbeing can improve by
doing meditation, reflecting on the positives, shifting perspective and through learning.
Wellbeing is important because it is a fundamental to overall health of an individual.
Wellbeing helps to successfully overcome difficulties and achieve to individuals goals.
Wellbeing can get impact from the past experiences, attitudes towards emotional or physical
trauma towards specific incidents. Wellbeing is important for the growth of the individual, if a
person is not feeling good from inside then it will affect on its work performance and this will
directly affects its growth. Wellbeing person like to socialise, interact with the society its mental
health increases, it builds its confidence and self esteem, increases the quality of life, increase the
health of brain and boost immunity and other physical health benefits.

Impact of wellness and mental ill health of the employee performance at the workplace
Employee wellbeing is very important factor considered by the companies. It is important
because it helps to reduced absenteeism and healthcare costs, increased employee engagement
and improved employee productivity and morale. To improve employees Wellbeing Company
has to organise regular health screening, providing healthy meals, psychological counselling
services and flexible work options.
Mental health includes social, emotional and psychological well being. It affects how we
think, feel and act. It is important at every stage of life. Risks to mental health at work place are-
not having proper health and safety policies, poor communication and management practices,
limited participation in decision making, no support to the employees, don’t have clear task and
objectives of organisation, mobbing and inflexible working hours (Donald, Johnson and Nguyen,
2019). Company has to create a healthy workplace by protect mental health by reducing the work
related risk factor, develop the positive aspects at work, arrange conference regarding mental
health awareness, supporting people with mental disorders at work.
People suffering from the mental health don’t receive any help for their disorders. Due to
concern about being treated differently they avoid or delay in treatments. Stigma comes from
lack of understanding or fear. Negative mental health impacts the workplace in many ways like
reduced its ability to concentrate therefore person can’t be able to complete the tasks, excessive
fears or worries, tired easily has low energy, overreact on the every small request like anger or
hostility and get highly sensitive. To overcome from this workplace has to create positive work
environment, provide psycho education in the workplace to reduce the stigma, communicate
effectively with the employees.

enhance the physical and mental health and well being of people at workplace. Workplace health
promotions says to improve the health resources in the enterprises by analysing and design of
human and organisational work levels (Barry, 2019). The health and well being of the
organisation can be achieved by the combination of improving working environment of the
organisation, promoting active participation and encouraging personal development. For
effective workplace health promotion different strategies used by the company include health

education, supportive social and physical environments reflecting health behaviour expectations
towards organisation, link health promotions programme and screening followed by counselling.
Work related stress is a growing problem around the world that not only affects the health
and well being of the employees but also to the productivity of the organisations. Other sources
stress like conflicts with colleagues or boss, threats of job security and constant change. Work
life balance is necessary for the effective health. With the work life balance person feels
harmony and satisfaction they spend on their time, energy and attention to both their professional
as well as to their personal life. Even at the organisation particular time is to be set for the
employees for to do the some physical exercise like if employees are working on the computers,
laptops continually company has to decide particular time where all the employees do the
exercise of hands, neck, shoulder and legs which refresh them and they will work effectively and
organisation has to encourage the employee to eat healthy food.
Reasons of poor health and wellbeing on young people
Young people are the future generation for the development of the country and their good
health and wellbeing is important factor. There are several health issues faced by the young
people are- Injuries-Unintentional injuries are the major cause of death and disabilities in the
adolescents. Over 115000 adolescents died because of road accidents in 2019. Most of them are
vulnerable road users. Violence is the fourth leading factor for the cause of death in adolescents
and young people in the world (García-Holgado, García-Peñalvo and Butler, 2020). Sexual abuse
and bullying is also a main reason which affects the health of the young people. Mental health-
Depression is leading factor for the illness and disability in among young people. Suicide is the
third leading reasons for the death in the young people. Violence, stigma, poverty can increase
the risk of developing the mental health problems. Use of alcohol and drug -Excessive use of
alcohol is the major concern in many countries. It leads to decrease self control and risky
behaviour. Because of use of alcohol and drug it leads to injuries, violence and premature death.
Excessive use of it leads to health problems and affects the life expectancy.
Adolescence is phase between childhood and adulthood, from ages 10 to 19. It is a
unique stage for the development and foundation of good health. In this phase adolescence going
through rapid physical, cognitive and psychosocial growth. Environmental issues such as
poverty, poor housing affects the health and wellbeing of the young people. Poor nutrition and

lack of physical activity affects the internal system of the person which leads to suffer from
various diseases.
Impact of workplace spirituality and employee wellbeing
Workplace spirituality is the framework that promotes employees towards organisational
values. It is about to finding meaning, value and motivation in employee works beyond pay
checks and performance (Garg, 2017). It is a sense of finding oneness and togetherness as a
whole organisation. Spirituality at work is sense of finding higher meaning, connection and
superiority. Workplace spirituality influence employees to stay with the organisation and their
wellbeing. There are various importance of workplace spirituality – it makes work more
interesting as there is no role conflicts and ambiguity, its improve development and learning
skills of the employee to be competent, it helps to derive some meaning and a sense of purpose
from their work and sense of belongingness and connection with the fellow workers.
Spirituality in the organisation gives positive impact to the employee towards their job
satisfaction, employee commitment and their work life balance satisfaction and towards their
well being. Employee wellbeing is also get better in the workplace spirituality as it helps to
reduce their stress, improve their productivity, improve their quality of life, it motivate them,
increased their morale and increase their job satisfaction.
CONCLUSIONS
From this report it concluded that wellbeing is the major factor which affects an individual
performance. If an individual is not feeling well than he/she will not react or perform well.
Mental health is major issues now days in every organisation. There are several reasons for
the poor mental health of the person include poor communication, not participate in the
decision making, no support to the employees, not having clear task and objectives of the
organisation. Workplace health promotions states to implement and design the health
resources in the organisation. Young people are the future generations of the country and
their poor health and well being is very crucial element for the country. Injuries, violence,
mental health and use of alcohol and drugs are some reasons for the poor health. Workplace
spirituality helps for well being of the employee which gives job satisfaction, work life
balance to the employees.
