of the board as a whole. Moreover, subcommittees are responsible for several council’s activities

A key achievement of the West Africa Examinations Council, other than the examination boards
and various examinations conducted by the council is the development of “Endowment fund.”
The board establishes an endowment fund in 1982 in Liberia. The two key reasons for the
establishment of this fund were the promotion of educational projects and providing yearly
lectures. As per the reports, the educational projects we're working on the purchase of learning
materials like books for less privileged children and donate books to overcome the problem of
students’ poor performance due to lack of reading materials. Another aspect considered for
educational projects were encouraging student who performs well through award giving to keep
them work excellently in further examinations as well. However, there were some of the issues
faced by the council as well. One of the recent issues faced was the failure of the council to keep
the curriculum challenging and rigorous (legit, 2019).
