Introduction
Scope management helps in maintaining the progression of pre-determined project activities. The
main aim of this report is to highlight the scope statement of a large and complex project named
WestConnex New M5 in Australia. The report will mention the work breakdown structure and
other significant information related to the project scope.

About the project
The New M5 project of Westconnex is currently running and aims at constructing a new twin
underground tunnel for a motorway from Kingsgrove to St Peter's. This is the twice of M5 East
Corridor capacity and will be of nine kilometres (Westconnex, 2015). This project involves the
transformation of a waste facility into a new interchange at the city of St Peters.
Scope Statement of New M5 WestConnex
The scope statement of the project is developed for detailing the project deliverables and project
objectives. The scope statement of New M5 WestConnex is as follows:

Additional information relevant to the project scope management
The project of New M5 WestConnex has been aimed for facilitating relief to the millions of
roads users who deal with the huge time consumed traffics. The project will not place any impact
on the current clearways on King Street, Newtown. The tunnels will be constructed with the
facilities such as ventilation facility, water treatment and access point for an emergency. It has
been identified that the chances of delay in project completion have been minimized since all the
activities have been running as per the schedule (Mirza, et. al., 2013).

Conclusion
Scope management is vital for the project success and it has been evident from the project of
New M5 WestConnex, Australia. The project has been experiencing scheduled working since it
clearly defined the project objectives, project deliverables, activities and constraints and other
aspects in the scope statement. Therefore, the project managers need to understand the fact that
support of the scope statement should never be underestimated.
