Western Sydney Freight Line Project: Delivery Method Selection Report

Introduction
 In a project management, there are many key components which need to be consider
while delivering a project.
 This includes project delivery system and contract management that might influence the
success as well as failure of a project in any phases of a project.
 Therefore, the present report also assists to develop a deep understanding regarding
different project management delivery systems in order to deliver a right project.
 The study based upon the existing project which is not yet completed. i.e. Western Sydney
Freight Line- Stages 1 and 2.

Background
 The chosen project is Western Sydney freight Line who is designed in order to protect the
land for future freight rail link between western Parkland City and Port Botany.
 It has been analyzed that Freight is a backbone of NSW economy and that is why,
proposed to make a connection between cities.
 In this, NSW government is also committed in order to establish a corridor for the future
and the expected price for this project is $1 billion.

the project performed.
 Organization’s background: Through this, project manager may provide a short overview of a chosen
organization on which the project has made.
 Project goals: In order to complete the project in an effective manner, it is necessary to establish a
goal.
 Scope: in this, project manager has to define scope through which project can be accomplish on time.
 Timeline and budget: In this, key element, project manager has to look after the end date of a project
and ensure that the project has completed with an assigned budget.

 The chosen project is entirely based upon the
construction and that is why, the preferred contract
type for this is Unit price contracts where the total
work required to complete the project into separate
units.
 Through this, contractor provides the owner with price
estimates for each unit of work instead of estimate for
project as a whole.

 Further, it has been examined that by delegating the work efficiently to each worker assist to implement
the project in an efficient manner. Also, this in turn helps to meet the deadline

Conclusion
 By summing up above study it has been concluded that Western Sydney Street Line is not yet
completed and with the proper support from the team members and project managers, the project will
be completed.
 The PPT has also summarized that there are many delivery and contracting methods which can be used
by the project managers as per their defined aim.
 In the context of chosen project, manager uses Construction Manager at risk in order to provide
effective experience to manage the project effectively
