The summary of the children’s book by Maurice Sendak focuses on the character of a
young boy named Max who causes too much trouble in his home dresses as a wolf so that his
parents send him to bed without giving him supper to eat. However, his bedroom changes
into an island of beasts named “Wild Things” with whom he goes on an adventure and even
becomes the “King of the Wild Things”. However, when he returns back home feeling
lonely, he finds a hot supper waiting for him.
Suitable for the Children:
The above mentioned book is a book that will be suitable for children from the age of
3 to the age of 5 years old. This is because of a number of reasons. Firstly, the children are
being imaginative in their nature. As a result, they will be able to listen with full
concentration ton the story that will be read to them by the reader. This will help the students
to imagine for themselves the colourful world with unknown animals of which they all could
be a part of the mysterious island with all the mysterious beasts which live on those islands
(Oittinen, 2013).
Where the Wild Things Are is a perfect example of a children’s story book because it
is being known by all that the children like mysterious as well as adventurous things.
Therefore, the more adventurous a place is, the children will be more tempted to visit such a
place (Sendak, 1963). Moreover, there are mysterious creatures which exist on the islands
