TASK 2
P3 Difference between organisational and individual training and development
One of the major differences between the individual learning and organizational learning
is that the individual learning deals with the personal development whereas organizational
learning creates an opportunity for the overall development, so that changes can be made in
organization in order to gain competitive advantage in the market (Mone and London, 2014).
Organizational learning is a collective learning process where special training is given to the
individual or group so that proficiency can be brought in the firm. Organizational learning
creates appropriate structure and strategies so that they can enhance the skills and knowledge of
the employee. In addition to this many of the firm even employs a leering officer that directly
report to the head of the firm. On contrast to this all individual training does not follow any
organized structure or strategies for the development, what really make the individual
development different from organization is that it is done for self improvement (Megginson and
Whitaker,2017). The main aim of the individual is not to bring competency in the firm but in
himself.
Individual development can be related to any subject or skill that the person want to
enhanced but same can't be said for organizational learning. The training provided in organist
ion is solely based on the development of organization. The training is provided so that
efficiency can be bought in the business entity (Marsick and Watkins, 2015). With individual
learning a person can choose a career in any field, the training provided by the organization is
good for professional development and can help the individual finding success in business
world.
The another major difference between this two learning is environment, the
organizational learning make sure that the employees get proper environment so that they can
sustain the knowledge that they have gain, this is not possible in individual learning,

organizational culture play really important role in learning. In organizational learning proper
culture is created so that proper learning can be provided to the employees (Woodcock, 2017).
Organizational learning not only provides well structured training and development program to
staff but also provided them with professional so that proper guidance can be provided to them.
In addition to this they also provide them better environment which is not possible in individual
learning. Other than this a proper evaluation method are also used so that improvement in
individual can be measured and maintained. This is not possible in the individual training; there
is no guidance or proper evaluation method that can help a person.
Organization training has emerged from the individual learning are interrelated to each
other. Organization training occurs when individual find gaps between expectation and
outcomes. In order to bring full efficiency in the firm. It’s necessary for the employee of the firm
to take initiatives. The staff member can take initiative so that they them self can improve their
skill behalf of the organization, it shows that individual need to learn about their mistake and
shortage before the entity so that they can bring efficiency in their working (Waters, Baughman
and Dorsey, 2016). Other than this organization can provide professional to the staff so that they
can improve that skill that need proper guidance. With better working environment the firm will
able to bring efficiency and effectiveness in their working.
P4 Role of continuous learning and professional development to drive sustainable professional
development
Learning Professional development
It is a process in which skills and abilities are
improved related to specific job role.
Here, knowledge and skills are gained which is
related to overall development.
In this learning is basically provided in
particular field.
Here, learning is provided which is not related
to any specific field.
It is provided through training programs It is provided through seminars, workshops,
etc.
Continuous learning can be described as various way through which individual can
continuously enhance their skill so that they can meet the changing need and demand of the
environment and can maintain their competency in this ever-changing environment (Wikman

and et.al., 2017). Continues learning play major role in professional development, with the help
of continuous learning an individual can have proper professional development that helps in the
career of individual.
Continuous learning in the organization can be obtained through shaping the team so that
they can adapt to the various changes in the department. It’s necessary of the team and individual
to have better adaptability so that they can remain up to date with the knowledge and remain
flexible so that they can adapt to change that is required. Promoting continuous learning and
investing in people has become more beneficial for the firm than hiring new employees, that is
much more costly (Van Dooren, Bouckaert and Halligan, 2015). By promoting the continuous
learning in the firm, the entity can create better development opportunity for their staff that play
important role in retaining valuable employee. By keeping the employee well trend and up to
date hip them in responding positively to various changes in the firm. It also plays major role in
earning the trust and keeping the interest of the employee. It also helps employer in showing
how worthy their staff is to firm by investing in them.
Providing employees with a chance of development and learning not only help
employees in enhancing their skill and bringing efficiency in their work but it also play major
role in retaining the staff and earning their loyalty ultimately boosting the productivity of the
firm. Company focus more on induction training and forget about continuous training that
become reason of their failure and leading to high turnover (Schippers, West and Dawson,
2015). In current time it has been recorded that employee evaluate job opportunities on the basis
of the growth opportunity that is providedby the firm. Therefore instead of focusing more on
induction training firms should start paying attention to the need of employee and create better
learning opportunity for the employees, so that they can grow personally and professionally.
In United State it has been recorded that the company with better learning program are
highly efficient and have the best performance. Through a research it has come forward that in
order to make employee more productive so that they can achieve their goals, organization need
to provide them with better opportunity and continuous learning (Dyer and Dyer, 2013). This
help employee in their continuous development and they become more adaptable and flexible
regarding the change in the workplace, with continuous learning employee feel valued leading to
high employee engagement.
