POSITION STATEMENT 2
Position statement on how Whitetown Hospital demonstrate safety and a commitment to
quality improvement to the customers.
Safety and commitment to quality improvement to the customers is one of the priorities to
Whitetown Hospital. With 80 beds in our hospital, there are multiple strategies we have put in
place to meet the needs of our customers. One of the ways we ensure safety in this facility is
through proper communication to our consumers. Whitetown health care providers have
identified that putting customers at the driver seat during the treatment process not only ensures
safety but also brings satisfaction in the services provide in the facility (Daniel et al, 2018,
p.577). In Whitetown hospital, when patients are admitted, they are educated on their roles in
reducing the medical errors that occur during the treatment process. Through the training,
customers always participate in their own recovery plans thus ensuring safety. One of the issues
Whitetown hospital is able to admit is that the capacity of the facility is small as compared to the
population in the rural area they serve (Pascual, 2017, p.50). Therefore, as a way of commitment
to quality improvement to the customer, Whitetown hospital do not admit more than eighty
patients in the hospital. The move ensure that the patients are able to maximum on the little
resources available.
Apart from the above strategy, the other method Whitetown uses to ensure safety and quality
services is through reduction of the waiting time of customers. The management in this facility
have identified that there is high demand of health services in this rural area. However, it
becomes a huge challenge when there are few nurses who are able to diagnose and treat the
patients. In many cases customers ends up waiting for long to access the services. Consequently,
this expose patients to further injuries. Whitetown hospital have employed many nurses who
work in shifts. It shows a commitment to patient safety and quality healthcare in the institution.

POSITION STATEMENT 3
Trained personnel is another way of showing commitment to quality health and safety to the
customers in hospital. Whitetown hospital have shown commitment through having trained
personnel who are committed to the hospital mission and goals. The nurses are empowered by
giving them equipment and proper instruments that they can use to serve the patients. The nurses
undergo continuous training after three months to ensure that their skills are up to date. The
training is an assurance to the customers that nurses that serve them are well informed of what
they are doing (Field et al, 2018, p.70). The other thing that shows Whitetown Hospital
demonstrate safety and a commitment to quality improvement to the customers is the
implementation of up to date technology in the hospital. For example, for the eighty beds
available in the hospital, every bed is fitted with screening machine. The machine is able to
record things such as the temperature of the patient (Øvretveit et al, 2017, p.876). Apart from the
machines, the hospital have implemented automatic health record management system that keeps
the details of every patients. These makes the treatment easier especially when the patient is a
regular customer in the hospital.
