World Health Organisation (WHO) is the first global health organisation contributing to a
just global community (Hanrieder 2015). The paper aims to discuss the ways professionals in
combination with the organisations can contribute toward the organisation's effort of creating a
just global community.
Established on 7th April 1948, WHO is a specialised agency belonging to the United
States (WHO headquarters 2010). It was created by the League of Nations 1920, with Health as
the prime concern. WHO is a global public agency. The organisation's goal is to serve worldwide
promoting health and along with helping the vulnerable keep the world safe. Also, it aims to
ensure billion of people are provided with health coverage and provided with health emergencies
from various kind of health crisis (Schmidt, Gostin and Emanuel 2015).
Towards the common good, the organisation has provided global health coverage
assisting countries who seek health coverage. The organisation has endorsed the role of
economic, social and environmental factors in public health. It has also worked towards non-
communicable diseases (WHO 2018).
In order to help the organisation’s effort towards a just global community, professionals
can contribute in various ways. Since it is a global health organisation, skills of speaking more
than one language and good communication is always a way that can be helpful. Also, people
with knowledge of diverse culture can assist while interacting with culturally different countries.
Professionals are highly qualified regarding technology which gives the capability of spreading
awareness to people who are unaware that they can seek help from this organisation during
health emergencies.
