This assessment is in 2 parts and contains a Demonstration Report, an Evidence
Guide and final Assessment Feedback.

Part 1 Emergency Evacuation
INSTRUCTIONS (Part 1)

Part 1 – Simulated Emergency Drill is the same as the one being completed for CHCECE016

COMPLETE THIS ASSESSMENT ONCE. Your answers will be recorded for both units.

To complete this assessment part, you must ensure you respond to the four short answer
questions, including coordinating emergency responses and evacuation plans.
For this assessment task, the student is to participate in a simulated or real emergency
drill (evacuation).
When will the assessment take place?
You will complete this task in a regulated education and care service.
If an emergency drill is not conducted in the regulated education and care service while
you are in attendance on placement, your workplace supervisor is required to sign the
evidence guide below verifying that an emergency drill was not conducted. If this occurs,
you will complete the emergency drill in a TAFE simulated environment at a time when
the assessor will organise.
Where will the assessment take place?
The written assessment task may be completed outside of work placement hours.
What resources and equipment do I need?

Skills must be demonstrated in a regulated education and care service.
In addition, simulations and scenarios must be used where the full range of contexts and
situations cannot be provided in the workplace or may occur only rarely. These are
situations relating to an emergency or unplanned procedure where assessment in these
circumstances would be unsafe or is impractical.
Simulated assessment environments must simulate the real-life working environment
where these skills and knowledge would be performed, with all the relevant equipment
and resources of that working environment.

TASK 1 (Part 1)
Workplace: You are required to obtain a copy of the evacuation plan, policy and procedure
from your workplace
Simulation:
If your workplace supervisor verifies that an emergency drill has not taken place during
your work placement, you will access the Emergency Evacuation Policy from

Policy-V4.1.17.pdf (date accessed 14 July 2020) You will also need to access the simulated
location’s emergency evacuation plan.
Referring to the Emergency Evacuation policy, procedure and emergency evacuation plan,
please provide:

Evacuation policy is defined as a expect or in event of a fire or any other emergency can be
insured with this evacuation policy. In this, all building occupants will be able to exit the
building leaves and need to assemble for further instruction. Moreover, the policies are
helpful in the evacuation of people are the populations from in condition which is
emergency. As per the standard procedures of emergency evacuation assist in first run in
immediate danger. Whereas, leaving the building which the nearest safe route is the
priority and helpful for the population for people to stay from such conditions.

TASK 2 Evacuation Drill - Demonstration (Part 1)

emergency evacuation at the service. If there is no emergency drill that occurs during
your work placement, you will need to consult with your TAFE Assessor to organise a time

to complete the drill in a simulated environment.

procedure, the location of exit points and assembly areas.

emergency plan to identify the location of exit points and assembly areas.
During the emergency drill, you will be required to demonstrate the following skills. The
assessor/workplace supervisor will observe you during the drill and add comments on
your demonstrated skills in the evidence guide at the end of this assessment.
As part of this demonstration, you will be expected to:
Identifies and immediately responds to the signal of emergency evacuation
Correctly follows the emergency evacuation procedure by:
a. Assisting staff to guide children to an emergency exit and check all sleep rooms,
children’s toilets and small spaces in rooms/outdoor areas.
b. Directing children to designated emergency evacuation points and the nominated
assembly area.
c. Talking to children during and after the emergency evacuation, helping them to
remain calm, informing them about what they are doing well and explaining to
them the importance of doing the emergency evacuation drill
d. Supporting staff to mark the roll
e. Listening and following the designated fire warden/ nominated supervisor
instructions on when it’s safe to re-enter the building
f. Assisting staff to guide children back into their service rooms or outdoor play areas
g. Follows any other action that is included in the policy, procedure or emergency
evacuation plan

Following the practise emergency evacuation, inform children of one thing they did well
during the evacuation and discuss why practising is important. Record a summary of your

For the practicing of emergency evacuation. Firstly, inform children of one thing that day
must try to follow the ways of evaporation and assemble at a safe point it is very
important to discuss the method for the emergency evacuation with the children for the
future conflicts which may be arise in a form of any dangerous event or concerns related
to fire and many more. In this, it is helpful to create a better understanding to evacuate
yourself from such kind of situation.

Part 2 WHS Incident
INSTRUCTIONS (Part 5)
Introduction
This assessment task relates to responding to a WHS incident in the workplace.
When will the assessment take place?
The assessment will take place using a scenario as it would be outside of the scope of your role as
a student and is and unplanned procedure.
Where will the assessment take place?
In a simulated assessment environment, which simulates the real-life working environment by
using a template that replicates an injury report.
What resources and equipment do I need?
You will need the Incident, Illness, Accident Trauma policy and procedure available from
https://www.brightmindsearlylearning.com.au/images/documents/Incident-Illness-
Accident-Trauma-Policy-V4.3.17.pdf.
You will need a copy of the incident report provided in this assessment to complete.

Scenario instructions: (Part 2)
Read the scenario below. Once you have read the scenario, respond to the three (3)
questions provided. Refer to the policies provided in the link. The incident report is
located after the questions in Appendix 1.
Scenario: You are a Diploma trained staff member who is room leader in an education
and care service. Today, Ian White (25), a student visitor to your education and care
service was walking through the foyer talking to you, He didn’t see a rubbish bin that had
been moved slightly out from behind a cupboard and tripped on it. He fell to the floor. As
he fell, he hit his right elbow, cutting it on the edge of the notice board. As he sat himself
up, you notice that it is bleeding. He starts to stand, holding onto his elbow. As he stands,
he complains of a sore left knee, which appeared red and swollen.
As the person who witnessed the event you provide first aid to Ian. You used gloves to
clean his cut and disposed of them appropriately after use. You used disinfectant to wipe
a drop of blood that had fallen onto the floor. Once Ian was up and moving again, you
ensured that the site was safe replacing the bin into the space next to the cupboard so it
no longer posed a hazard.

Once he had his cut covered and was standing, Ian felt that he was able to leave the
premises in his own car as he has an automatic care. He went straight from the service to
his own doctor that afternoon and was advised to rest his knee for 24 hours. He did not
need further medical assistance at the time.
