Executive Summery
After implementing WHS the work related injuries in Australia dropped down to 26%.
Possible avoided cost of implementing WHS will be cost of hazardous infection determining
the presence of potential danger, compensation cost of serious illness caused by work place
action. However, the potential problems with implementation of WHS include the lack of
accurate policies, lack of collaboration between the higher authorities and employees, lack of
sound knowledge about the risk assessment of the employees, despite having good
equipment, duty holders lack the sound knowledge implementation, inadequate facilities for
implementing the WHS policies, lack equipment for risk assessment and controlling risk,
higher work pressure which leads to professional burn out.

Queensland Government.
Chapter 2: WHS MS overview
2.1 What is a WHS MS:
A work health and safety management described as a systematic methodology that
used for addressing occupational health and safety in an organization. Within that frame
work, diverse issues relevant to work health and safety can be addressed (Markey et al.
2014). Therefore, it is a discipline concerned with the protection of health and safety of all
stakeholders in the workshop from the hazardous exposure and risk resulted from the
activities.
2.2 Purpose of a WHS MS:
Health and management system is a process put in a place by an employer to
minimize the risk of the injury and illness due to work activities. Therefore, the purpose of
work health and safety management system is to identify the potential risk in the work place,
assessing all the possibilities of risk that can cause serious illness and controlling the risk that
threaten the health and safety of employee (Ambardar 2015).

6WORK HEALTH AND SAFETY SYSTEM
According to, after implementing WHS the work related injuries in Australia dropped
down to 26%. Possible avoided cost of implementing WHS will be cost of hazardous
infection determining the presence of potential danger, compensation cost of serious
illness caused by work place action.
2.4 Possible challenges to a successful WHS MS:
Potential failures of a MS:
Most serious breaches where a duty holder recklessly exposes a person to the risk of
death or serious injury.
failure to comply with health and safety duty that expose a person to risk of death,
serious illness(Markey and Knudsen 2014).

Failed to analyse the potential risk factors and control of risk factors.
2.5 Recommended WHS system:
In order to analyse the WHS need for business, the structure of the business and work
level need to asses where organization will assess the risk factors of the hazard employees
can be exposed to and make WHS according to it (Markey and Knudsen 2014). The
consultation process will be legal where organization will consult local municipality through
direct communication and internally organization will consult with human resources.
2.6 Unique characteristics that would require special adjustment:
For employees who are deaf, blind and dumb special signboard will be used for
preventing exposure risk of hazard. For signboard should be different from the usually one

where employee can touch the signboard in order to avoid the risk of hazard fire siren can be
used for reducing the risk hazard (Markey and Knudsen 2014).
Chapter 3: Suggested WHS MS structure
3.1 overall policy document Appendix A: overall policy document
3.2 Key performance Area Policies Appendix b: KPA policy document
3.3 How the WHS MS achieves expected outcomes
WHS MS achieved the expected outcomes through the hazard process management
and the measures of controlling risk. The management system worked as a catalyst for Work
health safety. The TAFESA Audit template document does not provide the way of tracking
the person that can sign and validate the journal entries for the individuals in the workplace
(Tafesa.edu.au 2018). This section will require modification so that it can be properly be used
in the Brougham hotel.
3.4 Training and consultation requirements Appendix B.a
3.5 Development in consultation:
The development of consultation of WHS matters will be talking to the employees
and each other’s for identifying the hazard according to health and risk assessment and risk
control. The direct interview and assessment will be done for deciding who might be at
harmed and how. Evaluation of the risk and deciding precautions will be done with the duty
holders and the employees who are higher risk due to exposure of hazard. The consultation
will be legal through the contacting the local municipality, health and safety representatives
and health and safety committees through arranging conference and meetings (Markey and
Knudsen 2014). After consultation, work place facilities will be changed accordingly.

health, safety and workers. Where Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (ACT) will be
implemented for adequate facilities for the welfare of employees where appropriate
machinery and equipments materials will be used doe work place to reduce the risk of hazard
(Demir, Gul and Guneri 2018). The act Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017 (NSW)
will be legislated for safe work environment. ISO 45001 Occupation health and safety will be
followed for preventing employees from emotional burn.
Chapter 4: Implementation of WHS MS

Lack of collaboration between the higher authorities and employees
Lack of sound knowledge about the risk assessment of the employees
Despite having good equipments , duty holders lack the sound knowledge
implementation
Inadequate facilities for implementing the WHS policies
Lack equipment for risk assessment and controlling risk
Higher work pressure which leads to professional burn out.

4.3 Support required during implementation (Appendix C: Implementation of WHSS MS -
Action plan)
4.4 Implement planed assessment/audit
For all aspects of the H.I.R.A system, in the entire structure, the emergency managers will be
held responsible (Emergencymanagementontario.ca 2018).
4.6 Process and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of employer to provide adequate facility, information training and
infrastructure through appropriate decision making process
The responsibilities of the managers is to exercise due diligence to ensure that the
work process complies with its duty to ensure the health and safety of workers and
others at the workplace

The one who will be responsible for monitoring the MS is the Workplace inspector.
Workplace inspector will take into note of the how the inspector procedure, health
surveillance is proceeded with.
5.3 Reviewing the MS (Appendix D: Monitor & Review policy & processes)
5.4 Changing the MS
The OHS committee, Executive management, work group and the HSR will actively
play a role in changing the management system. The executive management will help the
workers to get through the changes in the management system due to the implementation of
the WHS. OHS committee, work group and HSR will actively provide guidance on how the
work health safety will be carried out.
55. Process of Evaluating information
The process of evaluating information generated through the implementation process
will be done through the assessment of risk and the identification of hazard. Information will
be evaluated through the identification of the hazards that are identified in the workplace. The
hazards that are identified are marked as hazards. Risk are assessed through the procedure of
risk assessing methods and by the risk assessing personnel. Risk control on the other hand
can be controlled by bringing the safety culture, safety protocol and safety policies that take
workers in the central portion.
Chapter 6: Conclusion
From the above discussion it can be concluded that the restaurant workers are exposed
to the different types of world related hazards which can cause illness and injuries. The
workers might be exposed to the unsafe work practices, faulty equipment and wiring,

damaged connectors and receptacles. Due to these hazards, WHS requirement mention that

has been seen that implementation of WHS leads to the reduction in the work related injuries
in Australia dropped down to 26%. Possible avoided cost of implementing WHS will be cost
of hazardous infection determining the presence of potential danger, compensation cost of
serious illness caused by work place action. The one who will be responsible for monitoring
the MS is the Workplace inspector. Workplace inspector will take into note of the how the
