INTRODUCTION
Business analysis is being defined as the evaluation of the strategies and working of the
company in order to evaluate the profitability of the company. this is very essential for the
effective management of the work in such a manner that the company is able to sustain high
competition within the market. The present study is based on Wilko formerly known as
Wilkinson Cash stores is a high street retail chain founded in 1930. The Wilko is a retail type of
business which has its headquarters in UK and was founded by James Kemsey Wilkison and is a
family business. the store is located in many different locations all over UK. The major
competitors of the company are Carrefour, Alcampo, Gunni & Trentino, Fermob, Leroy Merlin,
Ydentik- perfume bar concept and many other different companies. The current study will
outline SWOT analysis of company. along with this discussion relating to use of CSR and
innovation and creativity within business will be analysed.
ANALYSIS
SWOT analysis
It is a technique used within by business to identify the strength and weakness which
company is possessing. In addition to this, the external opportunities and threats will also be
highlighted within the analysis. Thus, SWOT of Wilko is as follows-
Strength
The major strength of the company is that
population nuclei is very large. This provides a
wide range of area to the company to cater its
services.
In addition to this, another strength is that it
has a wide range of the product and service
which are to be provided to the consumers.
This involves products dealing in homeware,
textile, stationery, confectionary, pet products,
kitchen and bathroom goods and many other
range (Liang and et.al., 2020).
Weakness
The major weakness which company faces is
the high cost structure of the company. this
affects the working of the company to a great
extent as consumer will not like the high cost
products (Palepu and et.al., 2020).
Another weakness is that company is not much
involved in delivering the goods to the
consumers. In the current pandemic era, this is
not liked by the consumers and it affects sale
of business.

Major opportunity for Wilko is that they must
go with the option of online business and
delivering the product and services to the
consumers.
Another opportunity with company is that they
must adapt to all the latest digital marketing
tools.
The major threat to the company is the high
competition. This is particularly because of the
reason that the competition within the business
is very high and because of this it will cause
threat to the company (Hameed, Nisar and Wu,
2021).
Another major threat for the company is the
frequent changes within the taste and
preferences of the consumers. This is a threat
because when the company will not comply
with the changes then this will affect the
working of company.
Use of corporate social responsibility
For any business to be successful it is very important that the business must effectively
comply with the CSR practices. This is particularly because of the reason that CSR is being
defined as the strategies of the company which involves taking care of the community as a
whole. Hence, it is very important for Wilko that they must comply with all the CST practices in
order to create a competitive advantage to the company.
With respect to the CSR, Wilko is taking responsible measure for protection of the
environment in order to ensure that environment of the country is not harmed by operations of
Wilko (Singh and Misra, 2021). With respect to this Wilkinson Hardware store is donating their
net proceeds in the charities and development of the environment and its protection. Along with
this, Wilko is also complying with all the ethical practices which makes the company more
socially responsible. As a retailer having strong family values, the company undertakes the
business on the basis of integrity and fairness and this makes the business more socially
responsible. This is a good aspect for the growth and development of the business as this will
improve the working condition of the company among the consumers and will improve the
working to a great extent.
Moreover, Wilko also ensure that the sourcing being undertaken by the business is also
responsibly conducted (CSR policies, 2021). The reason underlying this fact is that if the sources

products in easier manner so that it is easily accessible by the consumers. Also, the company
ensures that good relations are being maintained with the suppliers so that the working can be
effectively managed in proper and effective manner which will result in growth and development
of the business.
Innovation and creativity within business
In the current competitive environment, it is very important for the business to ensure that
proper and effective innovation and creativity is implemented within the business (Bouncken,
Kraus and Roig-Tierno, 2019). this is necessary for Wilko to have good innovation as this will
attract the consumer to buy the goods in proper and effective manner. The current innovation
being used by company currently is to focus on working on own label brand in order to increase
the popularity of the business in highly competitive market. The company continuously working
on effective analysis of the latest and macro trends going among the consumers. This is
necessary as this will provide the company that how they can improve the working to a great
extent.
The major innovation currently which the company can comply is the focus on health
conscious product in the food and home segment. The major reason underlying this fact is that
currently consumer have become more conscious relating to their health and fitness. Hence, for
this reason Wilko must concentrate on fulfilling this need in order to improve the sales of the
business.
Along with this another current trend is of protection of the environment and manage
sustainability within the business. hence, it is necessary for the business that they must
effectively comply with all the necessary requirement for the effective taking care of external
environment so that consumers are happy and satisfied with the business and its services
(Siltaloppi, Rajala and Hietala, 2020).

In the end, it is concluded that analysis of the business is very important for the business
that they must effectively evaluate the business for making good business strategies. The above

the company will be using the latest marketing strategies then this will definitely attract
the consumers.
Along with this, it is also recommended to the company that they must effectively
conduct the market research in order to identify the latest changes among the need and
requirement of the consumers. This is necessary because if the latest requirement of
consumer will not be included within the operations and product of company then they
will not be attracted. Hence, as a result of this sales of the company will reduce.
