INTRODUCTION
In order to attain desirable organisational goals and objectives, it is essential for the
employees and employers to work collaboratively and collectively. Working in team is
considered as the biggest challenge in organisation. A team leader has to face ample of issues
and challenges while motivating his or her team members to work in a team. In this context,
focus of report will be on analysing team roles and group dynamics on the basis of given
scenario. The strategies for developing team will be identified in this report. A proposed agenda
will be prepared in this assignment in order to discuss Key Performance Indicators and training
list of team in order to anticipate the reasons for requirement of team.
MAIN BODY
Group dynamics, roles and team development
Group dynamics refer to the attitudinal and behaviour characteristics of a group. In order
to work collaboratively in team, it is essential and important for the team leader to understand
and comprehend the behaviour of each and every member effectively (Costa and Anderson,
2017). As a new team leader at Wind Turbine Manufacturing Company in Australia, it is
essential for him to understand the behaviour and nature of team members so that task can be
allocated in effective and efficient manner. In order to better understand the group dynamics,
Tuckman group dynamics theory can be very helpful. Tuckman classified formation of group
dynamics in five stages which are forming, norming, storming, performing and adjourning. The
behaviour of team in each stage is different. In first two stages, team members did not agree with
each other. In next stages, they slowly able to understand each other and respect each other
opinion and thus they work collaboratively in order to attain desired goals and objectives. In last
stage, team got disbanded where team members depicts emotional attachment with each other.
Belbin Team Roles
Belbin have identified nine different clusters of behaviour that are displayed in the
workplace (Soukup and et.al., 2016). These are called the nine Belbin Team Roles. In order to
identify the role of team members, team leader needs to examine the culture, behaviour and skills
of each member respectively so that he can allocates and delegates the task effectively and
efficiently. Skills analysis is important vital which helps in determining the abilities and
competencies of each and every team members. In order to develop team it is crucial for the team

leader to identify their specific sets of skills and provides them precise training apparently so that
their skills can be more nourished.
Strategies for developing team cohesion
Team working is essential for every business which have to achieve challenging targets
with limited resources. In order to accomplish the challenging task effectively it is essential for
team members to understand each other and trust each other so that collaboration working can be
enhanced. In order to develop team cohesion, team leader can implement following strategies: Recruit with care: In order to develop a team, it is crucial for team leader to carefully
recruit the team members within the company. Team leader needs to determine the
balance of skills in members. For instance if the member has high levels of technical
skills but lack in working in team, then he or she might not be appropriate person for
team. Agree on goals and targets: Team members should unanimously be agreed on set goals
and objectives of the organisation and work collaboratively in order to accomplish them
(Seenan, Shanmugam and Stewart, 2016). Team leader should involve team members in
formulation of goals and objectives in order to enhance their interaction and
communication. Value everyone's contribution: In order to enhance the motivation of team members, it is
essential for team leader to value every member contribution. In this manner, team can be
develop in effective manner (Huhman, 2013). For a team to reach its full potential, it
becomes important for team leader to appreciate team member contribution. Develop Trust: Developing trust is the key element of team cohesion. Without trust and
belief no team would be able to accomplish desired goals and objectives. Thus, in order
to attain task objective, it is crucial for team leader to develop trust in the team. Empowering team members: Empowering team members by delegating authority to the
team and empowering them in decision making can enhance team cohesion (O’Reilly and
et.al., 2017). Team leader needs to allocate task and allow team members to participate in
the decision making process so that their motivation can be increased.
Resolving conflicts within team: Resolving conflicts within team can construct a healthy
team. It is the duty and responsibility of team members to eliminate the situations that
arises conflicts within the team in order to increase team cohesion.

Team leader has to encourage his team in right direction and in right path so that desired
organisational goals and objectives can be accomplished. In this context, the proposed agenda for
first team meeting in order to discuss the key performance indicators are very important to be
discussed in order to determine the skills and competencies of team members. As a team leader
of Wind Turbine manufacturing company there are 12 members in my team. In order to attain
the aim and objectives of the organisation it is essential for team leader to provide adequate
training to team members (Verhoeven and et.al., 2017). The motive of providing training is to
enhance the skills and competencies of team members. Training must be provide in precise
manner considering the existing skills and abilities of each team members so that motivation and
satisfaction of team members can be enhanced.
There are diversified team members in the team and it is essential for team leader to
consider the issue and needs of each member so that team can become more robust and efficient.
In the agenda, team leader must discuss about the potential challenges that a team may face in
the future. In order to attain the aim and objectives of the organisation it is essential and equally
important for team leader to discuss essential things which develop team building. Team building
is considered as essential part of the organisation and it is the duty and responsibility of team
leader to guide and motivate their team members in precise and efficient manner so that
organisational goals and objectives can be accomplished. The strategies must be formulated and
articulated that underpins team members adequately and their direction can be clear. Working
with diversified team is challenging for team leader and it becomes essential for team leader to
formulate and devise specific strategies that helps in enhancing the confidence, trust and support
within the team.
Manage the strained relationships
Managing strained relationships within the team is considered as one of the most
challenging and difficult task. Team leader needs to devise specific strategies and plans which
helps in enhancing motivation and harmony within the team. There are different kinds of people
working in the same team which have different thoughts, beliefs and culture. In order to make
them work collaboratively and efficiently team leader needs to value everyone's contribution.
Team leader must coordinate and delegate task in groups containing diversified people in order
to increase the communication and interaction between them. Without proper communication

and sharing of thoughts, no team can be able to attain its desired goals and objectives. In order to
attain desirable organisational goals and objectives it is essential for the employees and
employers to work collaboratively and collectively (Barrett, 2015). Working in team is
considered as biggest challenge in the organisation. A team leader has to face ample of issues
and challenges while motivating his or her team members to work in a team. In order to manage
diversified team, team leader needs to formulate effective and efficient strategies. The strategies
to manage diversified teams are listed below: Ensuring proper communication: Team leader needs to ensure the proper and healthy
communication practices occurred within the team. This helps in building trust and
enhancing interpersonal relationship within the team. It is the duty and responsibility of
team leader to allow participation of team so that their confidence level can increase. Transparency within team: Team leader needs to ensure that transparency within the
team should be maintain. This will increase the trust and belief within team members and
they will contribute equally and efficiently. Building trust and belief: Team leader needs to ensure that proper participation and
equal participation is floating within the team (DiazGranados and et.al., 2017). This will
helps in managing the strained relationships within the team and team members would be
able to work collaboratively and effectively within the team.
Respecting everyone opinion: In order to manage strained relationships it is essential and
important for team leader to respect everyone opinion and thoughts so that motivation
and satisfaction of team members can be enhanced.
Work to balance and support 3 levels of team need
The three level of team building are described below:
1.Bottom Tier – Interactive leisure-based group experiences.
2.Middle Tier – Structured business games / experiential learning.
3.Top Tier – Real team building / development.
In order to support the 3 level of team needs, team leaders must formulate and incorporate
effective plans and strategies so that team morale and motivation remains high (Costa and
Anderson, 2017). In order to balance the 3 level of team needs, team leader needs to analyse and
determine the needs and expectations of every members standing within the three level. This can
be identified by making communication with the team and asking for their feedbacks. Team

leader needs to create a podium where team members can share their thoughts and experiences
which could help the team leader in identifying the needs and expectations of team. In order to
achieve goals and objectives of the organisation it is essential and rudiment for team leader to
work collaboratively and collectively with his or her team members. This can be done only if the
needs and expectations of team members are fulfilled timely and efficiently.
Ground rules and team behaviours
To work collaboratively and collectively it is important for team leader to formulate
certain sets of rules and regulations which must be followed by team members (Soukup and
et.al., 2016). These rules will work on normalising team and provide them direction in
accomplishing the aim and objectives of the organisation. In this context, the team leader of
Wind Turbine Company formulated few sets of rules and regulations which could help him in
accomplishing the aim and objectives of the team:
Respecting each other: The team members needs to respect each other so that team can
become more robust and can meet the expected targets more appropriately. Not only they
have to respect team members of their own team, they have to respect other team
members as they are crucial part of the organisation.
Anti-discrimination: Team members needs to understand that discrimination within the
team is not permissible (Seenan, Shanmugam and Stewart, 2016). They have to treat
everyone equally and respect each and every member so that trust and support within
team can be occurred
Equality: Every member of the team must treat everybody equally. It is mandatory for
team members to equally treat each and every member within and outside the team.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it can be concluded that working in team is considered as the
biggest challenge in organisation. A team leader has to face ample of issues and challenges while
motivating his or her team members to work in a team. Group dynamics refer to the attitudinal
and behaviour characteristics of a group. Team working is essential for every business which has
to achieve challenging targets with limited resources. In order to accomplish the challenging
tasks effectively, it is essential for team members to understand and trust each other so that
collaboration working can be enhanced.
