Technology has been rolled out in all possible areas of industrial market. Its
implementation has been necessitated by the need to spur business growth by business owners.
According to Ahlstrom (2010), technology implementation in daily business operations makes
planning, maintenance and implementation of development goals more realistic. This is achieved
by giving out clear picture of business performance by using power of data to drive business
(Stokinger & Ozuem, 2018). In today’s business world, data is one of business valuable asset
that gives business operational advantage when making decisions on business success. In this
regard, Windy City Beauty has come up with an application to be used in management of daily
business operations as well as provide data that can be used to make sound business decisions.
This application is readily available at Google play as well as App Store for download. It is
assumed that, since customers would be requesting for service and purchases through mobile
application, their details would be captured automatic from their device in use.
The application would be used by the business to capture data on its operations such as
hair, make up and nails. In each category, various type of business operations would be
maintained depending on the activities involved. First, the application presents users with very
attractive logo which explains business purpose clearly. The logo gives users a view of the
services they can get from the beauty center.

Customers are required to log in to the application to get required services. Once they log
in, they can choose services they require from either; hair, make up or nails. This is the window
that presents main business logic of the application. By selecting any of the buttons; hair, nails or
makeup depending on the type of services required.
Upon selection of the menu option, customers’ are to select their services based on
categories available and quality they need. A good example can be illustrated on hair service
category. By choosing hair menu option, customer can select service depending on the style of
the hair, the type or individual culture. Since customers can make more than once purchase at a
time, application provides an option of moving to the next window by clicking “Next” button.

Next, once services are acquired or an appointment has been made, customer can decide
to get the goods through home services. In this module, customer is required to make booking of
the services by giving the location of delivery or where to be picked by the Uber when going for
an appointment. By choosing the location, system would be able to generate data to guide the
driver on possible routes as well as shortest one considering several factors such as traffic jam.
When customer does not want to give out location details, it is possible to bypass this section
because some of them would be coming for services at their own means and location would be
not required. Still, application provides simple navigation to the next page by providing “Next”
page button.

To make customers payment more convenient, it is possible to pay for services on the
same application. Several payment methods have been connected to the application so that
customers would have a wide array of payment alternative methods. Customer can make
payment through Visa or Master cards which are widely used by many people across the globe
and are generally accepted worldwide. Either, customer can pay through Paypal which is an
online payment method but it is very secure. It is almost accepted in worldwide but not all people
who are able to use Paypal. With these possible alternatives, Windy City Beauty Application is
an opportunity for all beauty business ventures.
Consequently, the general application’s window would be used to access various
application modules. Through this window, it is possible for user to make setting of the
application to suite the device in use. This makes application be able to run on several devices of
different resolutions. Additionally, through this page, customers are able to learn about business
services as well as quality of services through “about us” menu option. Once a customer installs
the application and completes required registration procedures with accurate data, it would be
possible to receive beauty alerts. This is a very important service which application users would
be able to get for free. Besides, customers would be able to view the appointments they have
made for a particular service. This module records all appointments made and at which time of

the day. Appointment section is of great importance from application users’ perspective as well
as business. Customers would be aware of the time they need to go for services booked while
business will be able to schedule for all customers to avoid congestion as they wait for services.
It is possible to allocate each customer a specific time slot depending on the time of services
required. In cases where delivery is required, business would be able to organize on logistics
services.
In some cases, customers would be given points that can be used for other services in the
business. Rewards such as redeemable points are usually meant to retain customers. Apart from
rewards, application users are still able to view available offers when they purchase some
services as well as goods such as hair. Further, upon purchase of goods, customer who order for
home services are required to give out their locations and directions for delivery. Uber services
are available to make transportation of goods easier and reliable at all times. Finally, there is a
“shop now” menu option which take customer direct to shopping cart to make required selection.
It is at this page where users can have an entire feel of the application at a glance.
In conclusion, important aspect to note are; the application has been designed in conformity
with several design principles. The interface is very clear making it appealing to users and simple
to use without any guidance. Similarly, it is possible to navigate from one page to another
making it user friendly. On usability principles, the interface has been designed in such a way

that it can be used in more than one instance. The same interface presented on hair services is the
same interface to be used on nails services. Therefore, this is a universal tool for beauty therapy
business operations that can steer business growth.
