INTRODUCTION
Project management is termed as an activity of initiating, planning, organising,
managing, controlling and completion of a project. Through this a specific work is performed in
order to accomplish activities specified in the given time period. In this project a construction of
a hotel will be executed in Sydney Australia. This hotel will be named as Winterfell and it will
be total new project with beautiful view and ambiance and high security. Completion of the hotel
is estimated to be completed in the year 2022. Project will be started in the year 2020 on 1 st June
and completed by December in the year of completion (Andersen, 2016Badewi, 2016). Purpose
of initiating with the new project is that all the aspects are considered and performance of each
activity is made as per the project expectations and key performance indicators. Their are some
of the related documents which helps to define the project. These documents can be approved
budget, project schedule, action plan and work performance.
MAIN BODY
Objectives
In the present time demand for luxury hotels in Australia is increased and together with
this good security system in hotels are considered to be an advantage for consumers.
Establishment of this hotel is a step towards accomplishing needs to consumers. Winterfell is
established so that consumers are provided with access to luxury experience and harm and
incidences can be minimised. Number of deliveries and the quantity of incidences will become a
key performance indicator (Bredillet, Tywoniak and Tootoonchy, 2018). Scope, cost, time and
quality of project accomplished will help to ensure success of the project as per plans. In order to
accomplish the project as per plans it must be ensured that approvals of budget and planning
must be made after analysing the whole situation.
Organisation and Responsibilities
Their are three main personnel involved in the project management process such as
owner, contractor and a project manager. All the responsibilities for accomplishment of the
project lies in these hands so that successful completion of the project can be accomplished.

Team of the personnels involved in the contract are provided with some amount of roles
and responsibilities that are defined as-
Owners Team
Director of the construction operations manager provides support as a senior management
for guidance to the project team. All the issues in the project activity are reported to the
management so that actions to minimise negative impact is taken and results are achieved in
more accurate manner (Brooks and Lindner, 2018). While project is taking place then in that
case safety and security of the environment must be considered.
Contractor's Team
They are the champions of the project who manages the implementation of various
operations that are scheduled in order to achieve targeted objectives of the project. All the team
members ensures that management plans are implemented in the same manner as they are
approved. Performance review is made on ongoing basis so that loop hole in the project
accomplishment can be minimised. Reports for the progress are made on time so that

accomplishment target can be set and nay form of variation can be minimised with efforts and
hard work. In this team a construction superintendent is involved who access the work on daily
basis and monitor detailed resource plans. All the safety and methods required in order to
perform work in appropriate manner is taken so that issues at the construction site can be
minimised.
Project Management Team
Manager of the project management team is responsible for delivering the project as per
plan by leading and managing the project team (Heldman, 2018). Policies, management plans
and various constraints in the project are minimised so that performance level can be matched
with the approved level. Coordinating with all the teams working for construction of the hotel is
made so that activities are performed on time and project completion is made in the assigned
period. Project engineer ensures that all the technical activities are made as per set guidelines so

Project Execution
All the plans are drawn and strategies are made and after evaluating the project strategies
execution of the projects initial activity is made with excavating and further towards framing of
the building. The project must be divided into small tasks so that their completing can be made
more certain. Work methodology followed by team of the project management is to-
Ensure that suitable materials are acquired in order to achieve technical requirements.
Tools and equipments of the project are arranged on time and must help in accomplishing
the project as planned (Kivilä, Martinsuo and Vuorinen, 2017).
Work performed must be analysed on the basis of quality control measures through
proper and timely inspection.
Targets must be set in such manner that they become achievable in time and resources
made available.
In the process of construction of a Hotel which is Luxury and full advanced security will
require number of resources and a detailed resource plan will be developed and maintained by
the contractor. It must be ensured that planned resources must be maid available at the site so
that work is completed in the targeted period.
Management Plans
Construction of a big hotel will require number of activities that will be performed and
management plan must be made so that activities can be managed, controlled and implemented
as per plans. The management plan will include the following-
Baseline on which scope, cost and schedule of the project will be prepared.
Management plans related to cost, quality, human resource and risk management.
Equipment management plan.
Requirements management plan.
Change management plan.
Process management plan.
Site safety and security management plan.
Environmental management plan.
Review and Monitoring
Strategies and methodologies that are applied on the construction project is modified and
evolved in the course of completion of the project. Review of various strategies will help in

assessing the results and helps in analysing reason for non accomplishment of the task on time.
Meetings can be made on the basis of assessment and team members can be motivated for good
performance.
Project Control
Controlling of the project will be made with Work Breakdown Structure of the project.
Through this method work is performed in a oriented hierarchical decomposition of the work. A
well defined structure of the work is made so that it become easy to estimate, schedule and
budget various operations of the project. Management of project become easy and simpler by
initiating such activities. In this relation all the activities must be written and their estimated time
needs to be made so that work can be arranged in logics form start and finish dates. As project
involves a long life-cycle which increases chance for changes in the management. Change
management must be introduced so that various issues based on changes can be performed.
Risk Management
The process of risk management starts with identifying, analysing and managing different
types of risk related to the project (Kwiatkowski, 2017). Managing the risk will generate more
amount of positive results and minimises negative issues. When hotel construction project is
initiated then risk is managed in the area of-

Reporting
All the documents that specified targets and actual performance must be made available
to managers of the business. In these documents each task with time allotment, risk involved and
actual completion is mentioned. Any form of variance is reported so that required actions can be
taken to resolve the issue. Reporting helps to access how much the goal is achieved and what has
left to be completed. Physical progress of the hotel building, status of budget and highlights of
the issues arises there are reported.
Contingency Management
High amount of uncertainty is involved in the construction of the project and these must
be taken into consideration while planning for the project. Plans to deal with these contingent
situations must be drawn so that final goal is achieved on time.

Site Management Plan
Construction site must be managed through a plan in which how goods and resources
available their will be used and stored is provided in detailed form. Operations manager at plant
will take the charge of such plan and make each possible efforts to perform on the basis of plan.
Project Budget
It includes the full estimation of all the activities performed or undertaken in the project
and financial requirements of that project is identified. This will help to manage and arrange
financial requirement of the project so that financial risk can be minimised and reduced to a
manageable amount.
Safety
In order to ensure safety in the project health, safety, environment and community must
be considered and management of all the safety tools must be made in such manner that security
operations of the project is performed effectively (Papke-Shields and Boyer-Wright, 2017). Their
are certain rules and regulations implemented by the law on constriction projects. Such as Work
Health Act 2005, Work Health Regulations 2003 must be followed in order to generate more safe
environment for workers.
Quality
Project is set with some standards that defines quality of the work to be performed. At the
initial planning stage bases for quality of the project is created. A quality manager in the project
is appointed so that set standard for quality of products used and work performed in construction
of the hotel can be managed. Quality must be controlled on the basis of quality management plan
through which actions which minimises variation in required and actual quality is taken.
Project Completion
After performing all the activities of the project finally the stage of completion of the
project is achieved. A project will be termed as well achieved when completed as scheduled and
in the budgeted amount. As a period of 27 weeks was provided for construction of Hotel
Winterfell but this is achieved in 25 weeks in the required budget. So, it can be said that
completion of the project is made in the most appropriate manner. After completion project is
handover to the actual owners and final payments are received. The stage of project close out is
achieved and all the positive and negative results that are generated in the project are recorded.

These records will help in taking decisions in the future projects also improve learnings while
taking other decisions in some other projects.
CONCLUSION
From the above project report it has been concluded that a project management and
execution is one of the difficult task to arrange and perform number of activities. The
construction project is involved with different activities and each activity contributes towards
accomplishment of the project in the most effective manner. Each activity will be planned and
divided into budgets so that process of evaluation becomes easy and goals and objectives of the
project are made more certain to the manager performing a particular task.
