It is essential to ensure security of the wireless communication. The research is been
undertaken in order to identify strategies that can ensure secure data transfer in a wireless
network. The abstract has been prepared to summarize the different aspects of network security
in wireless communication network so that proper strategies of securing the data transfer in a
wireless network. The overall purpose of this abstract is to identify the strategies and to evaluate
the advantages and disadvantages of those strategies.
The abstract discusses the different reasons behind the vulnerability of a wireless
network. Network security in a wireless network is important as the transmission medium of
wireless network is unguided, which becomes easy target for the hackers. The use of wireless
network in different business organization has increased over the years mainly because of
advantages it provides. However, along with the ease of use, it brings in certain security issues as
well. These security issues include denial of service attacks, data theft using rogue APIs and so.
Wireless network is an easy target of the intruders as they can quite easily make use of certain
antennas to detect the signals and decode the messages that are transferred through the wireless
medium if proper security measures are not ensured. This is one of the significant reasons why
the network security is considered to be one of the biggest concerns of the organization. The
threats associated with the use of wireless communication network mainly because it makes use
of air waves of as the wireless medium.
A number of strategies are proposed in order to ensure that secure data communication is

segregation and encryption. The data segregation however does not provide true data protection
as it only safeguards a part of the network from an already compromised network. Therefore this
strategy cannot be considered as a significant strategy of ensuring data protection in wireless
communication network. Therefore data encryption is considered to be one of the significant
strategies for ensure secure data transfer through a wireless medium. In this regard, the use of
virtual private network is proposed for ensuring proper data protection in the wireless medium. It
is one of most secure strategy for proper sharing confidential information as an encrypted
message is sent through the VPN tunnel to the receiver. The encryption and secure data transfer
through the tunnel prevents the unauthorized data access and transfer of data. The advantage of
use of a virtual private network is that there are little or no chances of data theft through the
virtual private network. Furthermore, the VPN hides the actual IP address making the connection

even more secure and strong. Establishing a VPN is a cost effective solution as well since, which
is another significant advantage of making use of a VPN. The disadvantage of VPN is that
establishing a VPN in a company can be complex.
