INTRODUCTION
A work health management system is described as a systematic methodology which is
used to address occupational health and safety in an organisation. In respect to accomplish the
goals and objectives the organisation need to implement a WHS management system within a
realistic time frames. The present report is based on Woolworths Ltd company which operates its
business in retail sector. It is one of the leading company that sales variety of products and
services in different places. The present report cover different types of risk that can impact the
health of an individual at the workplace. Along with this, opportunities and process for team
members to consult and contribute on OHS/WHS issues according to store policy is provided.
Apart from this, Implement and monitor control measures to prevent recurrence and minimise
risks of unsafe and hazardous events according to store policy and hierarchy of control is also
described.
MAIN BODY
A.)
According to the given scenario working in a Woolworths Ltd company as a manager. In
an organisation it is important to implement policy related to health and safety so that no
employees work in risky areas. There are different policy and procedures which can be adopted
by the organisation (Glendon, Clarke and McKenna, 2016). According to the health and safety
act the workers at the work place must cooperate with any reasonable policy and procedures of
the person who conducting the health and safety at the workplace. It is important to inform that if
any hazard is identified than directly communicate with manager so that necessary action can be
taken on right time

Making sure the access for team member to store WHS policy and procedures so that they can
implement them successfully (Fernández-Muñiz, Montes-Peón and Vázquez-Ordás, 2014). Right
information may includes first aid kits, material saftey data sheets and WHS training information
etc.

As per the knowledge of store health and safety polices and procedure needs to be complimented
by the active participation in health and safety issues by the team members. With the help of this
it is important that worker are protected from other persons from harm by the duty holders for
minimising the risk

Regularly providing clear and accurate information on identified hazards and risk control
procedures to team members. It is important that clear information is provided to related to the
identified hazard so that employees can avoid the risk. Proper documentation can be made so that
all the risk which is analysed can be stated in front of team members.

It is important to provide opportunities and process for team members to consult and contribute
on OHS/WHS issues according to store policy (McNamara, Griffin Kinsella and Phelan, 2017.).
It is so because they work and known which area is risky and what types of precaution can be
taken for improving those areas.
f.) Resolving issues raised to relevant personnel
According to store policy it is important to respond to the issues on time when it is identified so
that staff member can work in safe working environment. In this relevant personnel are includes
safety representative, supervisor, team leader and manager.

The outcomes of issues which are raised on WHS matter to team member is that it help in
eliminating the hazard, substitution and isolating the hazard. Further all the equipment which are
risky can be used appropriately by the workers.
h.) Implement Store policy and Procedures with regard to identification, prevention, and
reporting of potential hazards
For implementation the store policy and procedure it is important to identify it first through
communicating with team members (Sanz-Calcedo, González and Herrera, 2015). Further
actions need to be taken for preventing them and at the last it can need to report so that risk can
be record and kept safely.

It should not be assumed that risk control measures are always been adequate and solve
the problem. It is required that newly implemented risk control measures should be first tested.
This can be done through asking from the worker whether they are aware of ongoing risk or not,
making observation and taken relevant measurement.

After implementing it is important that risk is monitor and control measure taken to prevent
recurrence and minimise risks of unsafe hazards. If the risk cannot be eliminated that it should be
minimised in a way that workers work in less risky place. To control the hierarchy of hazard
control it is important identified the hazard, then substitute the hazard with lesser risk. Further
with the use of engineering control it can be avoided.

According to store policy and OHS/WHS legislation. It is important that hazardous goods not to
be covered. Further it should be kept safely far from working area. It should be used with proper
safety precaution so that chances of getting harmed can be reduced

All the equipment at workplace should be kept safely in locker and it should be used after taking
proper training so that changes of risk can be minimise (van der Vorm, Nugent and O'Sullivan,
2015). As per the policy it is important that all equipment should be repaired if they do not
working properly.

Team performance can be monitor by watching that employees work effectively and efficiently.
Further through noticing the way they handle the techniques can be east to measure their
performance.

Store emergency policy and procedures promptly in the event of an emergency through notice
providing them emergency call number. Further, in the organisation there should be fire alarm so

effective techniques which can be used in emergency.

It is important to provide training so that employees came to know about Regulations and codes
of practice relating to hazards present in work area (Santos, Barros and Lopes, 2013).

Training can be organised on weekly basis in which detail information can be provided related to
the information of health and safety policy and risky areas.

From the above report it is concluded that it is important that in organisation all the
employees work in safe environment. At stores there are different types of risk which can be take
place such as chemical risk, physical risk etc. it is important that policy should be implemented
within an organisation so that employees can work in safe environment.
