INTRODUCTION
Work based learning is describing as an educational strategy that helps students in
developing academic and technical skill that contributes in enhancing their employability.
However, it is one of the most important part of the learning process as it results in learning new
skills. On the other hand, project management is defining as process of leading the team in
order to accomplish the organizational goals and objective. And to make proper plan to deal with
the constrain in limited frame of time. Moreover, the study is based on Brimstone Hotel and Spa
that provide hospitality services to their targeted customer. The headquarter of the organization
is situated at London. The report will discuss on the business project required at workplace.
Planned and initiate the project
Background
Brimstone Hotel and Spa is planning to launch its mobile application that will favour the
customer to search all details about the company, its services, price offer by the company in
against to offer every service at the hotel and also about the history of hotel. The mobile
application will be available over Play store and App-store. The mobile application is a
convenient way to identify all necessary details that can allow the customers to make buying
decision in respect to book stay at the hotel and enjoy all the services offer the hospitality
organisation. The entire hospitality sector is highly competitive in nature due to the massive
demand at global level (Pinho and Chen, 2020). Total number of travellers are increasing every
year who constantly been involved in exploring places across the world. The modern era require
hospitality industry to transform to facilitate better services to the customers. Launching
personalised mobile application is one of the emerging need for hospitality organisation as it
facilitate better level of customer satisfaction for the hotel. While making up the purchase
decision customer search about all the attractive hotels that can match up with the budget set by
the travellers. Further, customer look at the reviews hotel own in against to cater all different
services which include guest experience, food, room service, service availability and all different
aspects. Launching personalised mobile application of hotel allow hotel to provide the complete

details about the service quality, reviews, prices, room availability, check in or out timing and all
details about different services offer by the hotel (Lock, 2020). This system will make easy for
the consumers to book the stay or other services of the hotel. The mobile application will also
allow the customer to easily make the payment against booking the services at the Brimstone
Hotel and Spa. Personalised mobile application provide secure payment option as the traffic is
limited over the site and also the safety features of the application oppose all the possibilities of
customers facing online scam or fraud while completing the payment. This application will allow
the consumer to directly communicate with the hotel management and authorise personal at the
hotel which will also eliminate misleading information served by the brokers.
Aim:
 To successfully design and launch the mobile app for the Brimstone Hotel and Spa.
Objectives:
 To increase the sales by 25% on a yearly basis.
 To improve the level of customer satisfaction.
 To improve the service quality of hotel.
 To launch the mobile app within 6 months.
 To set a budget of £ 50000.
Assumptions
This is assumed that the target of launching the mobile application within 6 month time
will be sufficient enough to do a comprehensive research, design the application and further to
launch the same. The set budget will be sufficient enough to meet all the requirements of
launching a mobile application (Aung, Fischer and Azmi, 2021). The different factors of
business environment will impact over the mobile application in the same capacity as they are
influencing at this given point. This is assumed that consumer will prioritise to use the
application for booking any kid of services associated with the hotel. Inflation will not rise in the
next six months. Cost of material, labour, equipments and other such cost will remain the same
throughout the spam of developing mobile application.
Managed, monitored and evaluated the progress of project
Project life cycle is a different stage involve in implementing any of the project. The
project life cycle comprises with the set of stages that involve initiating, planning, executing,

monitoring and closing. All these stages and part of the project life cycle contribute in the
completion of the entire project.
Initiating
At the initial stage of the project aim and objectives are designed. The project aim is a
clear and precise form of understanding about what project to complete. Objectives are also set
that are a part of the entire project. Proper research is also conducted at this level about the scope
of the mobile application and its suitable advantages company will enjoy against ,launching this
mobile application. Initiating stage could provide a complete road map about the set of activities
need to perform in order to design the whole project (Dwaikat and Ali, 2018). Proper goals are
set and identified that could provide a clear vision to the project manager to implement the entire
project.
Planning
Planning is the second stage involve in project life cycle. In this stage complete plan is
designed comprise with the set of activities to perform in order to complete the whole project.
The manager breaks the entire project into the various deliverable and small tasks that will
perform to complete the final project (Almeile, Chipulu and Vahidi, 2020). Teams are also
designed at this level on the basis of the different project task involve in final completion of the
whole project. Every team comprises with the professionals who hold the expertise in performing
the relevant functions. Risk is also identified at this level involve with performing every
individual task. Budget is also created at this level. Furthermore, manager set the progress
reporting guidelines that will constantly monitor the success of the project as a whole and every
individual task designed to implement the entire project.
Executing
. The execution is done in different stages. The first stage of execution is to identify and

provide a clear direction to the stakeholders for performing the assigned role. The third step is
where roles of every single professional and stakeholder involve in the project are clarified.

Necessary equipment’s and resources are also allocated at this level so that proper execution can
take place. Project schedule is also preparing by the manager that can brief whole executing
every single project activity. Execution further involve identification of issues and complete a
risk assessment. This will support the project manager to eliminate risk factor involve with the
project. Risk assessment will allow the manager the monitor the approaches underpin to
eliminate risk involve in the project. IN the end project plan is presented to stakeholders.
Monitoring
Monitoring is a process to actively review the completed task and actions that are
currently under going. Monitoring include reviewing the quality of work performed so far and
further to eliminate different issues stakeholders facing which executing the assigned role. This
stage ensures the quality of the project and further play role in reviewing every individual project
activity that is set by the stakeholders. Team will also develop at this level who would look
around to monitor the performance of each individual task.
Closing
At this level all deliverable will be transfer to the client. Completion of the whole project
is also confirmed at this level. The manager need to review all contracts that are necessary during
the completion of the whole project. The resources are released by the manager that include
suppliers, contractors, team members and all other stakeholders group involve in the project. In
the end manager review the whole project and identify the success of the project.

The entire project of launching the new mobile application for the Brimstone Hotel and
Spa could segregated into different stages. The overall project has been completed in a given
time hence, there are few days also made while executing the project as a whole.
Initiating
The initiation phase of the project was completed even before the set deadline. The 20
days target was set to compete the project which eventually competed within 15 days. All targets
set for the initiating stage could meet. This stage played a very comprehensive role in providing
a clear director and road map to the senior management abut how the project can execute and
scope of the project is also clarified at this level.
Planning
Planning stage could clarify all the aspects that need to cover by the manager in order to
execute the whole project. Every team members was aware with the individual role in the
project. This stage could clarify all doubts of the team members that could provide a suitable
pace to execute the whole project (Akgun, Yilmaz and Clarke, 2020). Aim and objective of this
stage is to clarify every part of project and segregate role, responsibilities and resources in
different teams formed.

Executing
This stage could delay the project deadline with 7 months time to complete the project.
This stage allowed the manager to ensure proper quality in the project. This phase could allow a
clear direction to implement the whole project efficiently. The stage provides the opportunity to
improve the quality of the different project tasks are involved with the project.
Monitoring
For monitoring the risk and management the company has decided to allocate the team so that it
can mitigate the threat in each sector. However, this is very common approach that is used by
the organization so that it can check the functional unit properly. Along with this, firm has
decided to use tools and techniques in order to measure the performance. For security
purpose organization has decided to take the consent of the customer so that there is data is not
leaked (Kordestani Ghalenoeei and et.al., 2021). In addition to this, quality of work is measured
so that no issues are faced by the stakeholders.
Closing
This is the last stage at is review by the project manager and it review the overall assessment. At
this step manager of the company will review all the contracts that are needed for completion of
the project. Along with this, project manager will make take feedback from the customer so that
it can identify any issues faced by the while using the application (Almeile, Chipulu and Vahidi,
2020).This will contribute in addressing the problem and find an effective way to resolve it.
Reflection
During making the project plan I have gain knowledge regarding project management
and its important in growth of the business. I have learned about the various tools and
techniques that are used by the firm in order to make the project successful. Along with this, I
have developed various academic and technical skill that was helpful in making the appropriate
plan. During the project I have identify that my strengths are I have good leadership that helped
in segregating the task and risk management skill that has helped in identifying appropriate
threats. In addition to this, my academic skills have helped in making an appropriate budget
and time for completion of the project (Divine and Zachry, 2018). Through the project my
weakness was that I have poor critical thinking and problem solving skill that needed to be

enhanced as it will help in making accurate plan for the project management. Along with this, I
also have poor negation skill and due to that I have to spend more on the budget. Moreover, the
major that project can face is technological problem and can create hindrance. Such any
negative comment on organization page can lead inn loosing potential customer.
However, as I had experience in sales it was easy for executing this method as it will
contribute in increasing the overall revenue in the competitive market. During the assessment I
was bit nervous while making the decision as it will give appropriate outcome to the
organization. In addition to this, I also overcome the feeling of stress making and executing
plan required lot of planning. However, I was happy when I have achieved the task within the
limited frame of time. In addition to this, during the project I have learned that proper budget and
good quality of resources are required in order to get the great result. Such Brimstone Hotel
really needed the application so that it can connect with stakeholder and it customer.
Moreover, I have depicted that accurate time and budget need to be set so that there is no issue in
implementation of project. Moreover, I have gained knowledge that this project will help the
organization to accomplish its aims and objective (Splichal, Oshima and Oshima, 2018). That
will allow hotel to sustaining in the external environment. This is also a cost effective approach
that will save the operational cost of the firm and it will give great results to the company
However, while implementing the plan there are high chances that organization will faced
issues such as technical and legal risk. However, in order to mitigate the threat company has
decided to develop team so that it can easily keep eye on it. Moreover, I have analysed that
this process can be used for future reference as it is very effective in nature. Thus, these
methods can be used by the organization in project management. However, due to my good
risk management skill I was able to mitigate the potential and future threat. Along with this, my
leadership skill has helped me in delegating the roles and duties to the subordinate as well as to
maintain healthy environment within the organization. In addition to this, proper communication
channel is very needed in the project management because it reduces the conflicts between the
group member
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded project management plays important role in
developing the appropriate plans for the growth of the organization. Along with his, it has
summarized about Brimstone Hotel has good position in the market but in order to reduce the

high competition in the digital marketing. The industry has decided to develop an application
that will help company in attracting large customer. In addition to this, it has also concluded on
life cycle of the project that is consist of various stage and contribute in developing effective
project plan. Moreover, it has also depicted about the proper time, resources and budget required
for the project with help of Gantt Chart. Lastly, it has summarized reflection regarding
appropriate project plan.
