INTRODUCTION
Learning is important part of the workplace as this helps an individual top grow
professionally and personally and this form of learning is basically referred as the work-based
learning (Luo, He and Yong, 2020). The work- based learning is the effective technique by
which an individual is able to gain experience of working and consecutively develop its
employability and academic skills. The present report is based on the Hiton hotel- a 5 star hotel
based in London. The hotel is highly known for its exclusive services of accommodation, food
and beverages and other customer services. For the report the employment role is project
manager that has responsibility of managing the new and existing development and improvement
projects of the hotel. The report is the reflection of the skills for which skill audit and PDP is
highlighted in report. Report will also highlight the skills and knowledge required for the job role
of project manager.

Skill Audit
The skill audit is the effective framework to recognise what skills a individual possess
and at what level of expertise. This will give me an opportunity to identify the new methods or
approach to improve and enhance areas of the weaknesses. In the workplace the skill audit will
help me to develop the skill base that will help in improving my existing skills and more easily I
will be able to meet my daily work and career goals. This is also beneficial for an employer in
arranging the employee training and development session and also through this I will feel more
confident, engaged and productive workforce (Sung and Hwang, 2018) . The skill audit of my

In order to become Project manager at the Hilton hotel I will be requiring certain skills
and knowledge that will make me enough capable and competent to get selected at that position.
I am working really hard in order to progress for undertaking the role of the project manager at
my desired workplace that is Hilton Hotel. For a project manager role management skills are the
primary and most essential skills. In order to develop outstanding management skills I am
cultivating self – awareness so that in can observe my surrounding and organise the resources
effectively for the better management (Clarke, 2018). I also involve myself in the meeting with
other managers in order to learn from my peers. I am also becoming good communicator and
listener as for the management of the project both are highly essential. Secondly to undertake the
role of project manager at Hilton I am also growing and learning the knowledge about the
hospitality industry and their market trends because in order to enhance the existing projects and
to develop and install new project in the organisation a deep insight of the hospitality industry is
must. Therefore, on the very daily basis I read and enhance my knowledge about the current
hospitality industry. I am also working on my presentation skills as for a project manager to
present a new idea of project presentation is compulsory. Therefore I am taking classes of
developing presentation skills and also practice daily by developing some presentations. Thus, to
undertake the role of Project manager I working really hard on my other secondary skills such as
time management skills, customer service knowledge, technology skills, leadership etc. so that I
can give my best at the hotel and can became competent among my co- workers.

project manager. A project manager is person that has role of handling, organising and
controlling the on- going, future and existing projects of the company. The project manager of

project, proposal of the project for the hotel development or improvement and to look at the

Knowledge of market trends of hospitality industry: the in-depth knowledge of the market
trends of the hospitality industry is very important for the project manager. As through this the
project manager will be able to understand the needs and wants of the customers by which
planning of new project will become more accurate and easy. New project are always planned to
meet the market trends therefore knowledge of the market trends of hospitality industry related to
food, technology, entertainment is essential.
Communication skills: the communication skills are always the key skills required for the every
role of the hotel (Lin, 2018). Therefore, for the project manger of the Hilton hotel effective oral
and written communication skills are important in order to have proper message passing without
any barriers. This skill is also useful in communicating with clients and team mates and also
during the public speaking at the time of presentation.
Risk management skills: for planning and execution of a new project risk is always a part and
parcel and to bear this risk effectively without any failure the effective risk management skills
are useful for the project manager of the Hilton hotel. This skill will provide me with confidence
and capability to handle the risk associated with the projects.
Time management skills: the time is asset for the Hilton hotel and wastage or ineffective time-
management can become a huge problem for the hotel. For the project manager it is very
important to adhere to the time in order to meet deadlines and also to protect the budget from
overshooting. An for a successful project manager managing time and schedule are good signs.

from which I leaned about my skill gaps and the methods to improve them. In the next log I have
learnt about how to progress my skills to undertake the role of project manager. I have also done
the reflective journal and reflective log which is also useful to me in learning about my progress
and learning growth and what I will develop in future.

the project and any problem or issue during the project execution. Also I am planning for the
developing my risk management skills as this is important for my job role because as the senior
project analyst managing the risk of the project is duty.
CONCLUSION
It is concluded from the above report that the skill audit and personal development plan is
highly important in highlighting my key skills that are my strength and the skills that are gaps to
my overall capabilities. Also the learning of the employability skills is highly important in order

to secure the data of their customers, provide supply chain and data privacy guarantee and many
others. Hence, in context of Hilton hotel, they are introducing a new project of adopting block-
chain technology in their hotel for their growth. Block-chain is the technology which stores and
all essential data of the customers like their personal details, their transaction history and many
others.
Targets of using block-chain in Hilton hotel-
There are overall four targets set for having block-chain technology within the mentioned hotel
and these four targets are explained below-
Secure payments- Block-chain technology help hotels to secure their payments which is
made by their customers. Development of digital technology also increases the treats like

third party. With the help of this technology Hilton can secure the payments of their
customers and store their all transactions safely. This technology unable to enter third
