WORK BASED PORTFOLIO
Top values based on ideal life story
Some of the values that I have learned are based on my experience working in diverse
cultures such as in India and Hong Kong. The cultural values that can be learned from these
countries are mainly the difference that exists and the manner in which people in these
countries need to be approached so that they can maintain their cultural beliefs. In this case, I
can share a personal and ideal life story that can justify my potential and ability to adapt to
the changes that may take place in the company. While working in India I had understood the
value and in terms of working in a group and be involved in a collectivism environment. This
had provided me with an experience of working in a team and at the same time brings about
value in an organisation. Hence, I can bring about this value while working in the company.
Long-term objectives
My aim is to enhance my capabilities and look for opportunities outside the financial
sector. I want to develop my talents as a sales representative as based on my abilities I am
able to convince people about purchasing products via telephone calls. At the same time, I
have talents in engaging in latest technologies as I had been involved in digital advertising
and have worked with the basic software that is required for gaining an advantage in carrying
out small calculations. Therefore, my long-term objective is to ensure that I develop a career
in the sales management field so that I can meet new people and gain knowledge about the
cultural beliefs that they possess. This can help me to speak with people based on the cultural
beliefs and provide me with an opportunity to increase the sales of the company. Hence, my
talents of being a person with effective communication can help me to achieve my career
goal as a sales representative.
The problems, issues and needs to be solved
My strength is that I can work in various fields that involve conducting calculations
based on the finances. However, I prefer to provide advice on problems and issues that deal

with business needs. I value my advice to the clients that seek to find the best solution so that
their business needs can be met. During my time at work as a digital advertising account
specialist, I had managed to provide advice to clients so that they can create their own search
advertisements. The enquiries of the customers via email are solved that deals with the
creation of advertisement as well. I even value my advice to motivate team members so that
they can work together and accomplish the goals that are developed by the organisation as
well as the team. I even like to solve problems of children so that they learn the basic things
in life that is required for developing a successful professional career in any field. These
events took place while working in the various sectors from 2013-2017.
Task 6: Reflection and Personal Development
Describing the event
The event is related to understanding the cultural difference that exists between India
and the UK. As seen from my resume, I had worked for clients of various countries that
include the UK as well as India. The cultural difference particularly the beliefs and work
habit of both the countries had been fascinating. The event is question is the power distance
that exists between the two countries and the manner in which teamwork in India is different
from that in the UK. The event had provided me with knowledge about the importance of
teamwork in organisations.
Evaluation of the event
The good about the event was that a contrasting difference between the cultures of
both the countries were analysed and the manner in which clients of these countries need to
be dealt with can be understood easily. However, the negative side of the event is that the
existence of power distance varies in the two countries and thereby spontaneous decisions

regarding urgent problems cannot be gained from the Indian people but can be gained from
the UK people.
Analysis of the event
The cause and effect of the event is that it made me believe in the ability of an
organisation to maintain a collectivism approach all the way while maintaining strict
discipline in its functioning. The combination of the UK and Indian culture can be made so
that a different organisational culture can be formed that provides an understanding of the
expectations of the employees and the employers.
Experiences in the study
The experiences gained during the study course were the manner in which business
can be managed effectively with effective leadership. The motivational factor that can be
derived from the course is that it can help in managing business across countries and at the
same time understanding the cultural differences that exist. However, the de-motivating
factor is the fact that excessive research needed to be conducted while trying to understand
the cultural differences.
Usefulness of the course
The usefulness of the course for future is that it can help in understanding the
differences in the cultural attributes of each country. Therefore, undertaking a job in a
multinational company that provides opportunities for expansion or outsourcing in a global
market can be done exquisitely without any hindrance. At the same time, management of
business by teamwork and effective leadership can help in building about confidence among
a person so that the business can be developed in a fruitful and predictable manner.

Tools and technologies implemented in the course
The tools and technologies that were used for learning during the course was the
simple computer operations such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint mainly so that reports can
be prepared, financial calculations can be done as well as to make presentation for the
classroom. Apart from this, during the course of the digital advertisement, the software
required for video advertising was used as technological support for the completion of the
course. This helped in creating advertisements for attracting potential clients.
Tasks required to be done
The challenging tasks that require to be done in the future are to analyse the business
management that is conducted in every country. An analysis of the Hofstede’s cultural
dimension can be undertaken so that in the future more than one country can be compared
and the cultural differences can be analysed further. This can help in understanding the
strategy that needs to be applied while conducting a sales procedure for the company. This
can help in growth of my knowledge and skill. These experiences of the events took place
while working in the various sectors from 2013-2017.
Conclusion
Thereby, it can be summarised that it is important to develop a professional career so
that a proper knowledge of the skills and capabilities of a person can be gained. The smart
application of skills required for the development of an individual could help in the
development of personal characteristics and at the same time ensure that companies can
benefit from the skills of the people. The reflective part describes events and experiences that
has been gained and it is required that a further enhancement of skills be undertaken so that
the skills can be used effectively at the work place. The future development of the tasks that
need to be achieved provides a possibility of success in the business world.
