LITERATURE REVIEW
This is the very important part for the scholar as by this section in-depth knowledge can
be get about the selected topic. In this part past publish data of the topic is written down so that
examiner will get more information which can be used for their investigation. This report
contains secondary information from various second hand source like books, journals, magazine,
articles and many more. This section also helps in knowing the gap between the past information
and current data so that appropriate measures can be taken to bridge the gap.
Concept of employee’s work life balance
As per the view of Irawanto, Novianti and Roz (2021), work life balance is an important
concept for those person who are working as well as has family. It is a method which helps the
individual to make a balance between their personal and professional life so that they can
improve their mental and physical health to a great extent. This concept helps the employee to
divide their time in effective manner so that they can give equal priorities to their family, job,
health and many more. Work life balance is a vital process in the world of business. The main
advantage that can be obtained by this is employee will fell motivated and help the organisation
to have more loyal employee. Working people should manage their time in such a manner that
they can help the to spend their time inside and outside their job.
In recent time the competition increases a lot and it becomes various necessary for both the
employee and organisation to maintain the personal and professional life of their employee so
that stress can be reduced. If there is poor work life balance than it will impact the organisation
as the staff are less motivated, employee retention will also low, absenteeism will be high and
many more. This all would impact organisation performance and productivity. On the other
hand, Jolaolu (2022), effect is this on employee is that their mental and physical health will be
bad. They will start feeling low and sick and this will impact their body. So it is very important
for the employee to make a prioritization between their job and life. One of the important feature
of poor work life balance is stress. It is very vital that employee to reduce their stress because
this will prominently impact their physical and mental health.
Organisation’s role in managing work life balance and wellbeing of its employees
According to Kotera, Green and Sheffield (2020), organisation should be a good people
company which means that they are putting their employees first over everything that happens in

the company. There is different role that can be significantly play by the organisation to manage
work life balance and wellbeing of its employees. Some of the functions that can be played by
them are:
Encouraging productivity: organisation should tell their mangers that they should
motivate their employee on the basis of productivity rather than the working hour. Mangers
should not count employees working hour rather than encourage them to improve their
productivity by focusing on those aspects which will helps them to complete the particular task
in more easiest way. they cannot force the employee to sit if their work is being done prior to
their working hour sometimes.
Offer flexible and remote working: In one of the survey it is found that majority of the
employee give more importance to flexible working hour (Muralidhar, Prasad and Rao, 2020).
Employees feel that having flexible working hour built trust among themselves on dividing their
time in equal manner towards their family and work. This would be helpful for the organisation
as well for staff because they were feel less stress and their wealth will also be good.
Granting time off between work: Taking off between the work will also help the
employee as if they feel frustrated than they can have a walk on do something else which will
reduce their work pressure. Human body is not built in a manner where they can have sit for long
hour and work. They need some physical movement which will help them to recover their
fatigue and do more productive work. This will also help the employee as they will not speak out
their stress on their loved one and make a bad relationship.
Recommend the benefits of managing work life balance of employees within ASDA
As per the view of Nanjundeswaraswamy, Renuka and Srinivasaiah (2022), there are
some benefits that can be obtained by ASDA if there is a proper work life balance of employee.
The foremost benefit that they can get is there will be reduction in employee health. As human
has limited endurance for working longer time period. So if the staff is does not feel fatigue then
there will be a low chance of getting mental and physical health problem. The ASDA can
encourage their employees to take measures for having healthy work-life balance. The next
advantage that can be obtained is that there will be high engagement between the employee and
mangers. Motivated staff will prove out to be the most precious gem for any organisation. So if
there is any proper balance between the personal and professional life them they will effectively
participates in company decision making process as well as on other activity which also helps

them to have better interaction with their top level managers. In fact, this will also help ASDA as
there will be low absenteeism, sick leaves and other problems. This will also help companies to
improve their overall performance and compete with their competitors in such a powerful
manner. One of the effective benefit that they can have in the recent time is that there will be
reduction in employee burnout rate. As the work pressure increase, staff fell stress which force
them to quit their job. So if work pressure will be low by the ASDA than employee will not
burnout. At the end managing proper and health work life balance is very important for both
employee and organisation.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methodology can be defined as a systematically process which helps in
identifying, analysing and interpreting gathered data in more systematic manner. This section is
important because testing of hypothesis is made on the basis of collected data. The main purpose
of this section in any research report is that it answers the two main questions that is, how data
can be gathered and how it can be analysed. There are two kinds of methodology: Quantitative
and qualitative methodology. Quantitative methodology collects numerical data whereas
quantitative gathers information in words or statements. In the present investigation Quantitate
methodology will be selected to gathered factual data from the respondents.
Research design
There are various types of research design: Experimental, Descriptive and Exploratory.
Descriptive gathers quantitative data, experimental collects both types of information and
Exploratory collects qualitative data (Rodríguez-Sánchez and et. al., 2020). As per the current
research Descriptive research design will be chosen. There are some steps in research design.
These are discussed below:
Research philosophy: It is the set of belief about the way data would be collected. There
are three ways through which data can be gathered these are positivism, Interpretivism and
realism. Positivism obtained factual data in the form of numbers, figures and facts. Interpretivism
collects more in-depth data so that they can capture emotions. Realism interpret the rely mind
thoughts of human. As per the requirement of examiner Positivism philosophy would be used to
gathered factual information.
Research approach: This is the most vital part of research methodology section. It is
used to test the validity of hypothesis and theories. Deductive and inductive are the approaches.
The foremost approach test quantitative data and also evaluate existing theories or hypothesis.
Inductive approach measures qualitative information and in this new hypothesis and theories are
made. In the current topic work life management, investigator will use deductive approach to test
information based in numbers.
Research strategy: Different types of strategy are there which can be used by
investigator to collects the data from their respondent. Some of them are survey, case study,
experimental, action research, literature review and many more. Survey is used when

information is get from wider section. Case study gather the cause and effect relationship data
and literature gathered information from various secondary sources like books, article, journals
and many more. As per the report Survey strategy will be used to gather data from large group
for the current topic work life balance.
Research choice: It is very important to have choices because this make quite easier for
the scholar to know which type of information they need to obtained. Research choices are Mono
method, Multi method and Mixed method (Thilagavathy and Geetha, 2021). Mono method
collects one type of data either it can be numerical or qualitative data. Mixed data is used when
both quantitative and qualitative information need to be get. Multi method works when both data
need to be obtained for multiple time. In the present investigation, investigator choose Mono
method because they want Quantitative information.
Time horizon: It is the time framework which is used to know the point of time when data
need to be gathered, there are two-time horizon that is cross sectional and longitudinal. Cross
sectional time horizon is used when in the whole research data need to obtained for single time.
On the other hand, longitudinal gathers information for very long time or can say multiple time
the information is to be obtained. In this report the investigator will chose cross sectional time
horizon because it will help them to obtained data at single point and in shorter time period.
Data collection and analysis
Data collection: It is the tool which is used to obtained information from various sources
like primary or secondary source. Primary sources used by researcher when they want fresh data
and for the first time from direct respondent. Secondary sources use second hand data which is
collected in past. This time of information is used multiple time in many of the investigation. The
sources of primary data collection are questionnaire and interview. Secondary sources media are
journals, books and magazine and many more (Thilagavathy and Geetha, 2021). As per the
present situation the type of information they want is primary data because they want fresh
evident directly from respondent.
Data analysis: Data analysis is used to measure and evaluate the information that is
gathered by the examiner on the topic selected. Frequency distribution and thematic are the two
method for analysing the data. Frequency distribution is used when the data is factual and is
based on quantitative methodology. Evaluating this type of data is quite easy and more reliable.
Thematic data gives the result in the form of words and sentences. The kind of data is based on
11
Document Page
qualitative and validity is quite low as comparison to the frequency distribution. In the present
investigation frequency distribution method will be selected to evaluate quantitative information.
Sampling
Sampling is the technique of selecting the participants from the population chosen by
whole world. In this a part of respondent will be selected to gathered information from them.
There are two types of research philosophy that is probability sampling and non-probability
sampling. Probability sampling selects participants in fair manner whereas non probability
selects respondent on unfair means or can say on bias manner. In this research probability
sampling will be used and in that random sampling approach will be selected to give equal and
fair chance (Thilagavathy and Geetha, 2021). The sample size will be 30 participants which will
be the employees of ASDA.
Research ethics
There are some ethics that need to be followed by researcher. The norms and values that
they need to follow while investigating are honesty, integrity, objectivity, openness, respect to
intellectual property and many more.
Validity and reliability
The above collected information for this research is valid as the data is being gathered by
using research instrument that is Questionnaire and is reliable because it is based on primary
source.
Research limitation
There is certain limitation that is being occur while conducting research. Some of the
limitation that is encounter is limited resources to collect the information from the participants.
The bother challenge was lack of in-depth knowledge regarding the chosen topic.
