1WORK PASSION: REFLECTION
As a student of management, I have been subjected to different kinds of academic
experiences throughout the tenure of my course. Recently, I had been taken into a team for a
project and the topic of the project was “Work Passion”. The team, including me, was composed
of fivemembers with one team leader and one quality analyst. The team leader of our team was
not only a competent leader, but also a benevolent one. He allocated tasks to us according to our
abilities, capacities and dexterity and also guided us with proper frameworks and approaches in
order to carry on our task smoothly and perfectly. Our team leader (Member A) presented was in
charge of presenting the introduction of the presentation in the class. Member B was assigned
with the role of preparing the presentation and distributing it to the other members for practicing.
He was also in charge of initiating the online video calls for practicing the presentation so that
we could effectively give the speech in the class. As we had very less time and due to our busy
schedule, online video conferencing was conducted. Member B did his job very effectively and
he was then told to present the definition of work passion in the class while presenting the ppt.
Member C was allocated of gathering examples of the chosen topic. He discussed about
the advantages of having passion towards doing a particular work with providing some practical
examples for the same. Member D was one of the most efficient members of the team. He
presented many ideas for the topic although it was not assigned to him. With the same, he also
encouraged and motivated all of us. As we were facing the issue of time management, I thought
that we would not be capable of completing the presentation within the given time frame.
Arranging meetings to discuss about the topic and the presentation were very difficult. He was
the one to give the idea of video calls through Hangout. Member E was me. I was allocated with
the task of gathering relevant images to support our claims, models and theories that were added
in the presentation regarding “Work Passion” and to check the overall presentation of the project.

I enhanced the images and ensured that they are matching the script. I am the one to present the
overall conclusion of our presentation.
I must say that all of the other members of my team were also collaborative and
cooperative to each other during the entire process. They were all very polite and patient. They
showcased politeness and formal code of conduct which helped in maintaining and upholding the
integrity of our team. The members of the team, including me, had been subjected to different
kinds of problems, however, with the help of proper strategies in our team, we have come out
victorious in our performance. Therefore, it was the unity of our team that had made the team the
most efficient and prolific one in the community hospital. From the project, I have learnt that
effective and good teamwork is an important factor in any kind of undertakings and projects
where a number of individuals have to form groups or teams, collaborate, cooperate and
amalgamate with each other in order to work for the project and reach its objectives smoothly
and sufficiently. Britton et al. (2017) in this context have also claimed that good teamwork is
essential and plays a very crucial role in order to implement and fulfill the common goals of the
team in a quicker and faster manner with better results and findings to a greater extent. Every
team member in a group has different sets of rules allotted to him/her that he/she has to execute
in order to materialize the objectives and aims of the team (Galegher, Kraut and Egido 2014).
Such combined, collaborated and shared responsibilities, duties and accountabilities are some of
the factors that make a particular team sufficient enough to perform well (Matthews and McLees
2015). Nevertheless, it has to be remembered that a teamwork is an amalgamation of diversity in
thoughts, ideas and expression. In different stages of teamwork, quarrels, disputes, conflicts and
arguments will occur due to conflict in different standpoints or viewpoints of every different
individual which are in an utmost need to be harmonized, synergized and well synchronized in

the team. One of the major and significant key skill to enhance and develop a team qualitatively
is to exploit each team roles.
Furthermore, I would like to state that during the beginning of our team project, we failed
to set rules and goals. Gradually, I understood that spending some time meeting of agreeing on
some specific targets and setting some rules to achieve the target is very important. As opined by
Cooley, Burns and Cumming (2015), goals are the ways of fueling our ambition in life. During
this project, our goal is to prepare an effective and informative presentation on work passion
within the set deadlines. We decided to complete the presentation two days before the final
deadline as during those two days we would re-check and practice our presentation to assess and
identify its effectiveness and gaps respectively. By all our hard work and contribution we
managed to do the same. I have also learnt from this group work that in order to ensure effective
team work and expected outcomes, it is very necessary to ensure that all the members of the
group are contributing and that each one of them are striving for creating a supportive
atmosphere, which would allow everyone for feeling comfortable expressing their own thoughts
without being ignored, dismissed and ridiculed (Ahmed, Siantonas & Siantonas, 2017). In our
team work, our team leader did his best to ensure open communication and team involvement.
He encouraged ideas and opinions that we put in place and choose the best one. At one point,
during the beginning of the project, I found myself putting my points forward very challenging.
However, my peers encouraged and motivated me a lot and each one of them were very friendly
and approaching.
