INTRODUCTION
Work priorities include the set important tasks to perform them with extra efforts and hard work
to perform roles and responsibilities at work place. It is necessary to set of important tasks to
work effectively to do a job more efficiently. However, it consists to evaluate urgent and
valuable tasks in order to prioritise the work which helps to fulfil the responsibilities properly at
work place (DeVon and et. al., 2016). In context of this project, it is based on the work priorities
in nursing to conduct clinical roles and responsibilities in proper manner. This assignment will
focus on software applications to schedule nursing shifts and technique for personal &
professionals’ plans. It will also include professional development opportunities and methods for
evaluation of performance.
TASK
Explain at least two software applications and technologies you can use to prepare and schedule
your nursing shift work plans.
The software applications and technologies refer to tools which are helps to make an effective
schedule of working shifts favourable to complete all the operational tasks. It includes various
kinds of software applications such as humanity, work time, when I work, shift board, get sling,
shifty, Google calendar, Zoom shift, schedule planner, Snap schedule, Calendly, Doodle etc.
However, it has been analysed that nursing shifts can be scheduled with the help of using any
one of these software accordingly. Meanwhile, it is observed that Google calendar and snap
schedule that are suitable for nursing working plans for nursing staff. Initially, the Google
calendar can be described as an effective tool that is easy to use in order to prepare schedule for
nurses and calendar app is favourable to business for remain connected from any locality and any
time (Dhaliwal and Hirst, 2016). It is helpful to formulate schedule of rotas, meetings and share
the appointments with team members. Secondly, the snap calendar is defined as software
through which working schedule can be formulated online which can be accessed by nursing
staff to gain knowledge about their working shifts to follow the same.

Personal and professional plans can be defined as goals and strategies in order to gain desired
learning as well as training to acquire new skills & abilities. It is favourable to increase abilities
and knowledge level in order to complete personal and professionals goals of an individual.

However, it has been analysed that people conduct evaluation of strengths and weaknesses for
their own according to effective plan of development can be established to improve skills and
capabilities to improve potential to achieve desired personal and professionals objectives.
Meanwhile, the programs and seminars are effective method for nurse to formulate
professional plans to improve their knowledge level for enhancing their efficiency of
performance. Moreover, the other method of personal plan is to evaluate opportunities and
threats by taking 360 degree feedbacks to work on them. It includes the criterion of taking
feedbacks from everyone like superiors, sub-ordinate, peers, friends etc.

The identification of personal and professional needs is important to focus in correct direction for
increasing knowledge level. It is necessary to priorities the learning needs in order to put extra
efforts for important learning tasks to fulfil them effectively. Meanwhile, it is observed that self-
evaluation is favourable to identify learning needs which can be priorities for personal and
professionals requirements of an individual (Scott, Murphy and Warshawsky, 2016). However, it
includes several professional learning needs such as communication skill, role modelling, up to
date knowledge & experience, continuous supervision, assessment & evaluation, scientific
process, management skills, problem solving skills, decision making skills, professional practices
and many more. In addition to this, urgent and important technique which is used to prioritise
the personal and professional learning needs in order to learn about important aspects for
improving respective abilities to gain desired outcomes. Moreover, it is favourable to make
prioritisation of personal and professional needs of learning for improving their knowledge level
as well as abilities.

The enrolled nurses are professionals who have responsibility & duty to work under supervision
of registered nurse in order to provide effective care to an individual for their wellbeing. It is
necessary for them improve perfection in their practices and knowledge levels which impact
positively on delivery of care (Thompson, 2017). However, the enrolled nurses have professional
developmental opportunities to attend seminars, programs, training sessions and so on. It will
provide support to acquire and improve several skills such as cultural awareness,
professionalism, attention to details of patient, critical thinking, effective communication, time

management, problem solving and decision making skills. They can learn by their experiences
through working with registered nurses in terms of dealing with complicated situations.
Meanwhile, they should understand the use of ethical principles and legislations in respect of
improving the care facilities to gain better patient outcomes accordingly.

The feedback raking process plays an important role in order to improve the effectiveness of
nursing practices in healthcare settings. It is necessary for hospital management to use
appropriate method of taking feedbacks which helps to identify actual threats of clinical
procedures and services delivery which needs to be improved. Meanwhile, working of these
feedbacks is favourable to boost up quality of clinical practices in respect of increasing patient
outcomes (Nilsson and Nilsson, 2017). It is required to take client feedbacks seriously and junior
staff must interpret them through mails by written communication to interpret real complain
without modifying the same. It will provide support to encourage the higher authority of
hospitals for increasing availability of resources and other products which are essential to
provide appropriate care services. They can organise training sessions for improving skills of
nurses to improve their working and procedures in order to deliver desired medical facilities for
wellness of an individual. Moreover, the proper interpretation of client feedbacks is favourable to
improve service delivery along with reducing complaints and negative feedbacks.

The performance evaluation can be defined as an effective way to analyse threats and weakness
of working to focus on them for improvement. It is necessary to carry out performance
evaluation to order to take appropriate actions for enhancing the same. However, it has been
analysed that there are number of methods from which appropriate one can be used for
performance evaluation which facilitate to identify threats of working for engaging the same. In
addition to this, the performance evaluation methods include self-evaluation, behavioural
checklist, 360-degree feedback, management by objectives and ratings scale. These techniques
are available which are much effective to evaluate the respective performance so that actual
threats can be determined to take appropriate actions for making desired improvements. It is

observed that mostly managers set standards of performance and then calculate actual
performance to evaluate actual problems for making required improvements accordingly.
CONCLUSION
From the above assignment, it has been concluded that nursing schedule of working shifts are
required to be prepared in effective manner. It includes the use of appropriate methods so that
proper shifts can be formulated for welfare of nurse. However, it is necessary for them evaluate
their learning needs for improving skills as well abilities. It will provide support to increase
quality of care facilities for gaining improved patient outcomes.
