INTRODUCTION
The academic writing is concise, structured, clear, focussed and is supported by evidence.
The aim of academic writing is to provide an understanding to the readers. While writing, writes
use formal style and tone which is not complex or contain any long sentences or difficult
vocabulary. There are many types of skills which are required by the researcher in academic
writing. Research have many importance as it helps an individual to study in depth about a
specific topic and analyse it in detail. This helps in enhance knowledge and building various
other research skills (Mandelbaum and Fuller, 2021). The chosen business issue for this report is
“Workforce Planning”. The aim of this report is to discuss business issue and company's reaction
on it. The report offers recommendations on how to solve these issues. It also contains
reflections of such issues upon my learnings and Lastly, PDP is created to focus upon my
academic skills.
MAIN BODY
PART 1
Workforce planning
Workforce Planning is a part of business activity in which workforce of company are
analysed and procedure is determined by the organisation that it must take, to prepare for
forthcoming staffing requirements. Employees are the main asset of the company and to carry
out business activities efficiently, having good workforce is bonus. The aim of planning
workforce is to ensure that organisation have effective human capital which they require to carry
out activities of the organisations effectively and efficiently (Hellyer, 2021).
Issues faced during workforce planning and company's reaction to it.
There are various obstacles that are faced by the organisations during workforce planning. Few
of them are as follows:
When an organisation makes plan and fails to communicate internally.
When the tools and resources which are necessary are lacking.
Improper identification of gaps in skills and talent.
Failure to align the business goals with that of workforce planning.
Planning done while keeping focus on only short term goals of the company.

When no support is provided by the leaders.
There are various issues which are faced by the company's management during workforce
planning. All such issues badly impact upon the productivity and profitability of the company.
Workforce Plans that do not support business goals leads to downfall of the business (Pius,
Alharahsheh and Sanyang, 2020). Poor workforce at the workplace often leads to decrease in
productivity and degradation of quality. It is therefore very important that effective planning is
done by the management of the company so that the obstacles can be avoided and the workforce
plan is success.
Recommendations to solve issues
There are various ways in which the company may resolve the issues or obstacle during
workforce planning. They are as follows: Recognising Gaps: It is very important that the company must analyse the requirement of
its workforce along with the existing gaps they observe in its current workforce. This will
help management to not only prepare a plan for future recruitment but also this will be
helpful in filling gaps of the current workforce setup at the company (Bishop and Seibert,
2020). Recognition of gaps provide with better understanding of the improvements that
needs to be changed. Collaborating on Plans: The management must communicate with the leaders and
mangers of various departments and gather internal feedbacks before drawing any
conclusion to the plan. Communication is important as it will help in developing better
understanding of the improvement areas.
Focusing on future growth: The management must make plans according to the
company's future goals. This will help in making improvements in such areas of planning
that are not in accordance with company's goal. This will help in ensuring that various
departments have right people placed which are contributing in work (Sarihi,
Shahhosseini and Banki, 2020). This can be done by taking valuable feedbacks from the
leaders of all departments.
Above are the few recommendations that the organisation may take in order to deal with
the issues pertaining during workforce planning. By implementing these recommendations, many
forthcoming issues can be avoided by the management which will make the planning easy and
effective.

PART 2
My academic research writing have helped me by providing me with the immense
knowledge about the workforce planning. I have learnt that creating workforce plan is not an
easy task as it requires lots of skills to complete it. Making plans for the workforce requires
company to determine many factors with which strict compliance is needed. If any of the factor
gets missing it could ruin workforce planning. While researching for my topic, I learnt that there
are many issues which may arise when company make plans for its workforce. Only the
recruitment and selection process is not enough, to implement plans for workforce, many other
criteria are needed to be determined such as: gaps in skills and talent of employees, analysing the
situation of current workforce, culture of company, requirement of company, compliance of plan
with goals of company, etc. I have also learnt that the company needs to make proper plan and
its implementation even before making plans for workforce. Even a plan needs certain planning
to be done so that it is effective and efficient.
All these learning turned out to be of great importance for me. By learning this, I
determined the skills which will be important for me to inculcate and develop, so that in future
when I need those skills I am prepared by developing them now. The planning of workforce
requires skills such as: communication skills, management skills, coaching skills, training skills,
technological skills, learning skills, etc. These are the few skills which I feel are important for
the company's management, which I think should be adopted so that in future it will help in in
my career and presently it will be useful in my academics. Developing skills will never be waste
as it helps always be helpful to me in my future. All these above learning have enhance my
knowledge and learning of the workforce planning. Now I know to make effective workforce
planning while keeping in mind the issues which may pertain while implementing them.
The skills which I stated above are very important, not only for career development but
for self development. By developing these skills I will be able to perfect myself in various skills
which can be used by me in future. To develop these skills I will be joining training programs so
that I will have both, theoretical knowledge and practical appliance of the skills. This way I will
be able to learn fast and come to perfection. I will also subscribe myself to various online books
websites with the help of which I will be able to read about the skills and learn. This will
enhance my knowledge of the usage of skills and its implementation. This module and research
have helped me in lot many ways as I determined the skills which I will be developing for my

advantage in academics and in career. Therefore, this learning module turned out to be of very
great importance for me.
PART 3
Personal Development Plan
This is the plan created by an individual to make planning for their self development.
With this plans skills are recognised by the individuals which they want to develop (Homsey,
2021). After the skills are determined, action plan is made on how it will be achieved and what
will be its future implications for them.

proper planning done so to carry out the workforce planning. There can be many issues which
may arise in the process but by using above discussed recommendations, it can overcome and
solve those issues. There are various skills which are required to perform academic research and
workforce planning. These skills if developed by an individual will be proved very beneficial for
both, in academics and in future career.
