TASK 1
The responsibilities of a coach, mentor and teacher working with individual students
Planning and Communication-
It is necessary for the coach to plan their speech as per their case and communicate with
them on that basis so that they do not lose their attention. It is necessary to make them
understand the importance of opportunities they have. It is the responsibility of the teacher to
help them plan on the basis of long term and give the feedback as per that so that assesses the
effectiveness of their plan. For instance Cassie would feel helpful if someone helps her to give
hope and make her explain the importance of being a good scholar and achiever (Oxford and
Gkonou, 2020).
Support their learning-
It is important to share ideas with each other and support them in various ways such as
different approaches, grouping, management etc. In the case of Lisa the teacher needs to support
her on her decision of startup but after convincing that first she needs to take regular sessions so
that her scholar and academics record does not get affected. This will not make her feel criticized
instead she will gain confidence.
Guide them to the right direction-
It is the duty of the teacher, coach or mentor to guide their students to the right path
through which they can excel in future. As in the case of Aran he was misguided due to his
responsibilities and taking a different perspective out of it. It is the duty of the teacher to make
Document Page
him understand the conclusions of his decisions and actions so that the path of gang, drugs or
alcohol that he is chosen can be shifted and his sole focus is on his career.
Analyses the differences between the coaching, mentoring and teaching roles
Teaching-
The focus of teaching is on making individual understanding the concepts that are
necessary to finish the process. It is in the concept of teaching to accept their mistakes but to
keep in mind that must not affect their project. The teacher has to focus on concepts and set
examples for them which are similar for the case of Lisa, Aran and Cassie. This will allow them
to cope up with the practicality of real life (Fenesi, Kramer and Kim, 2016). In order to do this it
is necessary to highlight the key points to them and maintain communication with them. These
way students will learn from them.
Coaching-
The coaching expertise must be built on the unique situations so that it can be shared with
the students. This will help the students to take their difficulties out in different situations. The
experience shared must help the students to make adjustments in their real life situations so that
they can overcome that dilemma. It is the role of the coach to make the students adjust as per
their situations. For instance coach must be able to identify the problems in the cases of Cassie,
Aran and Lisa. After conducting sessions of coaching Lisa will be able to focus on business after
she has completed her sessions. Other than this they will also be able to make their efficiency
better.
Mentoring-
This aspect is concerned with helping the individual to fulfill his or her path. This stage
deals with people who are a little old as at that age they have started developing their goals for
future. Mentor has to help them set a picture for their goals so that they do not get distracted or
pursue them. As in the case of Cassie she has lost hope because her mother passed away and she
faces difficulties in studies being dyslexic which is what mentor needs to focus on that is to help
her maintain her balance emotionally. By mentoring them in the right direction they will be able
to get their hopes up and begin to work again for their goals.

The effectiveness of coaching, mentoring and teaching roles in meeting individual learning
needs.
The effectiveness of coaching will be observed when Lisa attends her sessions regularly
without taking any breaks as this way she will be able to start her business with more knowledge
and expertise as her age is just 18 and this states that she does not have much experience. For
that it is necessary to study and work more for some time and then pursue her goals.
Mentoring will be treated as effective when Cassie begins to stop drinking alcohol and
stop being too hard on her for losing her mother and being dyslexic as this is forcing her to give
up but if her mentor gets successful in treating her and to overcome her trauma then their skills
or techniques used will be considered as being effective for the individual.
Coaching will be believed to be effective when the coach is successful in letting the
individual understand his potential and does not let it get wasted. This case is relatable to the
case of Aran who over his family pressure chose the wrong path of ganging up and selling drugs
which was not his aim as he was a scholar and great in academics which is why it was important
for the coach to make him understand his true worth and forget about feeling the intoxications in
his feelings about their parents. If the coach tends to be successful in making him realize about
the certain aspects of life which is more important than ganging up then the work of coach will
be considered to be effective (Beck, Quinn and Ariffin, 2020).
TASK 2
2.1 Justify the selection of strategies to meet the needs of the individual learners. Highlight the
needs of a minimum of two learners
There were three most important strategies that were used for individual learners as per
their strengths, needs and requirements. Teaching, coaching and mentoring are three important
strategies All of these strategies were adopted as per strengths, weaknesses and issues or
difficulties that were faced by students (Beck, Quinn and Ariffin, 2020). All the three strategies
are equally important and can be used as per the need of students. Teaching as a strategy is used
to make individual learn basic concepts, coaching is used as a real world training strategy in
which experts experience is used tov make their students learn and mentoring is used as a
strategy so that learner can be become more mature and enhance their performance.
This can be explained with the help of an example by analyzing needs and requirements of two
leaners.
Document Page
Aran: Aran is good academically but recently his attendance has decreased as he has involved in
selling drugs and his relationship with his family is also toxic. However, his academic
performance is excellent. Due to this, his needs proper mentoring. Mentoring will help in
encouraging him so that he is not lost from his excellent academic performance. Mentoring will
help him in focusing upon his studies. Proper mentoring will also help him in identifying what
selling drugs or drinking alcohol can do to his health, how it can affect his studies and reduce his
academic performance.
Lissa: Lisa is excellent within her performance and has excellent attendance but recently she is
getting bored with sessions. Proper coaching will help her to again focus upon her study session.
Coaching will also help her in identifying ways in which she can use her knowledge and start her
own business.
3.1 Review the resources required for an effective multi-agency approach. What factors do you
need to consider when working with learners in relation to provide adequate and
appropriate support?
There are various kinds of approaches that will be required by me for developing an
effective multi- agency approach. Some of the main resources that will be required by me for
effective multi-agency approach are as follows: first type of resource is to identify barriers or
limitation that can be faced by leaners in learning, whether there is a need of referral, special
learning resources for students who need some kind of special instruments or technique for
learning (Amigud and et.al., 2018). Other than this, special vocational bodies or experts are
another important resource that can be required by different kinds of learners.
Factors required to be considered when working with leaners are:
Cassie: She is Dyslexic and many times due to this she finds difficulty in study sessions. For her
special learning instruments or techniques required by Dyslexic students will be required. For
example, we can provide Audiobooks for Cassie so that she can focus in more appropriate
manner on her studies. Also, she is not stable emotionally as she has lost her mother. Due to this
she needs to be referred for a referral program so that she can focus upon her studies.
Aran: Aran require special professional guidance for his learning because her is slowly
becoming alcoholic. He also sells drugs due to which he requires special professional subject
experts. Aran can be provided with medical professional’s experts who can provide him with
Document Page
proper guidance so that he can leave alcohol and understand its negative impact on health and
learning ability. This will help him to concentrate on his studies in more proper manner.
Lissa: Lisa wants to start her own business So he needs professional experts who can provide her
guidance and expert advice so that she can start her own business in a proper manner.
3.2 Explaining factors that influence the referral process
There are various kinds of factors that influence referral process. One of the main factors
that influence referral process is student’s overall performance. If student’s performance is
degrading continuously then there is a need of referring that student for special coaching or
training. Students psychological factors is another factor that can influence referral process
because if students is not stable emotionally then they do need a referral program (Chalak and
Fouladi, 2016) . For example Cassie require to be referred for referral process as she is not stable
emotional as she has lost her mother recently. Lack of connectedness or lack of motivation is
another factor is another factor that can influence students referral process.
4.1 Review the processes involved in one-to-one coaching, mentoring and teaching in relation to
emotional, intellectual and social benefits for students
Processes involved in one-to-one coaching
One to one coaching helps a student in providing intellectual benefits. Coaching helps
students to understand ways in which they can bring improvement within their overall
performance. It can further help in provision of social benefits to students as proper coaching can
help them in using their knowledge in their real life (Chalak and Fouladi, 2016). For example,
one to one coaching can help Lisa in focusing upon her studies without getting bored. One to one
coaching also provides emotional benefits to students such as: mentoring can help Aran to leave
alcohol and selling drugs and focus upon his academic performance.
Processes involved in mentoring
Mentoring process involves guidance in which students are provided with proper
guidance. Mentoring helps in providing intellectual benefit to students as it helps improving a
guidance to students of ways in which they can use their knowledge in progressing within their
career (Chalak and Fouladi, 2016). Mentoring to Lissa can help her in identifying ways in which
she can set up her own business.

Teaching can help in providing knowledge about basic concepts that can be used by
students to enhance their knowledge and become academic performance.
TASK 3
5.1 Effectiveness of own practice in relation to one to one teaching and learning session
For becoming an effective learner there is requirement of having some skills like team
working, problem solving, adaptability, note taking and others. In this regard I want to discuss
my experience that I gained from learning session, where I worked with 15 different behaviors of
learners. In that learning session with 15 learners, I learned several things and also identified
effectiveness of own practice. In that learning session I got more than 60% attendance and there
were different learners who got 45%, 60% and 100%. I identified that having an ability to work
with team and motivation plays a vital role. Motivation is the thing that makes people stay
focused and make them able to work. I also learned that family members play a vital role in
learning and accomplishing goals as in the case of Cassie, it found that she became depressed
after losing her mother and it disturbed her life. In other case of Aran I found that he was
intelligent and got effective scores but due to high expectations of family members he became
depressed and started working ineffective work (Lee, Barker and Kumar, 2016). I found that I
have an effective integrity and team working skill and theses skills helped me out in
accomplishing goals and becoming regular in learning session. I also found that ways of teaching
also plays a vital role as it can helps learners in increasing skills and increasing interest of attain
classes regularly. Having an effective environment also plays a vital role for becoming
productive and remaining happy at any place. By having effective communication skill also we
can make others feel valued and comfortable at workplace.
5.2 Identification of own strength and areas for improvement in relation to one to one teaching
and learning session
From self analysis and by participating in learning programs with other 15 learners I
found my own skills and weaknesses. In learning session, there were different nature and
background of learners and by participating in this session with them I learned several new
things. In regards to the case of Cassie, who is 36 year old single parent of 3 children, lost her
mother and due to this reason she became depressed. In this session, I found that I have effective
integrity skills. This skill made me able in understanding her feeling and reason of having
Dyslexic. It is a disorder in which people fid difficulties in learning new and other things that
Document Page
have been taught to them (Amigud and et.al., 2018). With this skill I understood her and made
her feel comfortable at learning session. It made her feel valued and encouraged and I feel that
integrity plays a vital role in improving health of others.
On the other hand, I found that I lack in leading skill and an effective communication or
influencing skills. Working with learner, Aran, 17 years old intelligence boy, suffering from
some family problems and due to high expectation of family members, he started selling drugs.
But he is punctual and has effective time management skill. This skill made him able in
completing all projects and tasks given in learning session. So, I learned that time management
and having an ability of completing work on time can make an individual tension free. But due to
my lack of oral communication and influencing skill, I became fail in guiding and making him
aware about difference between right and wrong conduct and also making him able to know that
selling drugs and having poor relation with others can gradually affect performance
(Namaziandost and Nasri, 2019).
There were several learners and among all of them one was Lissa, 18 years old that got
100% attendance. She was talented and she wanted to progress onto university and her main
focus was on studies and by getting higher scores she wanted to setting up her own businesses.
So, from her I learned that concentration power and ability to be focused and motivated plays a
vital role in our lives. But on the other hand, I found that she became bored in learning session
and wanted some other activities. So, from this I also learned that it is important of having a
friendly and effective working environment and ability in people of managing a balance between
personal and professional life. I found that I have an effective team working and flexibility
skill. These skills made me able in improving relation with other learners (Chalak and Fouladi,
2016). I also found that I am lacking behind in decision making and critical thinking skill.
So, overall I can say that I am good in integrity, time management, flexibility and others
skills but I need to improve oral communication and decision making or problem solving skill.
5.3 Plan opportunities for improving own skills in relation to teaching and learning session
From the above discussed self analysis in learning session, I found that I am lacking
behind in some skills. For better learning and working with others in an effective manner it is
important to develop an action plan that can help me out in improving all these skills. Skills that
I have found for improvement and in which I am lacking behind include: oral communication,
Document Page
decision making. So, for increasing both these skills and becoming a good learner I can develop
an effective action plan (Alkhathlan, 2019). I believe that personal development plan is one of
the best ways that shows appropriate resources for improving skill such as:
Areas need to be improved Strategies and ways Time period
Oral communication For improving this skill,
people can participate in
seminars and take initiative of
interacting with people. It can
boost their confidence and can
help in improving oral
communication.
For speaking in an effective
manner, people can read
books loudly; it can improve
their speaking skill.
15-20 days
Decision making It is believed that for better
decision making and problem
solving, people have an ability
to observe things and ability to
analyze things in critical
manner.
By analyzing and increasing
observing level and taking
help of seniors and teachers,
this skill can be improved.
