The effects of absenteeism in your workplace: A case study of Walmart
While I was interning at Walmart as a Sales executive, I was involved in a team and in
association with this, it can be mentioned that I observed that there were a large number of
employees who took leaves quite often. In consideration with this, although this did not have any
influence on the sales of the enterprise, however, this had a sever influence on the manner in
which the team performed and the different workers were influenced. The low number of
workers had a considered influence on the temperament and workplace motivation of the various
workers who were required to undertake overtimes to compensate for the employees (Noe et al.,
2015). In consideration of this, it also had a very strong influence on the customer interactions as
well whereby the different employees due to the increase pressure were not very cordial with the
workers and this led to a loss of customers as well.
According to Kocakulah et al. (2016), in order to deal with this scenario, an associated
training program and technique had to be designed accordingly which would assist the workers
in understanding the punctuality regarding the workplace and the ways in which the employees
would be required to be dedicated. The negative influences on the worker`s image along with the
detrimental loss of the enterprise, due to the absent workers would also be discussed effectively.
Tis would assist in motivating the employees accordingly and lead to an improvement in the
absenteeism rate and the overall workplace performance as well.
