Response to Question 1:
Each employee working at his workplace expects to be justly and fairly treated and the
principles of organizational justice emphasize that each employee must be treated with
dignity and respect, and interrelation amongst the employees must reflect a sense of mutual
respect and integrity (Matthiesen and Einarsen 2015). However, in case of workplace
bullying, the supervisors often resort to unjust behaviour that have potentially negative
consequences of employee health and well-being. The unjust way in which an employee
might be bullied or harassed by the boss may de-motivate, frustrate and stress out an
employee that does break his sense of self-worth and dignity at workplace.
Response to Question 2:
Workplace bullying disastrously impact health, emotional well-being and mental
stability of an employee. Consequently, losing his sense of dignity, an employee loses interest
in coming to office regularly, and thus absenteeism and low productivity at work are
expected results of the same (Adams 2014). Besides, after being continually ridiculed or
mocked for his action, an employee may also lose confidence and faith in his ability to
accomplish tasks.
I personally believe that being bullied, one should try to stop acting scared and
intimidated, and if needed, must retaliate by complaining about the boss to the concerned
authority. If I were bullied at workplace, I would definitely not be silent about it, and rather
would escalate the matter to the higher authority with proper evidence and ensure that the
perpetrator gets punished.

Had I been a victim of workplace bullying, first of all, I would have completely
ignored the person bullying me. I would keep myself aloof and not pay any attention to the
perpetrator. If I find that the bully is still trying to intimidate me, I would confront him with
words “ Do you feel better now after pulling me down”, or “I still ignore you”. If I find that
the bully is still not learning his lesson, I would certainly escalate the issue to the higher
authority and inform my Managers and other supervisors and would ask the Human Resource
Managers to initiate action against the person, in compliance with the anti-bullying policy of
the company (Francioli et al. 2016). The least effective thing to do would be to sit back and
play the silent game for too long.
If my friend would have suffered from bullying, I would inform the higher
management, and hang out more with him as a bully never dares to bully a group, but targets
one person at a time.
Response to Question 4:
The bullies can be product of situations as those with prior experience of being bullied
and harassed at workplace tries to take on the anger and revenge on other people. Besides,
stress, workplace trauma or disturbed family relations also can produce bullies (Laschinger
and Nosko 2015). However, one can always overcome such anger issues through meditation
instead of making others suffer.
