Identify and define the components of the communication process. Describe what managers
need to know in order to communicate effectively in the workplace.
An ideal manager will make sure that he is being very transparent and approachable by all his
employees. In other words, he will make sure that his employees are being able to understand
whatever he is trying to communicate. In other words, he will have to use both the means of
communication that is verbal and non-verbal (Dalton 2017). He will use all the possible
communication methods like conducting group meeting and speaking in it or by arranging for
personal or face to face interviews with all his employees, On the other hand, he will also have to
communicate by the written means of communication like emails, group chats, and others.
A good manager will have to keep in mind that different employees learn from different
means of communication. He will also have to keep in mind the cultural differences among his
co-workers or his employees ( Dasgupta, Suar and Singh 2014). In other words, he must avoid
using the business jargons that might hurt the sentiments or the emotions of some of his
employees (Jaques 2017). So, he will have to keep a proper control over the kind of language
that he is using. He cannot use language or any kinds of words that might create
misunderstandings among his employees. Managers have to keep a control over their body
language as well. This forms an important part of the communication style. They have to speak
with proper confidence and maintain a proper eye contact with their subordinates while speaking.

Identify and define the barriers to effective communication. What can a manager do to
overcome these barriers?
Some of the barriers managers can face while communicating are the communication tools.
Often the social media tools or the electronic communication tools like emails, telephones,
WhatsApp group chats, and others go answered and unnoticed (Margerison 2017).
Overcome the barrier: The managers can overcome the same by making sure that his employees
are well informed about the information being circulated t them. This alert will help them to stay
awake and answer to the message that has been received by them.
Biasness is also one of the issues that managers might face. They might not pay attention to the
new employees thinking that they are the novice and are inexperienced.
Overcome the barrier: Managers must be impartial and keep an open mind. They must listen to
the argument of both the parties irrespective of their experience or time of service in the
organization. Managers must be good listeners and must allow all his employees to get a chance
of speaking.
