INTRODUCTION
While working in the business it is very necessary for the person to analyse the factors
which adds to the success of him within the business. Also, it is very necessary for the person to
always be ready for getting knowledge from any experience or from any possible thing from
which they can get knowledge. This is majorly because of the reason that from every situation
some or the other knowledge and skills are gained (Smith, 2015). The present essay is based on
the post of marketing manager of ABC company. Here the importance of communication will be
outlined in improving the performance of the business. Also, in the end a reflection of working
and communication in the professional world will be done.
PART A
Experience of effective communication at workplace
The communication is the key for any company to be successful. This is majorly because
of the reason that if the communication is not good in the company than this will have a huge
impact on the profitability of the company (Cropley, 2016). This is evident in the following
example where the marketing manager of ABC shares there experience on the incidence where
communication helped them in improving the performance of the business. This will be
explained with the help of Driscoll model.
The marketing manager says that communication is very necessary at every level of the
organization. This is because of the major reason that every person is not able to communicate
till the top management. Thus, on their behalf many other people communicate. In accordance
with the stage of Driscoll model that is what- the case was that the marketing manager was trying
to develop a marketing plan for the launching a new product (Cropley, 2015). But the marketing
manager did not communicate the launching if the new product with the lower level
management. In accordance with the second stage of Discoll model that is So what his can pose a
major issue in the development of the new product. This is majorly because of the reason that
they are the ones who actually works in the direction of the making of the new product (Al Saifi,
2015). The employees have more knowledge of what new things are going on in the market and
what all the new products can be brought in or what changes can be made in the existing product
so that they become new and innovative.
In relation to the last stage of the Driscoll model the stage is now what which outlines the
actions. But at time of launching the new product the marketing manager stuck at a point where

it had to decide which consumer group to target the most. This is because of the reason that the
manager just know the new product which is going to be launched and not the market dynamics
(Starko, 2017). At this point of time a staff of the customer relation department came and
suggested that the youth is the target consumer for the new product and provided a genuine
explanation. The marketing manager liked the suggestion of the staff. The staff also corrected the
manager at some other points also where the manager was wrong (Bengtsson and Carlson, 2015).
The manager liked the attitude of the worker and liked the sincerity of the employee
towards the organization. This is because of the reason that one more employee know the same
point but did not communicate to the top management (Hobbs, Grigore and Molesworth, 2016).
This was because of the reason that the higher management did not care for the lower level
people and this impacted the communication between them. With this inferior feeling of the
lower people they did not communicate with the higher authorities.
But the employee which communicated the wrong doing of the marketing manager was
appreciated and was rewarded. This is because of the reason that the suggestion of the employee
helped the marketing manager in rectifying the problem relating to the launch of new product
(Häkkinen and et.al., 2017). This communication helped the company in launching the new
product in the correct target market and the company was saved from a huge loss because of the
communication between the top and lower management.

Reflection
From the above the incident I learned that the Driscoll model was very helpful in
analysing the situation ODF the manager and also the case and the importance of the
communication. This is due to the fact that if the lower operational staff did not communicate the
information to the marketing manager then the new product would have been launched in wrong
market and because of this the company may suffer huge losses. But the communication saved
the company from being in heavy losses. This is due to the importance of communication skill
that the lower operational staff dared to communicate the correct thing with the marketing
manager. I personally feel that what the other worker did was wrong that is he knew that the
marketing manager was wrong but then also he did not say anything because of their position
gap. Also, I learnt that communication is very important and it needs to be fostered in between
the lower and the upper management.

CONCLUSION
From the above study it was concluded that the communication plays a very important
role within the success and performance of the company. This is because of the reason that if
communication will not be efficient then the company will not have much success. This is the
major reason underlying the essay. The essay started with the experience f the manager within
the company and how communication helped the company in improving its performance. Also,
in the end a reflection of the learning from the whole case was discussed in the end.
