INTRODUCTION
Workplace barriers while communicating are those which are not allowing people
working into company to understand what the other is trying to say or communicate to them.
This report will be covering mind map of various workplace communication barriers from
different books, journals and websites. Further, it would be covering reading techniques like that
of skimming, reviewing, scanning and summarising.
TASK 1
1.1 Framing of purposeful questions for providing focus on investigation
In the following part Workplace Communication Barriers will be included to produce a
mind map. Work place communication barriers are regulating 3 main source like that of book,
journal and websites.

2.2 Using specified reading techniques
Reading techniques means those methods which are allowing readers to convert the
written materials into meaningful and sensible language so that they could be interacting with
message and understanding it clearly (Fountas and Pinnell, 2001). There are various techniques
of reading that are needed to be applied for fluency and comprehensive learning like that of
skimming, scanning, reviewing and summarising and these are done at the time of using all these
included sources.
Skimming- It is termed as taking out idea from the whole text like at time of reading journal only
going through Abstract reader will be able to make out certain idea from that. This is required to
preview through the whole detailed review in order to understand actual meaning. Only going
through abstract of journal reader could be having overall knowledge about what the topic is all
about and what technique or conclusion is been included.
Reviewing- It would be aiming at clear understanding of whole text or book so that the reader
would be able to teach what they have learned from others. This would be including 5 basic steps
like that of survey, questions, reading, reciting and reviewing which will be telling the way to
make out importance of that reading.
Scanning- At the time of reading book or journal, it is required that reader is going through that
reading material. So, scanning will be included as a reading technique in which only by going
through certain points, readers can understand whole text or topic (Alshumaimeri, 2017).
Summarising- It is called as summarising of what is being read or understood from the journal
or book on workplace barriers.
TASK 2
3.1 Explaining example of implicit meaning in various types
Hint- It is a small or slight indirect idea of clue which is indicating something in the form of idea
or practice information. Hint is generally an indirect form of suggesting one person what to do
and what should be avoided. Example: Manager has not given hint of the upcoming event in
company.

Suggestion- This is clear, specified and direct idea which needs to be forwarded by one person
so that it could be considered or implemented. Suggestion will also be implying or indicating
certain level of facts at the time of any situation whether it is correct or not (Halliday and Hasan,
2014). Example: Here are some suggestions in order to tackle communication barriers related
problem.
Connotation- It is the clear meaning of certain or specified idea which would be helping person
so that it could be added upon primary meaning of that idea. Instance: Discipline would be an
unhappy connotation of punishment and repression.
Allusion- It is that expression which is regulating a particular idea of something without giving
specified name or mentioning it exclusively which could also called as an indirect or just a
passing reference. Example: The management of company without giving any direct allusion to
late comers implemented the penalty policy within organisation.
Inference- It will be defined as specified conclusion that could be reached after providing or
including proper evidence and reason as well. Example: Researchers are entrusted with drawing
inference from the data.
Assumption- If anything which without having any proof is been accepted that it was happened
and is true then it is called as assumption. Instance: There are certain assumptions which are
made that of future trends in market.
Irony- the expression of meaning of someone sentence which is used through a language
normally signifying opposite or humorous impact (Crystal and Davy, 2016). Instance: Don’t go
overboard with the gratitude’ “he re-joined with heavy irony”.
Sarcasm- It would be use of irony in the form of mock or in satire way. Example: He didn’t like
the note of sarcasm in her voice.
Metaphor- It is in the form of figure of speech which is implying to specified object and action
to that particular thing towards which it is not applicable. Example: When speak of gene maps
and gene mapping, we could be using cartographic metaphor.
Numeric coding- It is converting alphabets into the digits of binary. Like: code of BCD in
alphabets is 7 of 0111 and 8 of 1000.
