INTRODUCTION
Background
The equality is defined as the ability of company for providing of equal and proper
opportunity to every worker operating in business. The diversity on other hand is defined as the
hiring of employees coming from different cultural backgrounds. Both the concept that is
diversity and equality are necessary for business to be managed as this will improve the working
and operations of the business. for the proper management of diversity and equality the most
essential aspect is managing workplace discrimination. Discrimination relating to workplace is
referred to as the discriminating among the employees within the company on different basis like
their skills, expertise, age, gender, qualification, position and other discriminating factors. The
current study is based over hotel Hilton which is a full service resort ad hotel brand of American
multinational hospitality company and was founded in the year 1919 by Conrad Hilton. Present
report aims at finding out strategies for reducing of discrimination relating to workplace for the
proper management of diversity and equality relating to workplace. Also, benefit of reducing
workplace discrimination and importance of the equality and diversity in the company will be
analysed.

discriminating practices and this decreases the productivity of the company. Thus, this topic of
research that is managing workplace discrimination is very essential for the success of the
company. Thus, this is the major reason for the researcher to select this research topic as this will
help the company and researcher in gaining knowledge of ways of reducing workplace

discrimination. Also, another important reason for the selection of this is the personal and
academic interest of researcher themselves.
LITERATURE REVIEW
In the views of Lewis, Glambek and Hoel, (2020) the maintenance of diversity and
equality within the workplace is the most essential thing in getting success. The major reason
that when the company has proper diversity and equality within the company then employees
within the company are motivated to work better. Thus, there are many different ways and
strategies for the managing of equality and diversity.
As per the views of Rosenblat and et.al, (2017) the major strategy for management of
diversity and equality within the workplace is to provide equal opportunities to all the
employees. This will motivate the employees in managing their work in proper and motivated
manner and in more effective & efficient way. Equal opportunity will make the employees feel
that they are growing and develop themselves and try to grow. On the other side Stergiou-Kita,
Pritlove and Kirsh, (2016) argues that providing of training and educating the employees will
help the employees in gaining more knowledge and expertise. Thus, for this the employees will
be able to gain more knowledge relating to different cultures. This will make the employees
more attractive towards to the other cultures and this will also increase the respect of employees
of other cultures.
On flip side, Colella and King, eds., (2018) there are many different benefits which are
enjoyed by the company when they try to decrease the discrimination taking place at the
organization. This is majorly due to the reason that when company tries to manage the working
environment and this will increase the profitability of the company. Thus, the major benefit of
maintaining the workplace discrimination is that this will result in increase in the productivity
and profitability of the company.
In contrast to this Plexico and et.al, (2019) states that the major benefit of reducing the
workplace discrimination and management of diversity and equality is that goodwill of business
increases. This is majorly because of the reason that when the company will provide good and
equal opportunities to all employees and will not discriminate among the employees then the
market value of the company will increase. Thus, this will help the company in attracting more
of the consumer and to increase the market share to a great extent.

In addition to this another major benefit of reducing the workplace discrimination is that
this will increase the sales of business. The major reason pertaining is that when the company
promoted diversity and equality in the work then the organization is able to product more
qualitative products and this attracts the consumer to a great extent. Thus, this increases the sales
of company and assists the company in increasing the sales of company and this in turn increases
the revenue and income of the company to a great extent.
As per the views of Fekedulegn and et.al, (2019) the major importance of equality and
diversity within the firm is that this will assist the company in creating coordinated and
harmonious environment at the workplace. This is a major importance as the company is able to
make coordination among all the activities of the business. Thus, this will make the environment
better and effective and will motivate workers to operate in more good way. Hence, coordinated
efforts help the company in attaining the objectives and goals of the business in much better and
good way.
Along with this Stypinska and Turek, (2017) states that other benefit for the management
of diversity and equality at the organization is that this increases team work and team
development of business organization. The major reason is that when the company maintain
equality and diversity then all the employees work as a single team and in more coordinated and
effective manner. This will increase the working efficiency of the company and will result in
better performance and increased productivity of the company.
RESEARCH METHODS
Type of research- the way of doing the research is of two different types that are
qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative method is the one in which researcher undertakes
attributes, values and qualitative data for study. In against of this, the research based on numbers
that is quantitative is the one which uses numbers and factual information for the study. Thus, for
the present research the type of research selected is the qualitative. This type of research will be
selected as this will assist the researcher in gaining facts relating to topic of research.
Approach of research- research approach is of two different ways that is inductive and
deductive approach. Inductive approach deals with the framing of objective and aim matching
with the topic of the research. On the other side deductive approach includes the formulation of
hypothesis and testing of it. Thus, for completion of present research the researcher will make
use of inductive research approach (Hennink, Hutter and Bailey, 2020). This will be used as this

will assist the researcher in formulation of the aim and objective and then to direct the whole
study in attainment of aim and objective.
Philosophy of research- the philosophy of research is of two various types that is
interpretivism and positivism. The philosophy of postivism is the study that inculcates the
analysis of information which is factual with respect to the topic of research and interpretivism
includes integration of interest of human within the study. Thus, for the accomplishment of the
current research the interpretivism philosophy will be used. This will be majorly used by the
researcher as this is best suited with qualitative type of research.
Collection of data- the data can be collected with majorly two sources that is secondary
source and primary source (Litosseliti, 2018). Thus, in order to finish the study, the combination
of the secondary source and primary source will be implemented within the research. This is due
to the fact that when the combination is used then the data is collected in more valid and reliable
manner. For the primary research the use of questionnaire will be made and for purpose of
secondary source the use of different boos, journal and other published data will be done.
Sampling- the sampling is referred to as selecting of some sample and then collecting
data from them in form of providing of questionnaire. Thus, for this reason that sample of 30
employees of hotel Hilton will be selected and data will be collected from them in form of
questionnaire and then the collected data will be analysed and conclusion will be drawn from it.
Analysis of data- the data analysis is very essential for success of the research because if
the research will not be good then the research will not be able to reach to intended outcome. The
analysing the data for the research will be done with help of thematic analysis. This is used
because of the reason that thematic analysis includes using the attractive methods of presenting
data like graphs, charts and others.
Consideration relating to ethics- for the successful completion of research it is necessary
for that research will not take into ethical consideration then the research will not be valid and
reliable. Thus, for this the most essential thing is the signing of the consent and ethical approval
of the participant who are providing the data (Bell, Bryman and Harley, 2018).
