TITLE
To investigate the impact of workplace discrimination on performance of workers – A study
based on Sainsbury.
INTRODUCTION
Managing Human resource for the organization is one of the biggest task for all the
organization to perform in current scenario. It has been identified that in the era of globalization
it get difficult for the organization to maintain a good sort of human resource of the company.
Workplace discrimination used to play a very crucial role in the same (Kumar, 2019). This
report will eventually help the individual in building good knowledge about the same for the
organization. Sainsbury is the retail sector firm whom are also suffering from the same issue in
the organization in the current scenario. This proposal will highlights the objective research
method and way different data has been collected in the organization, to carry out the research
into the organization.
Research Question
What are different aspect of workplace discrimination?
What are different impact of workplace discrimination on the employee at Sainsbury?
What are different challenges faced by organization at the time of managing workplace
discrimination?
What is the best way through which organization can reduce the impact of workplace
discrimination?
Rationale
In the current scenario it is very difficult for all the organization to maintain a good sort of
human capital in the organization. As one of the increasing issue which is seen by all the
organization in current scenario is increasing impact of workplace discrimination. All the
organization generally used to find it difficult to reduce the discrimination; this is the biggest
reason which has motivated me to select the topic so that different aspect of the same can be
understood by me in the organization. Another thing which has motivated me to conduct the
study is to suggest the vareiety of the ways through which impact of workplace discrimination
can be reduce in the Sainsbury, as Sainsbury is the organization who is facing the same issue in

the current scenario. There are many different Author and researcher who have already
conducted the investigation on the same issue in the past, this research will be consider the same
and try to build new information on the same to give the better answer to the question and
provide the solution to the issue which is being faced by the Sainsbury.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Objective
To understand different aspect of workplace discrimination
To analysis the different impact of workplace discrimination on the employee at
Sainsbury
To ascertain different challenges faced by organization at the time of managing
workplace discrimination
To recommended the best way through which organization can reduce the impact of
workplace discrimination.
Research Method
Research methods are the specific procedure or technique which is generally used by the scholar
to select, process and analysis information about the topic of the study which has been select by
Scholar. This section generally used to help the reader to critically evaluate overall reliability
and validity of the research.
Research Type: Research is the investigation which is generally conducted by the
scholar to provide the good and clear solution of the issue which is being faced by the
organization as a whole (Ledford and Gast, 2018). There are two very common type of the
research which are generally seen by the Scholar to be used i.e Qualitative and Quantitative
research. Qualitative research is the type of the research in which the different outcome of the
research is being carried out in the non numeric form, this type of outcome generally includes
the behaviour and different knowledge. At the same time Quantitative research is the type of the
research in which the different outcome are generally carried out for the firm in the numeric
form. To find out the solution for the Sainsbury, the research will go with the qualitative
research type reason behind the same is identified that it will get difficult for the scholar to
present the outcome in the numeric form, as finding out the solution of this issue will require the

individual to understand the knowledge as well as behaviour of different individual in the
market.
Research Philosophy: Research Philosophy is different sort of the belief in which data
about a phenomenon can be gathered, analysed and used. Research philosophies generally used
to encompasses the different belief what is belief is true and what is known to be true. Positivism
and Interpretivism are two of the most trusted and commonly used philosophy by the scholar to
carry out the outcome of the project. Positivism is the method which used to believe that reality
in general is stable and can be observed. This method generally used to go through the natural
phenomenon and different properties and relations. Interpretivism method at the same time is the
method in the organization in which Human interest is generally studied by the scholar to carry
out different operation in the research. Scholar will go with the Interpretivism research
philosophy in the project to carry out the same in the organization, as it has been analysed that
this type of the philosophy generally used to help the Scholar in understanding the human behav
Research Approach: Research approach is generally defines as set of the assumption
which are made in the study in the context of the data collection, analysis and interpretation in
an organization (Wåhlberg, 2017). There are two different type of the research approach which
can be used by the scholar to carry out the solution for the organization namely deductive and
inductive. Deductive approach is the approach which is well known for developing variety of the
hypothesis on the basis of already made theory in the organization. At the same time it has been
identified that Inductive approach is the approach in the organization which looks at developing
the variety of the new type of the hypothesis in the organization on the basis of the data collected
in the current scenario. Scholar to carry out the research on the topic “To investigate the impact
of workplace discrimination on performance of workers” has used inductive research in the
organization, reason behind the same is that it will help the Scholar in supporting the type of the
research type which has been selected by the scholar in the market
Sampling: Sampling is the process of selection or sourcing number of the respondent
which can be targeted by the scholar to collect the data in the organization. Sampling is
generally done to collect the primary data. There will be two different options which will be
available in front of the scholar to select any one out of them and collect different primary data
in an organization. Two sampling method are Probabilistic and non probabilistic. Probabilistic is
the method in which the scholar generally allows all respondent or the candidate to get select in
5

the cut of number of the respondent for the organization. At the same time non probabilistic
method is the method in the organization in which all the respondent do not get the equal chance
to get selected in the cut. Scholar has selected the random sampling method in Probablistic
method to select the sample size to collect the different primary data. Sample size which has
been selected by the scholar is the 50 employee of Sainsbury.
Data Analysis: Data analysing is the process in the organization in which the scholar
used to conduct the different activity in a way that it used to help the scholar in presenting the
different data more easily in front of the other in the market. So that the different party who are
interested in the project can find it easy to understand the different presentation of the Data. For
this research scholar has gone with the thematic data analysis tool to analysis the different data
which has been collected by the scholar in the market, Scholar will generally presented the
different data with the help of different graph and table in the organization, this will eventually
help the organization and the other viewer in understanding the different data which is presented
more easily in the organization.
Ethical considerations: Ethics are rules and regulations which guided investigators what
to do and what not to do. They are rigid norms which have to be followed by each investigators
during investigation. Ethical considerations means participants should be informed and their
consent should be taken before disclosing information to the research (Ørngreen and Levinsen,
2017).
Reliability and validity: Data which have been collected should be evaluated by using
two measures i.e. reliability and validity of the data. Reliability of data refers to the consistency
of measures. The data collected should be accurate. Reliability can be measures by comparing
the data from various sources and find out that data from each source is same where as validity
refer to that data should be collected from the place which should be valid and legal according ti
government and also not infringing rights of the firms
Research limitations: Time is the main problem which is faced by investigators while
completing research. Management is not able to do time management appropriately as time is
needed for various reasons. For gathering information then analysis and interpret the data
required plenty of time. Sample size is another obstacle which is faced by investigators as for
research they have to decide how many respondents are needed through which reliable and
accurate data can be collected.

FIELD WORK DESIGN
For collecting the different data related to the investigation Scholar will take help of variety
of the source to collect the information and analysis the same. In general there are two different
type of the sources through which the different scholar used to collect the data in the research to
carry out the outcome of the research for the organization. Namely two type of data collection
tool are Secondary data collection tool and primary data collection tool.
Secondary data is collected from the source other then the point of originated. Secondary
data can be collected from newsletter, magazine, books, internet etc (Clandinin, Cave and
Berendonk, 2017). It is not original data as it has collected for other purpose. Data is not reliable
and accurate. Secondary data is collected as it consumes less time and money and can be
collected easily. Scholar will be using both primary as well as secondary data collection tool to
collect the different data to carry out the outcome of the project for the organization. To collect
the secondary data into the research. Scholar will follow the simple plan into the organization, In
the first step the scholar will collect the variety of the book and journal related to the topic of the
research. Also, scholar will be collecting the different article online which used to define and
explain the different research which has been conducted by variety of the Author in the past.
After that the scholar will take help of variety of the senior in the organization to understand the
viability of the different secondary sources which has been collected by the individual in the
market. As there many different type of the sources which used to give the wrong full data or the
information can impact the performance of the research project very adversely in the
organization. After that in the next step scholar will go through all the selected source
information and will try to figure out the best information which is available in the market, out
of all the information which is in present of the scholar. After collecting the information a mail
will send to the tutor and all the information which has been collected by the scholar will get
checked by the tutor. After the approval from the tutor end only the scholar will be using the
same information in the organization, to carry out different operation of the research into the
organization.
Primary data collection is collected for first time from the place of originated then the
data is known as primary data. It is the data which is collected by investigators by the help of
questionnaires. Itvis original data there is low change of misleading of data. The data which is

collected from primary data collection tool are more accurate and reliable. Primary data will be
collected by the scholar with the help of going through a longer process. This will be collected
with the help of conduction of the survey on the basis of the questionnaire upon the 50 employee
of an organization. Process is as follows (CuervoCazurra and et.al., 2017).
In the first step number of the respondent will be selected by the scholar on the basis of the
whom different information will be collected by the scholar in the market. Scholar will be
collected with the help of the simple random sampling method in an organization. After that in
the second step different question which will be asked from the different respondent in the
organization to collect the variety of the information which are related to the topic. After that in
the next step the different question questionnaire will be sent to the tutor to get the approval on
the same on their side. After that different respondent will be informed about the different details
about the survey that is data and scheduling detail of the same in the market. After that the
respondent will mail the questionnaire with the help of the mail and post to the respondent and
will ask the response from their side in the organization. After that the respondent will be
synchronizing the different information which has been collected form the respondent end and
will try to find out the solution of the issue which is being faced by the organization in current
scenario (Ulmer, 2017). Questionnaire is as follows:

After going through the project there will be very different outcome which will be seen by
the Sainsbury as a whole. This investigation will help the Sainsbury in finding out the different
issue of the discrimination which are present in the organization in the current scenario, After
that the report will also help the Sainsbury in understanding the different ways through which
the they can reduce the impact of the same in the organization and also will help the
organization in understanding the viability of all the ways. This report will also help in
understanding the impact which will be brought by the workplace discrimination on the
performance of different employee in the organization.
