Introduction:
With the rapid development of globalisation, the way of hiring people in the
organisations is changing in a rapid manner. Thus, the innovative companies must
be well-diverse which the key of innovative ideas is and thus improve the business
process. This paper outs forth the discussion of the current trend of diversity and
inclusion in the workplace and impact on the human resource strategy.
Concept of diversity in workplace:
Diversity is considered as the mixture of attributes in a workforce which can
influence the way, through which the people in an organisation think, feel and act. In
addition, diversity also affects the acceptance, work performance and satisfaction in
the workplace. Diversity, in its simplest form is defined as the different perspective of
the staffs in an organisation, which who belong from different identity group.
Diversity in the workplace is one of the critical factors in the organisation as it helps
the companies to produce diverse ranges of products and thus keep the customers
satisfied. With the prompt emergence of global market, workplace diversity is
becoming the top most priority for the organisation as it is the key of incorporating
diverse range of people.
Significance of diversity in workplace:
Workplace diverse is one of the greatest ways of one of creating a healthy
environment inside the workplace as diversity fosters mutual respect among the
staffs. Economic empowerment of the marginalised people is one of the major
advantages of diversity in the workplace. It has been observed that the trend of
recruiting ethnic minorities and women in the work place is increasing in a rapid
manner. In addition, shift in the recruitment policy for the sake of recruiting the LGBT
community is increasing in a rapid manner.
In order to promote healthy working environment in the workplace, the higher
authority of the firms are putting more stress on hiring diverse ranges of people. This
is the way, through which the issues related to social biases and age gap can also
be mitigated. With the assistance of inclusion, the organisations are also becoming

able to promote growth and productivity which is the key of amplifying the rate of
profitability which is the key of strengthening the position of a company in the
hardcore competitive market. Apart from the emergence of globalisation and
international market, the government is also imposing certain rules and regulations
for hiring the ethnic minorities, women and LGBT communities in the workplace.
Australia is one of the most emerging countries around the world, which is putting
consistent stress on providing equal employment opportunity to all the people
without making any kind of discrimination. The national and state laws of the country
are stating the fact that it is unlawful to discriminate the candidates on the basis of
race, colour, gender, sexual orientation, marital status and religion (Business.gov.au.
2019).
The aboriginal people are the most marginalised people in Australia who were
mostly disadvantaged in terms of accessing educational and employment
opportunity. Thus, in order to provide equal employment opportunity to the
marginalised people, Indigenous Cadetship Support has been established in
Australia, which intends to offer the indigenous people with equal employment
opportunity and Tailored Assistance Employment Grant (Ics.employment.gov.au.
2019). Hiring the women employees in the workplace is also a latest trend in the
contemporary times. The government is putting consistent stress on diverse
workplace which is the key of attaining larger benefits for the companies. Thus, it has
become the topmost priority for the organisations to hire female employees and offer
them with flexible working arrangements, which is the key of ensuring the fact that
the staffs’ especially female staffs can balance their personal and professional life.
Government is also stating the fact that fact that it is imperative to avoid
discriminating the female employees on the basis of marital status, pregnancy and
family responsibilities.
Impact of diversity and inclusion on HR practices:
Being the most diverse country around the world, Australia is also putting
stress on providing employment opportunity to the LGBT community. Australia’s
national LGBTI job board has been developed in order to encourage the people from
LGBT community to be connected with the organisations directly (Lgbtijobs.com.au.
2019). Such diversity and inclusion is influencing the HR (human resource) approach

and acting as the driving force behind the HR department of the organisations to
modify their recruitment and selection process. Diversity and inclusion is also leading
the companies to avoid imposing discriminatory policies in the way of recruiting and
selecting staffs, providing training to them and allowing them to take part in the
decision making process.
Conclusion:
Based on the discussion, it can be concluded by saying that more stress is
putting by the companies in order to hire diverse people for the sake of satisfying
diverse demand of the customers. Diversity and inclusion is considered as one of the
most collective business topics in the contemporary times which is serving the firms
with the ability to satisfy their staffing demand.
