Introduction
Employee welfare refers to improving the well-being of the employees with the help of
various methods such as increased salary, meal break, health insurance, annual leave and various
others. The team presentation discuses about all these points and further it also discusses about a
diverse workforce. Self-reflection on my role as a team member will help me in identification of
my strengths and weaknesses and it will also help in improving my knowledge about how well I
work in teams or the areas which need improvement (Alsharo, Gregg and Ramirez 2017). As a
part of the team my role was understanding the concept of employee welfare and discussing the
same with others in the team. Our group comprised of people from different background. In
order to measure the group effectiveness, feedbacks can be taken or the productivity of the group
can also be measured. The main aim of the paper is to carry out a self-reflection and discuss
about the establishment of teams, team processes, strengths and challenges of working in team,
and various others.
Establishing the group
We formed a group when we all first met in the tutorial classes and were sitting in the
table; from there we were formed as a team. The sense of teamwork was developed in us when
we had our group discussion and we found out that everyone was ready to work hard for
achieving the common goals of the objectives. We all decided our goals and objectives and laid
down a routine about how many times in a week we would be meeting. It was on that day only,
when we all elected the leader through mutual consent of all on the basis of different criteria’s. It
was the leader who further decided which person of the group will be doing what on the basis of

our skills and areas of interest and who all will be discussing which points. In this way our
knowledge and skills was put to best practice through proper discussion with the leader.
Team processes
The group communicated face-to-face directly through regular meeting weekly. Besides
the face to face interaction we had made a group on the social media platform such that we could
discuss any problems faced by us and that could be solved immediately before turning into a big
problem. This also helped us communicate with each other informally (Liang, Shih and Chiang
2015). The group decided that there will be certain codes of conduct that needs to be followed in
both the channels of communication that is face to face communication and also the
communication taking place through social media. According to the same, sharing any content
that is not ethical or that can cause any harm to anyone verbally were restricted. For instance
there were many people from different cultures in the group therefore the leader ensured that no
one felt hurt due to anything. In case of non-compliance, each member would be given three
chances and after that different kinds of actions would be taken against them that could even lead
to even removal of members from the team. In weekly meetings feedbacks were taken about the
working of the teams and on the basis of some a few processes were changed. Tests were
conducted in form of role-playing. We role-played as if we were working in the organization and
tried understanding what all problems could arise and what all factors motivated to employee
welfare. This helped us all in understanding the organizational processes properly.
Strengths and challenges
Our group comprised of people from different countries and therefore different members
had different cultures, beliefs and values and others (Prause and Mujtaba 2015). The different

aspects of diversity that was applied in our group was that whenever we decided about changing
our processes there were different views because certain culture has a high score on uncertainty
avoidance and some score a lower marks in the same. This means that some people agreed to
changes easily as compared to others. This caused a few problems. Few other challenges
included conflicts among the members because they had formed separate informal groups and in
case of any issues arising between them the entire team had to suffer and moreover the leader
was unable to understand the same because he was not a part of the informal group where again
diversity of culture became a problem. The strengths of diversity was that a members came up
with different ideas on achieving the common goals and that gave the team more options and
therefore helped in decision making. Some members were competitive as a result of their culture
and therefore they worked really hard and helped in improving efficiency.
Equal contribution policy
There are different kinds of problems that may arise as a result of the equal contribution
policy. If the members feel that all the members are not contributing to the team success equally
in terms of time, vale and content then they may start developing harsh feelings against each
other and further conflicts may occur. In order to avoid the same, we developed our own equal
contribution policies, which included the reviewing of performance at the end of the week for
each member, in case of meetings it was ensured that everyone came on time and everyone left at
the same time. Everyone was required to work in coordination with each other and to ask
questions and in case any member felt that other member was not contributing equally, they
would have to inform the leader and the leader would further look into the matters.

Conclusion
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that team work plays an important role in
achieving the common goals. The main aim of the paper is to carry out a self-reflection for
understanding how well the group worked and to understand if any challenges were faced by the
organization while working as a team. The paper discusses about establishment of groups, team
processes, discusses about the strengths and weaknesses of the team as a whole, the equal
contribution policy of the team and if that helped in ensuring equitable contribution by all. In
order to overcoming the conflicts that occurred in the organization, the communication could
have been done differently.
