As stated by Kim, Lee and Kim (2015), diversity had become an important aspect of the
workforces of the different business corporations and the process of internationalization or
globalization had substantially contributed towards the diversification of the diverse workplaces.
Guillaume et al. (2017) are of the viewpoint that effective management of diverse workforce
helps the business corporations to complete wide variety of projects or tasks, helps the workers
to learn new skill sets or knowledge from their colleagues and others. These in turn positively
affects the business corporations and often helps them to effectively achieve their business or
organizational objectives (Graham, Belliveau & Hotchkiss, 2017). In this paper, I would
undertake an analysis of diversity management within the organization that I work for while
highlighting my own sense of integration within the same.
The organization that I work for takes the help of effective diversity management
programs for the management of the diverse workforce that the business corporation boasts of.
For instance, it had been seen that frequently organizes different kinds of events as well as
workshops wherein the workers have the opportunity to develop cultural competency as well as
social intelligence which is essential for the individuals to learn to work with other individuals
from diverse backgrounds. More importantly, the workers are also being encouraged to
acknowledge as well as respect the differences in cultures of the workers and also the
organization has stringent policies for the workers who purposefully disrespect the workers from
other diverse backgrounds.
I would like to say that initially I felt like an outsider when I started to work in the
organization since I was not acquainted with the social or the cultural traditions which are being
followed by my colleagues. However, gradually I got acquainted with the social or the cultural
traditions followed by them and this in turn helped me to assimilate with them and this in turn

removed my feeling of being an outsider in the workplace. More importantly, by effectively
participating in the different cultural as well as social events organized by the organization I have
learned to respect the social or the cultural traditions followed by my colleagues and also
developed social or cultural competency and cultural empathy. This in turn had helped me to
ingrain myself within the workplace of the concerned organization and also to work in a
congenial with my colleagues who are from different cultural and social backgrounds.
To conclude, workplace diversity had become an important characteristic feature of the
workplaces of the different contemporary business corporations. Furthermore, the business
corporations are required to take the help of adequate measures for the effective management of
their workplace diversity and also help their workers to develop social or cultural intelligence,
cultural empathy and others. These are likely to help the workers to not only acknowledge or
respect the workplace diversity but also to learn new skill sets from their colleagues as well
which in turn is likely to boost their job productivity and thereby overall organizational
productivity as well.
