1MANAGEMENT PEOPLE AND TEAMS
Introduction
As opined by Roberson (2019), the workforce of the different contemporary business
corporations had become highly diverse in nature because of the positive impact of globalization
and the employment opportunities that the business corporations to the people from minority
backgrounds. Roberson, Ryan and Ragins (2017) are of the viewpoint that unlike the earlier
times wherein it was seen that the workforce of the different business corporations was uniform
in nature in the present times it had become very diverse. More importantly, it had been seen that
the effective usage of the workforce diversity had offered different benefits to the business
corporations which they can utilize for the purpose of attaining a higher level of success or
growth (Cook & Glass, 2015).
As discussed by Goldstein Hode and Meisenbach (2017), having a diverse workforce
affords the opportunity to the business corporations to enhance the quality as well as the quantity
of the products or services offered by them by encouraging the employees to take the help of the
entities of innovation, creativity, different varieties of programing and others. Furthermore, the
employees also have the opportunity to learn new skills or knowledge from their colleagues
related to diverse backgrounds and thereby improve the quality of work that they perform
(Hawkins, 2017). This paper undertakes a critical review of the presentation, which was offered
to me by my professor, related to the topic of workplace diversity and its benefits.
Review of the Presentation
The presentation focuses on the concept of diversity and inclusion and also the likely
benefits that the business corporations have the opportunity to derive through the effective usage

of the same. More importantly, one of the most important aspects of the presentation under
discussion here is the fact that it takes the help of the examples of the business corporations of
Toyota, Nissan and others and the manner in which they have used the construct of diversity and
inclusion within the framework of their workplaces. For instance, the speaker in the video
presentation clearly mentions the fact that the diversity within the business corporation Toyota is
only 3% in terms of percentage of women employees within the framework of the concerned
corporation. This in turn had contributed substantially towards the different issues that the
concerned corporation had faced over the years in terms of the management of its workforce and
thereby adversely affected not only the profitability of the corporation but also the growth
attained by the corporation as well. Furthermore, in order to substantial this particular argument
it is seen that the speaker in the presentation under discussion here takes the help of the example
of the business corporation Nissan which in the present times had been able to attain a substantial
amount of success through the effective usage of the construct of workplace diversity. For
example, within the workforce of the corporation Nissan it is seen that the percentage of the
women employees holding important managerial positions is more than 10% which in turn had
contributed effectively towards the diversity of the workforce of the concerned corporation.
One of the most important points that the speaker in the presentation makes is the fact
that the entity of workplace diversity allows the business corporations to take the help of the
constructs of innovation and creativity. For instance, the workers have the opportunity to gain
new knowledge or for that matter skill sets from their colleagues, which in turn is likely to
improve the quality as well as the quantity of the work that is being performed by them.
Furthermore, the presenter specially takes the help of the example of the business corporation
Nissan and also the manner in which it had been able to take advantage of the high percentage of

women employees within its workforce for the designing of Note e-power car as well as the for
the effective marketing of the same. In this relation, it needs to be said that the women
managerial employees of the concerned corporation were consulted for the designing of the car
under discussion here and the inputs as well as the suggestions offered by them were being taken
into account for the same. Moreover, the same process was being followed by the corporation
under discussion here for the adequate formulation of the marketing strategies which had been
used for the promotion or the marketing of the concerned car. In addition to these, it is seen that
commenting on the benefits offered by the process of effective utilization of the construct of
workplace diversity it is seen that the speaker states that the business corporations have the
opportunity to enhance their productivity, undertake product or service innovation, the
employees have the opportunity to take the help of different programming processes and others.
These are important from the perspective of the contemporary business corporations since they
directly influence the profitability of the corporations, the attainment or for that matter the
achievement of the business or the strategic goals outlined by them, their ability to attain
competitive advantage and also the growth or the success that they attain.
The speaker in the presentation had effectively taken the help of the rhetorical devices of
ethos, pathos and logos. For instance, it had been seen that different kinds of numerical data,
statistics, credible sources and others are being used by the speakers to enhance the impact of the
arguments which are being presented by him in the presentation under discussion. In addition to
these, it had been seen that the speaker is being able to drive home adequately the points which
he tries to make in the presentation through the effective usage of the examples of the business
corporations of Toyota, Nissan and others. These in turn had substantially enhanced the quality
as well as the effectiveness of the presentation as well. However, the major shortcoming of the

presentation lies in the manner in which the speaker had presented the presentation. For instance,
it had been seen that the speaker in a linear manner makes the different arguments without
effectively undertaking any voice or tone modulations, gestures, hand movements (used in only
one section of the presentation) and others. Furthermore, the strong accent of the speaker or the
presenter is one of the most important aspects of the presentation under discussion here which in
turn had substantially lower down the quality of the entire presentation.
Conclusion
To conclude, the constructs of diversity and inclusion had become important ones from
the perspective of the different contemporary business corporations. Furthermore, it had been
seen that the effective usage of these two constructs offers different benefits to the business
corporations like the enhancement of productivity, improvement of the quality of the work
performed by the employees, enhancement of profitability and others. However, as the
presentation discussed in this paper makes it apparent that the majority of the business
corporations like Toyota and others despite the numerous benefits offered by the construct of
diversity and inclusion ignored them. On the other hand, it had been seen that there are business
corporations like Nissan and others have been able to take adequate advantage of the workforce
diversity that they boast of and this in turn had contributed effectively towards the growth
attained by them over the years. These aspects of the constructs of diversity and inclusion and
the benefits that the adequate usage of the same offers to the contemporary business corporations
become apparent from the above discussion of the same in the light of the presentation provided
to me by my Professor.
