The case study chosen is about a lady from Iran named Ilnaz. She gave a job interview and
did very well in that. The manager of the company CompuSoft offered a job to her
immediately. Ilnaz reported to the office on the following week and was given the
responsibility of working on a project with a male colleague Mark. As [per her religion, she
was not allowed to be in touch with an unrelated man and her husband was also not agree
with such work arrangement and told her to leave the job. Ilnaz has also decided to discuss
this situation with her manager and find the appropriate solution. The legislation that has
been covered in this case study is the Sex Discrimination Act, 1984. Thomas White’s
framework is being utilized in this report in order to solve this ethical dilemma Ilnaz is facing.
Following are some steps involved in solving this dilemma:
Step1- Analyse the consequences
Ilnaz is facing the ethical dilemma at her office regarding communication with the manager
regarding the problem facing by her. In the case, it has been given that as per her religion
she is not allowed to work with an unrelated man. Due to such reason, she as well as the
work of the organization is getting being affected. Following values of the code of ethics are
required to be considered by her:
Clause 1.2.1 states that Ilnaz must keep her personal and professional interest aside and
should keep the public interest above all these. Ilnaz is required to accept the fact that she
may be asked to work with any of the employee within the organization (Warren and
Burmeister, 2017).
Clause 1.2.2 states that Ilnaz is required to enhance the quality of life of the community as
well as the stakeholders of the project. She should make a decision due to which the quality
of life can be maintained of the people associated with the project.
Clause 1.2.6 states that Ilnaz is required to maintain professionalism at her workplace and
should be committed to her work. She is required to accept all the work she is competent to
do regardless of any other factor.
Analyse the actions
There must be analysed the actions regardless of their consequences in this case. Ilnaz has
options either to leave the job as in the near future also she can be asked to work with a
male person (Leicester, 2016). On the other hand, she can maintain professionalism at the
workplace by keeping her personal interest aside. Following the professional code of
conducts are required to be followed by her:
1.2.1 (a) She must take into the consideration a fact that her professional traverses many
other professions and she should take her work on priority so that the interest of others
cannot be impacted (Wise, et. al., 2012).
1.2.1 (f) She should also respect the intellectual property of others at the workplace.
1.2.2 (d) Ilnaz must attempt to enhance the feeling ofthe personal satisfaction at work and
