Introduction
This report has undertaken to explore and describe the knowledge and the skills are required
to develop a proper work and safety measures after observation of the various acts in the
organisation context. This report also helps in under the system driven approach with relevant
legislative factors and components.

Assessment Method Three – Task 1
1. An overview of WH&S principles and practices applicable to the AAA Auto
Repairers workshop and stores areas.
Work health and safety act is developed for the improvement of the working conditions of the
employees. As a manager different principles are required to be planning to establish a good
WHS system. The different principles are related to the providing proper training to the
employees, maintain a good communication way, reporting must be required to be given by
every employee and many more (Matters, 2018). For the better working of the AAA Auto
repairers manager needs to identify the hazard which exists in the organization, for this
proper record keeping is also required and a consultant must be hired to resolve all these kind
of problems.

2. Explain the understanding you have regarding compliance with relevant state
legislation. List some (at least 2) of the legislation (Acts) that covers an automotive
workshop, or any other workplace you are familiar with.
Employment Relations Act (2000) and the Waste Management Act (2008), these are the two
legislations which are related to the automotive workplace. Both these laws help to provide
the understanding the rights and responsibilities of the employees (Shen, 2017). These
legislations are helpful for removing any kind of issues occurs in the workplace.

3. Explain how you would conduct a risk assessment in the workshop area of AAA Auto
Repairers. Include any samples of the forms you would use to assist you with your
assessment. Provide details as to where and how you could research common risks to
guide your investigation.
AAA Auto Repairer is the organization where lots of risks exist. Some issues are the risk of
health in the automotive area. Also provides the different suggestions and different
recommendations (Neal, 2017). To maintain the proper WHS system different documents are
needed to be collected and those documents are current health and safety policies and
procedures, health and safety surveys, checklists and audits of the organization.

4. a) Explain how you would evaluate the findings from your risk assessment.
Risk assessment is the important part of any organization. For evaluating the risk
assessment a risk matrix is prepared and evaluation is done according to their specified area
of risk. The result of the analysis is done on the basis of almost certain, likely, possible and
unlikely and rare.
b) List the WHS/Risk reporting documents you will retain and the information they
provide
The following are the documents which are required to be maintained to retain the
information.
 List of identified hazards
 Current health and safety policies and procedures
 Complaint forms
 Incident, injury, and near-miss reports
 Workers compensation form
 Health and safety survey and checklist.
c) How will these documents/records be stored and be made available when required.
For maintaining the documents proper folders are made to maintain the records of the
different employees and the managers of the organization (Matters, 2018). Proper records are
made and a specified register is made to check all the details and the documents to maintain
all the records.

5. Explain the consultation and communication processes regarding risk management
that you would initiate with technicians in the workshop. How will you communicate
the outcomes of this process to stakeholders?

The above model helps to understand the consultation and communication process which
helps in the risk management. Communication and consultation is the initial stage of the risk
assessment. In the risk process, different stages are followed to identify the risk and the
different issues related to the workplace (Mital, 2017). Communication and consultation are
important as this provides the judgment related to the risk and also helps in providing better
decision making.

6. Explain any intervention strategies you would implement and how you would go
about looking for a specialist if it was necessary. Detail the resources and approvals you
may need to implement these strategies.
To remove the risk assessment in the organization some strategies are made which are
required to be implemented in the workplace (Shaw, 2017). The strategy related to the
workplace stress, which helps the management to remove the different risk and the issues.
To remove the stress of the employees one interaction plan is made, which increase the
communication between the different levels of the organization and this provides the good
understanding and the coordination among all the employees. Resources for the
implementation of the strategies are employees view, feedback form, and consultation with
the manager.

Induction policy is made for the new employees of the organization. The purpose of the

 The second measure of the success is to check the various assessment tools of the
organization (Shaw, 2017).
 The third and the last measure to understand and find the different views of the
stakeholders.
c) What processes will ensure the on-going effectiveness of this approach to managing
risk within the workshop business unit?

To manage the risk within the workshop of the business unit different process are need to be
made (Fransson, 2018). Different steps are needed to be followed to ensure the effectiveness
of the approach that is – make the preparation of the risk evaluation, elicit and verify the risk
management, analyze gaps and evaluate the different gap of the workplace and made the
report make the appropriate changes.

1. What is the purpose of having a legislative framework for Work Health and Safety
(WHS) in Australia?
The purpose of WHS (Work, Health and Safety) in Australia is to observe that every
individual who has employed in Australia has prevailing his rights by his employer. It is the
right of the employee to understand properly his duties of his job as per the description of his
job description for which they have been hired. It is on right of the employee to not perform
the duties that are not mentioned in his job description as per the Australian WHS act. It is
the responsibility of the employer to assess the skill set of the employee. It is also the
responsibility of the employer to provide the right form of equipment to the employees along
with the safety of the job. The employer should also ensure that there should be proper
system for addressing the unfair treatment and unsafe hazards in case they are following up in
the workplace. The principle framework structure for the WHS legislative frame work in
Australia as per below:
 Employer should comply with the laws that form the WHS Act in Australia.
 Develop a healthy and a safe workplace for their employees.
 If the Company is not following up the WHS Act and avoiding costly fines and
prosecutions by the employer.
