According to a survey by PwC, 88 per cent of millennials have a desire to work for a
company which has culture and values resembling their own. In continuation, 86% of
millennials are of the opinion that they prefer leaving a company whose corporate
responsibilities are unable to meet their desires. This research reflects upon young millennials
who are seeking a sense of personal accomplishment in career. Such individuals are
redeveloping the workplace so that employers take measures to tackle issues like gender
diversity, sustainability and equality. Also, it has been noticed that personnel working in an
organisation with well defined goals perform upto three times more productively than the
average workforce. When employees know that they are an important part of an organisation
and their contribution significantly impacts performance of organisation, they perform with
zeal. Millennials are more focussed upon working in an environment where they have growth
opportunities. Thus, it is imperative for entities to gain an understanding of their thinking and
focus upon encouraging a goal-oriented attitude within the organisation in addition to being
socially ethical in industry. Creation of feeling of cohesion among team members and a sense
of being towards organisation can drive the empowered millennial workforce towards
working in a desirable manner at workplace. To motivate employees, it is necessary that
organisation ensures understanding of vision of company to workforce and aligns their
behaviour towards accomplishment of goals. Owners and shareholders expect returns. But a
person would be deemed to be a powerful motivator if employees go to office recognising
that their time and effort is utilised for a socially good cause.
