AI Summary
This report presents a research project on workplace discrimination and its impact on employee performance, focusing on Tesco. The methodology employs an interpretivism philosophy and inductive approach, utilizing both primary (questionnaires) and secondary data collection methods. The research explores the awareness of workplace discrimination, its impact on employee performance, and its specific effects within Tesco. Findings reveal that a majority of respondents are aware of workplace discrimination and believe it negatively impacts employee performance, productivity, and Tesco's reputation. The report identifies key factors contributing to discrimination, such as age and negative working environments, and suggests ways to prevent it, including developing written policies and providing training. The study also highlights the benefits of eliminating discrimination, such as mitigating liability and enhancing employee engagement. The data analysis involves theme development and the use of graphs, with a reflection section discussing the researcher's personal experience and alternative methodologies. The report concludes with recommendations for Tesco to improve its workplace environment and enhance its growth rate by addressing discrimination issues.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report stated about the workplace discrimination concept. The workplace
discrimination happens when an employee is treated in unfavourable manner due to skin colour
disability gender, religion and many other basis. For conducting this investigation, various tools
and techniques has been applied through an investigator. In this, literature review is considered
as main part of research that has been done by determining the opinions and view points of
different authors on the workplace discrimination and its impact on the employees performance
in negative manner. Researcher methodology has been conducted for collecting the accurate and
reliable informations. For completing this investigation, different components has been
considered such as qualitative method, interpretivism philosophy, inductive approach, primary
and secondary data collection methods and many others. All are helpful in conducting an
investigation in systematic manner and getting positive outcomes effectively. In this, data has
been analysed by developing themes and graphs. In the last section of research, reflection and
alternative research methodology has been done. In this, researcher analyse its personal
experience during conducting research.

Topic: Impact of Workplace Discrimination on Employee Performance.
METHODOLOGY
Methodology is related to conceptual frameworks that provide data about various techniques
that could be used to conduct research on the grounds of acceptable ethics. This section speaks
to learner about different strategies and is used for fair reason by them (Cleveland, Vescio and
Barnes-Farrell, 2013). The major reason for
conducting this research methodology is to test the accuracy of the strategies used in carrying out
this inquiry. It justify different tools which are used to gather relevant information in particular
research field. Methodology is a systematic way and there is theoretical analysis which are
applied to a particular field. There are different types of theoretical analysis which can be used
by the researcher so that research is successfully initiated and completed . This method is alos
very helpful in obtaining the desired outcomes. Methodology is a section which is very helpful
for the researcher and also reader so that they can critically evaluate the reliability and overall
validity of the collected and analysed form of data.
Type of Investigation
Research Philosophy: It provides various information related to the manner or way in which data
should be collected and its evaluation should be done. This evaluation is necessary for
achievement of overall set objectives of research. There are basically two types, positivism
and inetrpretivism in this interpretivism focuses towards interpreting the whole data based
on qualitative measures. Positivism philosophy focuses towards applying various scientific
methods which consists of whole quantitative forma of data. To perform this investigation
interpretivism is going to be used so that researcher could collect qualitative information
and research can be successfully initiated and completed.
Research Approach: This approach has two approaches which are deductive and inductive. In
the deductive approach existing theory is used for comparison of hypothesis for the purpose of
conducting investigation. On the other side is the inductive approach in which new theories are
proposed and developed. Such new theories are used to support various observations and useful
test. In this research work researcher will be using the inductive approach this Approach is most
suitable in this research work. the reason is that there is qualitative form of data being used and

inductive approach consider this form of data only, which will make it simple for the researcher
to draw useful conclusions.
Data Collection: There re basically two methods which are used for collection of data that is
primary method and secondary method. Both the methods are discussed below:
Primary method:This is the method of collecting data which is used by the researcher
where there is collection of fresh data and and not from any existing source. Here data is
collected using various sources such as focus groups, direct interviews, questionnaire, surveys
and many other methods which can be used by them to collect relevant data related to their
research work. This is most reliable method of collecting data as data collected through this
source is very authentic as it has not been extracted from anywhere by the investigator is
collected by the researcher himself. There are various other methods also which can be used by
researcher one such method is also Delphi technique and other projective techniques.
Secondary Method: secondary method is used by the researcher in which already existing
information is used by researcher. There are various methods which can be used by them to
collect information from various published sources. Such areas from where secondary data can
be collected are articles, books, newspaper articles, journals, governmental publications and
many others. In this investigation primary information is gathered from such sources.
In this investigation researcher will be using both methods for conducting of research
that is quantitative and qualitative. Primary form of collecting data is questionnaire and
secondary method will be used in form of questionnaire for the purpose of collecting data.

Sample Size: It can be defined as a process in which a particular set of respondents are selected
so that they are able to represent the whole set of population. There are basically two
methods which can be used by researcher is never possible to use the whole population for
conducting the research so for making it feasible researcher always selects a particular
sample drawn from the population. This also helps researcher in saving of time and this is
also a very cost effective method which is used for conducting the research by the
researcher. There are two methods of sampling such as probabilistic sampling and non
probabilistic sampling. In probabilistic sampling, researcher is free in selecting the
respondents according to his view, which means there is no specific criteria which is
applied while selecting the respondents. On the other hand non probabilistic sampling is
one in which data is collected by the researcher in a way that there are some special criteria
being followed to select a sample.
In this research work researcher has used probabilistic sampling method of collecting of
data from the sample size there is no specific criteria which have been applied by the researcher
in selecting the sample size. There is a sample size of 40 respondent Which are used by the
researcher in this research work.

Type of Investigation: There are two types of investigation which are quantitative type and
qualitative data.
Qualitative data is used where information is gathered in more detailed manner. There is no
involvement of numerical or quantitative data in this types of research. This type of
research is very important as it helps the investigator in having a in depth understanding of
the whole scenario in which research will be conducted, analysed, interpreted and final
conclusions are to be drawn. It is very helpful in getting various insights of the research
problem and then generation of various hypothesis to solve that problem.
Quantitative form of data is in which data is collected Numerical form of data is used for
conducting the research. This form of collecting the data is used by the researcher when
there is need of accuracy in the collection and analysis work. Also, there are certain
objectives which are laid by researcher in which only quantitative form of data can be used
in such cases researcher uses methods which can help them in collection of that data. Main
objective of this form of data is to have accuracy in collection of data and also in
interpretation of the collected information.
In this research work qualitative method is used by the researcher in conducting the research an
drawing up of various conclusions and interpretations.
