INTRODUCTION
It is important for any firm to develop health and safety standards for people working in
organisation which can help them to deal with any emergency at that time. Standards should be
revised annually and corrections should be done if required (Black and et. al., 2011). These
activity represent good identity that company is responsible and sensitive towards health and
safety of their employees. These regulation help in maintaining safe and secure environment of
firm. The present report is based on development of health and safety wherein several legislative
frameworks are described in doing the same.
TASK 1
1.1 Legislative framework for health, safety and risk management in work setting
The Health and Safety Act 1947 was introduced in Great Britain to encourage high safety
standard in workplace. It provides legal framework within organisation. By placing duties to
employers, they can check whether standards are being met or not. Details of the act is provided
to every person working in that area (Sandberg and et. al., 2014). Employer and higher
authorities are responsible to safeguard health, safety and welfare of employees by ensuring them
that equipment, plant and machinery in which they are operating are safe and should provide
them with safety regulation procedures.
1.2 Analysis of policies, procedures and practices to meet health, safety and risk management
requirements
These policies and procedures are necessary to be established in the organisation to
manage health and safety of people. Formulating these standards states company intention to
provides safe and secure environment for their workers. These policies and procedures are
formulated so that it can be followed at the time of emergency (Rajaratnam and et. al., 2011).
They help in controlling and minimising adverse affects of hazards. Risks are events which are
uncertain, so implementing effective policies of risk management can help to minimises the
amount of risks occurring in an organisation. Risk should be encountered first so that it cannot
harm people so, following those procedures can help to encounter losses.

2.3 Explain the actions to take when health, safety and risk management procedures and
practices are not being complied with
It is responsibility of employer that every worker should follow policies and procedures
as described. If workers are not following procedures than strict actions should be taken because
these are very sensitive area which can cause damage to a person or to organisation. So to control
that, proper identification should be done and see where these regulations are not followed and
by whom. Proper monitoring and controlling will help to improve the situation (Fabius and et.
al., 2013). If regulation are not updated then proper updation should be done. If risk is not
managed properly then it will pose threat to firm and may cause failure to production of
company. So in that case head of department or employers should make effective plans to
encounter loss and manage risk properly.

4.3 Evaluation of own practice in promoting a balanced approach to risk management
Risk is a chance of something happening or not happening that will have a positive or
negative impact upon achievement of goals. For minimising risk, proper procedure should be
followed. Risk can occur at any time at any place, it is uncertain, so being properly prepared will
incur less damages. Revising and evaluating risk management at certain time also help
organisation to encounter less problems (Nel, Zhao and Mädler, 2013 ). Procedures which are
important should be addressed to all workers operating in firm.

5.2 Evaluation of health, safety and risk management policies, procedures and practices within
work
Regular check of policies and procedures at certain time helps organisation to remain
updated. This require continuous monitoring on health and safety regulation. These two factors
are most crucial factors which should be taken seriously by everybody because it can harm any
person or may cause damages to organisation. Employers should ensure that risk management is
followed appropriately which help the organisation to prevent any losses and should also ensure
that everybody is well known about safety regulations and about hazardous and risky things also.

There should be proper instruction in work setting to escape at the time of any emergency. Head
of firm should also see whether their standards are up to the mark or not if not, corrective action
should be taken. Appropriate action should be performed at time of emergency to manage any
damage.
5.2 Identification of areas where policies and procedures can be implemented to ensure safety
If there is any hazardous area where safety regulations are must, then standards should be
applied in those areas first and people working in hazardous areas should be well addressed
about the risks and hazard which might take place in that area (Moffitt and et. al., 2011).
Organisation should review that they keep on updating themselves with new legislation and
policies which is introduced by government. Employers should be well instructed and trained to
handle risky areas of organisation so that he can effectively handle risky situations and workers
operating under them. First aid services should be implemented in every areas and instruction of
evacuating place should be clearly mentioned at the time of emergency.
5.4 Recommending changes to policies, procedures and practices that ensure safety and
protection in the work
While formulating safety standards and regulations, it should be kept in mind that it is up
to date. Every organisation should follow these policies and procedures seriously as it can cause
serious implications to workers as well as organisation also. Workers should also follow all
regulation told by senior authorities (Gravel, Rhéaume and Legendre, 2011). If they want to
recommend any changes or any alterations in safety standard, then they are free to inform their
seniors about that. Changes help to improve policies and procedure and make it more effective.
Any new change can also be added in procedure and informed to all about that change.
CONCLUSION
Maintaining health and safety standards are essential for any organisation. They should
be strict in carrying out these procedures. Head of organisation should ensure that their safety
regulation are up to date and revise them on continuous basis. These standards should be
addressed properly to every worker of organisation. Supervisor should also monitor that these
regulations are met by everybody and followed properly. Recommendation should be welcomed
if any worker want any kind of change. Proper managing risk should be done to prevent
organisation form any losses. For that risk management should be established.
