Introduction
In this assignment, an analysis will be done over the methods and techniques of hazard
identifications and risk assessment. The various strategies of controlling the risk factors will
also be analysed. It helps the employers and employee in identifying the possible risk factors
at the workplace. The different strategies of risk controlling will be described briefly. The
focus will be provided on identifying all the possible situations of the workplaces where are
the chances to get injuries, illness and diseases and different risk controlling techniques will
also be described. Benefits of risk assessment and controlling techniques will also be
discussed.
Analysis of techniques which can identify the hazards
Every person whether it is an employee or a manger have a rights to be safe from injuries and
accidental cases at their workplaces that is why every Company or industry should develop
proper techniques and systems to identify the hazards at the workplace for the safety and
security of their employees at workplace. The infrastructure of the plant of the Company
should be safe and secure while working so that any accidental cases can-not be take place.
Timely auditing and inspections are required to check the places where the accidental cases
may take place and immediately the steps should be taken to avoid any unpleasant case1.
Hazards related to manual handling of the products should be reduced by analysing the
situation properly. The employees should be equipped with safety instruments so that any
problematic situation can-not be happened. CCTV Camera should be implemented in almost
each and every part of the plant and Company so that any fault in the machines or in the
process can be easily identified. Functions of machines should be checked properly so that
risk of getting injured by the machines can be minimised2.
There should also be an effective information system for employees so that they can report to
the management any time if they find any hazard inside the Company1.
Identification of risk associated with hazard
If any hazard found inside the organisation, there should be proper method to identify or
assess the risk associated with it. If there are the chances of being exposed to accidental

cases, then the steps should be taken to avoid these incidences. The risk not only involves
physical injuries but also it involves risk of being mentally healthy. Bullying and mental
torture should strictly prohibit at the workplaces1.
This technique ensure about risk of handling many substances including chemicals with
safety and security. The companies and workplaces should provide proper facilities like
washrooms, first aid facilities, medical facilities and other necessary facilities related to the
basic requirements of the clients3.
At this stage how much harm the accidental cases can done for the employees would be
identified. Risk measurements are assessed at this phase so that the problems of the
employees can be reduced and the safety measures can be taken at time because making the
employees safe and secure is the major priority for any Company. The process of risk
controlling can be continued by using various practices suggested by the employees and
employer both4.
Methods and techniques to eliminate the risk from workplaces and recommendations
Many techniques are suggested by WHS in order to make a safe and secure environment of
work. Some of the strategies are as follows:
Every company should provide and maintain suitable infrastructure and plant for
ensure the safety standards for their workforce5.
Physical and mental health of the employees is protected by the management of the
Company by taking regular feedback from the workforce6.
Regular auditing and monitoring of the workplace safety should be taken for
protecting the employees of the Company7.
Sometimes working hazards take place because of the improper designs of the plant
and machineries. Alterations and modifications should have been done in order to
remove the discrepancies in the designing and implementing part of the plant’s
infrastructure and machinery1.
Proper record should be kept safely to analyse the working conditions of the
employees so that the improvement can be done and measures can be taken to prevent
any accidental cases8.

Despite of many safety techniques, if any unpleasant event takes place, then basic
medical facilities should be provided by the Company in order to provide medical
facilities to the employees1.
Every employee of the Company should receive medical insurance by the Company
so that the future of the employee and his family can become safe2.
Protective equipments like boots, gloves, uniform, glasses and other instruments
should be provided by the management to protect the employees from having any
accidental case.
Employees should have sufficient rights to tell about their opinion to the management
for their requirements at workplaces3.
Drinking water and food facilities should also be at workplace because taking
balanced and sufficient diet is essential for the health of the employee6.
Conclusion
Providing safety at workplace is an integral part of the organisations. On the bases of the
above analysis, it can be concluded that hazard identifications and risk assessment are very
essential for developing a safer environment for the wellbeing of the employees. By
providing basic facilities to the workforce the management ensure about the safety of their
workforce. By identifying the risk of hazards, any organisation can control the risk of having
any accidental cases. However, it can also be said that the organisation need to prepare itself
for dealing with any unpleasant case by having proper medical and clinical facilities.
