Well-being is the experience of health, happiness and prosperity that helps to manage
stress within a workplace. Thus, it is also known as wellness or quality of life. It can be referred
to both positive and negative well-being. Garg (2017) supported their views by stating that well-
being is a central subject of positive psychology whose purpose is to observe factors which
contribute to human well-being. For example, share positive emotions and have a good
relationship with people at workplace etc. Similarly, at workplaces, employees also gain
multiple benefits from well-being which in turn improve their productivity. The present essay
also highlights the key benefits of well-being to professionals.
Secondary research stated that 1/6th of the working age population of Great Britain
experience symptoms linked with mental ill health which includes sleep problems, irritability
and worry (Goble and Bye-Brookes, 2016). Thus, it is analysed that people with more health
problems are likely to suffer from physical health problems and if this is directly affected
professionals well-being. Traditionally, statutorily driven approaches to risk management are
effectively used to reduce number of injuries and sickness, whereas in modern life, physical
health issues are considered one of the top challenge that affect the professionals' life. Thus, it
can be stated that with the help of improving well-being means rising own quality of life, in this
employees looking to those practices that helps them to stay motivated and engaged that results
in greater organizational success.

work and put their all efforts in order to attain the aim. Also, due to stressful environment,
absence of workers increases that cause opposite impact upon the company as well as employees
performance. Beside this, there are many factors which influence the workplace well-being of

being (Hodgins, Fleming and Griffiths, 2016). It is deal with the atmosphere and environment
that creates positivity among employees so that they work happily. These elements also includes
lighting, arrangement, quality of air and water, cafeteria etc. Also, employers should ensure
about such arrangements appropriately so that no health and well-being concern affects the
productivity of employees.
Improper working hours with frequent breaks also affect the performance of employees,
that is why companies offer appropriate relaxation time to their employees during working hours
and enjoy their work as well. Otherwise, performance task with stress might affect their
performance and also derive the wrong output as well. Conflict is another major factor that
might affect well-being of an employee such that worker or professional have their own
responsibility at workplace as well as their private life (Lelliott and et.al., 2008). Thus, if this is
not managed then it creates additional stress, workload and this also leads to conflict as well.
That is why, there is a need to manage the work-life so that they live happily and perform task
which do not cause opposite impact upon overall life.
It is clear from the above that there are many factors that contribute to mismanage the
well-being in an individual life. This might lead towards adverse health problems and also due to
unfavourable working environment, company losses its top talent which directly causes negative
impact upon the customer loyalty and lower down the profitability as well. That is why, there is
a need to focus upon well-being as it is provides many benefits to their professionals such as:
Increased productivity: One of the biggest advantage of having well-being at workplace
is to raise productivity. Poor productivity refers to physically being at work (known as
presenteeism), but they are not working. This is because, professionals are not happy with the
working environment and that is why, physically they are present at place but actually they are
not working. Apart from this, unhealthy lifestyles are also correlated to unproductive workplaces
habits (Garg, 2017). For example, smokers were more likely to have high presenteeism than
non-smokers whereas employees with an unhealthy diet are more than those who ate healthier

food. Thus, it is reflected that if professionals are happy, they provide positive results, however a
physical risk factor only increase the likeliness of presenteeism.

top talent and many employers think it can be done with higher salary and latest technology.
However, study of Deloitte shows that good work-life balance must be considered first factor
when evaluating job opportunities and better career progression. Thus, well-being and work-life
balance are recognized as a key to employee retention. Such that if any professions feel
neglected then they will definitely look elsewhere. That is why, in the competitive job markets,
where retention is a huge challenge for employers, but by sourcing new hires employers should
be going above and beyond well-being. It is also analysed that through effective well-being,
workplace is able to improve their recruitments and retain employees as well. It is not about only
offer extra benefits to satisfy the need of employees, but they also require positive working
environment, flexible working which in turn assist to improve the productivity and draw
attention of many candidates towards it.
Reduced absenteeism: Workplace well-being also helps to reduce the number of
absenteeism within workplace. Therefore, there is a strong connection between well-being and
absenteeism which includes if an employee have good health behaviour then it lower down
absenteeism (Hughes and Spanner, 2019). Thus, many organization offer different well-being
programs that assist to improve the employee health and this also cause positive impact upon the
organizations as well. Apart from this, it also leads to increase employee morale and this
significantly lower down the absenteeism rate within a business. Most of the previous studies
also supported the same by stating that due to good health and well-being programs, chances of
productivity will be higher and this in turn leads to reduce absenteeism number as well.
Therefore, it can be stated due to low well-being, employees do not make efforts and this in turn
increases higher absenteeism that also affect the productivity and profitability of a company as
well.
Higher job satisfaction and Stronger engagement: It is also analysed that with the help
of well-being, employees as well as professionals will be satisfied with their job and also leads
to employee retention. For that companies perform different activities in order to reduce their
stress and make them happy that leads to stronger engagement as well. Also, providing rich
benefits to their employees also have a powerful influence on retention but a good well-being

develop good communication between professionals and senior management so that it does not
cause any negative impact upon their attitude and behaviour. It also assists to raise morale and
positive return on investment. Further, to increase job satisfaction, there is a need to focused
upon workplace culture so that it will leads to engaged them for a longer time period as well.
That is why, it can be stated that through well-being, companies focused upon their employees
and sustain high employee morale as well.
It is clear form the above that there are many benefits of well-being at workplace, but
due to this pandemic situation, there are many companies who do not have any focus upon their
employees and that is why, it leads to affect their performance and productivity as well. Among
all, connect with other people and share views to them is considered one of the most effective
way that helps to improve the well-being among individuals. As good relationship are more
important for mental well-being and this also support the people to share positive experience that
assists to provide emotional support (Hughes and Spanner, 2019). Moreover, organizations
should also develop activities that encourage employees to learn new skills and this in turn
improve their well-being as well. Hence, it is identified that with the help of such practices,
organization took at further level of success.
Overall it can be stated that well-being has a direct relationship with the productivity and
health. Also, organizations should also ensure that they implement many programs that do not
cause any negative impact upon employee's performance and this in turn assists to increase
employee morale as well. For that, company may develop strategies of well-being that assists
employees to attain all of their needs whether it is physical, social or emotional. Apart from this,
companies must appreciate their employees for their good work so that they will be motivated
and make extra efforts to attain the specific aim and objectives. Hence, well-being direct deals
with company's productivity and if it goes up customer service will be outstanding and thus
problems will be solved that assist to provide positive results to company and employees will be
more happy too.
