The project which I worked on with my friends was regarding the fundraising based on
the workshop that was organized for newcomers for driver learner licenses. This is an important
workshop, and we chose it as the workshop was done to make the people aware of the condition
of the situations that they face in their garage and reflect the factors that are essential that could
help the people maintaining their garage and also maintain sustenance. The importance of garage
sells has grown as there are a lot of unused matters and spare parts that gets dumped into the
garage and reusing and recycling them is always a good factor that would help the manufacturers
help developing their marketing strategy and developing successfully.
We were very excited and also there were the factors of earning as well providing
solutions to the people. Therefore we maintained refreshments as it will definitely set the mood
encouraging the people to stay all throughout the session and concentrate on the event. Our
motto was to keep the people interested as well attracted in the event as much as possible. Thus
the factor of interest, cooperation and understanding was essential to be noticed and the
important factors to be analyzed. We did as much as promoting as we could from our end,
putting up posters, organizing debates, issuing pamphlets, regarding the event so that the people
find it relevant, needful and helpful. Thus, we expected of having a great response we did
marketing from our end. We created the event page on the social media sites of which Facebook,
Twitter etc. so that it could reach a large of number of people. We got frequent queries and many
people showed interest in the event while others made themselves clear of attending the session
by setting the “going” option in the choosing the option area. We knew that there will a quite an
amount of people in session therefore we arranged for refreshments and also arranged for a prize
giving ticket so that the people attracted and come and attend our session. The ancillary

arrangements were done as fund raisers as that would provide the financial back up of the
arrangement of the event that has been organized.
The day of the garage sale was very much exciting for us as we were expecting a lot from
the event and we were looking forward for attending a large crowd of people. We were
disappointed by expecting from that factor, as quite a number of people reverted back as they
promised and attended the workshop. Many people found the workshop very relevant and also
highlighted the fact that the topic of garage sale came in to the mind but they could not figure out
the ways that they should take and apply for arranging or making the sale. The event organized,
provided them proper guidelines for arranging the sales and also participating in the sales. This
event the encouraged the people to take part into such interactive sessions and made the people
aware of the situation as well.
We found many people waiting eagerly for the session to start outside the premises. They
started to show up nearly and hour ago. We understood the situation and opened the workshop as
soon as possible and allowed them to settle down and get ready for the session. We hurried
ourselves in setting up of tables and chairs and shortly started attending the crowd and dealing
with their situations. The people were told to help themselves with the barbeque that was
smelling quite ecstatic and also they were made to feel at home and told to maintain peace. We
made a handsome profit out of the refreshments that were arranged as the people quite liked the
idea of barbeque and helped themselves in attending the stores. This boosted our session and
they people were already impressed by the arrangements that were being made. They were ready
for learning and talking about and dealing with their issues and looked for the new factors that
they could learn easily and understand the importance of the situation. The session went good as
we tried to understand and interact with the crowd as much as possible covering all points and

specially highlighting special points that should be looked into for the assistance of the people.
the interactive session that were held was very helpful for the people as they could easily relate
to the problems that were faced by them and they could easily identify the similar problems by
listening to and understanding them from others. The youth community specially took interest in
the event. Clarification was done due based on the understanding of the people. All the
interactions and sessions did not went smooth or straight forward, but we managed to keep a
generalized outlook and gave focus on their matters and tried our level nest to come up with a
solution and worked together as a team.
Some managing challenge that we faced was the organization of the management of the
event. The flyers that we distributed was two three days before the event and hence we had a bit
problem in marketing the sake earlier manually. The failure of not able to add price tag to all the
products delayed the buying and selling process as we were not able to understand how the
product cost. But that was compensated by the online social marketing that was done from the
page previously. Some faults that came out was that all the garage items was not labelled or
tagged properly as we had to manage loads of products that could be put in the sale and assuming
the reach of the online marketing we had to put in some efforts and include as much products as
we can so that the people could equally be interested and also not get disappointed in the event
and not carry any disregard or develop any negative approach to the event. We didn’t wanted to
the people attending the event have any bad impression about us and infer our as amateurs.
We dealt with several families and individuals of which the case of Mr. Han, made me
interested, he belonged from a very poor family and yet he was encouraged in the garage sale
because it was his passion to do so it was his area of interest. This motivated us and boosted our
confidence a lot.

There was not equal flow of the customers all during the day but more or less it was the
same. But it was our satisfactory venture and we will be looking forward for organizing several
such events in future and will be following the same procedures. We definitely developed certain
learning outcomes form the event, we learnt, how to deal with customers and sell them products
according to their needs, we also learnt how to do the marketing highlighting the key factors of
the events and helped in analyzing them as well. The factor of highlighting the features of a
product and then selling them to the customers was also a part of our learning outcome. We also
learnt how to manage an event and also to fairly deal with customers, delivering them
satisfaction.
Thus in spite of all the odds we managed to pull off the event as we visualized it to be.
Yes, there were some changes and some situations that didn’t happen as we planned it to be, but
our approach has been met and we are quite happy and satisfied with the outcome of the event.
