Introduction
This report reflects that why people work and what makes them motivated towards
working at workplace and different factors that motivate the employees in an
organisation. Motivation is an important tool that stimulates an individual for work with
more determination and dedication in a workplace (Gerhart and Fang, 2015). thus,
delivering motivation in the workplace works like an effective tool that brings productivity
and positive working environment in the organisation. This report covers what is
motivation and what are different factors that motivates the employees, the positive and
negative factors of work and strategies to cope up with the negative factors at work.

What does Motivation Mean?
Motivation in simple language is defined by encouraging an individual to do certain
actions. Workplace motivation is very important to brings the performance of the
employees as per the determined standards, these includes two types of motivation
such intrinsic and extrinsic motivation (Hennessey and et.al., 2015). Delivering
motivation to the employees works like coordinating the efforts of the employees in the
right direction to achieve group goals. there are different motivational theories, one of
which includes Maslow’s Hierarchy theory which involves that an individual is driven by
different set of needs which are in hierarchical structure and he/she moves to the
another needs to the upward direction in the hierarchical as soon he/she fulfils the
needs below in the hierarchical structure. On the same manner, different employees in
the workplace have different set of needs, which an employer must identify and deliver
the desired motivational tool for each employee which satisfies their needs. Maslow’s
Hierarchy theory states that in the hierarchical structure there are different set of needs
where in intrinsic needs of an individual involves the basic needs that includes the
physiological needs like food, water, accommodation and other an individual wishes to
accomplish for the survival. On the other hand, extrinsic needs involve recognition,
rewards and others that stimulates an individual by external factors. Human relation
management theory states that an employee is driven by external factors that involves
rewards, recognition and others in order to motivate an individual in order to deliver
effective motivational tool and development highly efficient working employees at the
workplace.

environment reduces the workplace conflicts and clashes of opinion and helps the
employees to behave in accordance to the ethical code of conduct (Koster, 2017).
