INTRODUCTION
Functional areas are the units of the organisation formed by the head of the firm to
structure the organisation in terms of the skills and experience of the employees. It is very for the
organisation to separate the employees as per their functions in the organisational to run the
company smoothly and also to set the goals and objectives of the firm. There are the various
functional areas in the organisation such as production, sales, finance, operations, human
resource etc. that functions individually and then integrate themselves to accomplish the main
objective of the company (Wang and Wang, 2020). The report contains the various functional
areas of the IMO electronic Ltd. a UK based global provider of the electronic systems and
appliances. The company is a well-known regional organisation with 200 employees based over
two sites in Manchester and Liverpool. The report outlines the various functional areas in
business organisation and the the types of skills needed by employees to be able to work
effectively in these functional areas.

TASK 1
Discuss the various functional areas in business organisations
Business organisation conduct various activities to offer the product and service to the
consumer to earn the potential profit for the organisation. Firms with a large range of operations
and production divides the human activities of an organisation into various teams on basis of
similar characteristics and skills which are required to accomplish particular job (Wolniak,
2020). The four main functional areas of the organisation are human resource, production,
finance and marketing and activities of these four combine together to achieve the desired goals
of the firm. The various functional areas of the IOM electronic Ltd are discussed below:
Finance Department
The finance department of the IOM Electronic Ltd. plays a role to manage and perform
the various financial activities to raise and deploy the funds (Stawasz, 2020). This is the most
essential department of the organisation as it handles the overall capital that firm acquires and
earns. As the regular flow of money or capital is very important for the organisation as without
funds organisation will run into debts and cannot survive for long term. Therefore, the finance
department of the organisation ensure the proper management of the funds so that the owner of

Marketing departments
The marketing department is the linkage between the outside world and the organisation
because the department analyse the needs and wants the customers and develop products,
services and strategies to fulfil them (Busłowska, 2020). The marketing department works on
four things product, price, promotion and place. Marketing department of IOM electronics Ltd.
develop the plan to design the products according to the analysed needs of customers, determine
the price of product with appropriate pricing strategy to maintain affordability and
competitiveness in the market, identify and decide appropriate distribution channel and mode of
promotion so that the message is effectively conveyed to consumer at right time and right place
to increase the sales of IOM electronics. Carrying out the market research to get the feedbacks
from the potential customers regarding the service provided by the organisation is also the
function of marketing department.
Human resource department
The human resource is considered as the lifeblood of the every organisation therefore its
is very important to manage and retain them to successfully run the organisation without any
conflicts (Qian and et. al., 2020). The human resource department of the IOM electronics Ltd.
has a role to satisfy there employees and other man force to motivate and encourage them
towards the organisation. As the success growth of the IOM totally depends on there employees
and their work therefore it is necessary to regularly examine their performance and train and
develop their skills this function is carried out by the HR department of IOM electronics. The
various functions of the Human resource department of the organisation are: advertising the
vacancy, hiring and recruiting employees, planning training and development sessions, payroll
management, performance appraisal, leaves and attendance etc. hence for each and every
organisation there is always a requirement of a HR manager to maintain the well being of their
employees with all the legal and health rights.

A product or service cannot be developed without the production department as this
department is responsible for transforming the raw materials into the finished products that can
