INTRODUCTION
Over the years, the industry of travel and tourism is been growing substantially and
contributing towards developing and developed industries (Mbaiwa and Stronza, 2010).
There are numerous factors that attracts the visitors to a particular tourist destination and
thus, it is equally vital to analyse such factors and nations that are main tourist destinations
and income generators of the world. Tourism industry is a complex industry which includes
different businesses dealing in offering common products and services to tourists. In Britain,
tourism industry is a private sector industry involving around 200000 businesses. Domestic
business is the core of business revenue. The recent statistics shows that there has been
increase in the spending of people towards tourism. Pertaining to this, the present research
report focuses on analysing the main tourist destinations and generators of the world
including the facts that impact the current and future trends of the travel and tourism industry.
The company being chosen for the current study is Titan Travel, which is engaged in tourism
related activities in UK. Furthermore, cultural, social and physical features of the developed
and developing tourist destinations will be discussed. In addition to this, the current writing
will compare leading and developing tourist destinations of the globe and help in gaining
knowledge of the key aspects that can be used for the development of tourism destinations
TASK – 1
As a Junior Product Analyst in the organization Titan Travel, the main role is to write
management report on scope of UK and worldwide tourist’s destinations. For this purpose
five different tourists destinations will be analysed significantly and related statistics in terms
of income and visitor’s generator will be explained briefly.
1.1 Main tourist destinations and generators of the world in relation with income and number
of visitor’s generator
Tourist destination is being defined as a term which is utilized intensely for defining
those places where visitors visits mostly due to their historical development, cultural values,
natural scenic beauty, climate and many more (Bansal and Eiselt, 2004). There are many
destinations in the world which has highest number of visitors and income generated from the
same and these are being defined below:
UK is one of the most visited destination of the world and it offers many
purposes to tourists to visit this place. Every year, it attracts more than 15
million people from all across the world and is quite famous for its rich

UK culture, royal palaces, cathedrals and castles. It includes many famous
places such as Tower of London, Buckingham palace, The British Museum
etc. Further, it also generates about 2.5 billion pounds of income every
year and contributes the same in the economy of the nation (UK Tourism
facts and figures, 2018).
France
In the year 2013, around 84.7 million people visited France but it ranks
third in relation with revenue generation. It is quite known for its scenic
beauty, remarkable gardens and beaches. The popular places includes
Paris, Strasbourg and Lyn. It generated income about 77.7 billion Euros
towards the GDP (Lynch and Tinsley, 2001).
Istanbul
This is quite vibrant place and is being located in Turkey which is popular
for its rich culture, churches, mosques and heritage. In the year 2014,
Istanbul has attracted 37.8 million tourists and generated income of around
30 billion dollars from the domestic as well as the international tourists
(Global Report on City Tourism, 2018).
China
China has grabbed the profitable position in the ranking of world tourism
and has also witnessed increase in the inbound tourism with each passing
year. In the year 2014, there were around 133.8204 million tourists who
visited China and has supported around 5810.7 Billion in nation’s GDP.
United States
US is quite famous for its landmarks, entertainment ventures and natural
wonders. Around 69.8 million people visited US in the year 2014 and
generated income of around 10.9 billion US dollars.
1.2 Statistics to identify tourism destination trends and future trends
Within in travel and tourism industry, trends and emerging changes are regarded as
the driving force. The demand of tourism is increasing all across the globe. Pertaining to this,
it is essential to evaluate these trends and adapt efficient strategies so that proper flow of
tourist numbers can be maintained (Richards, 2001). The current and future trends are
influencing opportunities and threats for the destinations. Concerning this, future predication
of destinations is quite essential. In the current task, destination UK is being focussed.

The statistical data of the destination UK is directing the current trends that are
significantly influencing over the destination. Service of travel and tourism sector is majorly
impacting by the increase demand of the leisure tourism (Evans, Stonehouse and Campbell,
2012). Further, there has been modification in the tourism product development planning due
to increase in the spending of leisure tourism instead of business tourism.

The above graph can help in order to study the trend in the spending of the tourists in
regards with tourist destinations in UK. The graph depicts that the spending of the visitors
arriving in UK has increased significantly in the last few years and is also estimated to

increase in the same manner in the coming future year as well. According to the graph, in the
year 2013 visitors have spent around 20750 pounds on their holidays. This shows that there
that there string growth in the tourists within UK and has reached the record breaking level.
Pertaining to this, the travel and tourism sector will contribute more towards the GDP of the
economy and will lead to growth in the nation’s economy (Frechtling, 2012).

For the purpose of evaluating the cultural, social as well as physical features of tourist
destination two destinations such as UK and France is being taken under consideration. The

protection in terms of finance which can be given by developed countries towards
maintenance of tourist destinations is far more in comparison to the developing economy. For
this comparison two developed nations such as UK and France will be compared to two
developing nation i.e. India and Brazil. Talking in reference with UK and France, the society
is quite developed and shows the characteristics of equality (Cooper and et.al, 2008).
Whereas the society in the developing nations like Indian and Brazil is quite poor and depicts
the picture of inequality. Both these nations are also not open to accept culture of the tourists
coming from other nations of the world and often create conflicts at time. Further, Indian and
Brazil also faces problems while preserving and protecting their heritage tourism sector,
whereas in developed nation the picture is reverse. Developed nations like UK and France are
financially strong and thus they possess potential efficient resources being required for
further growth of the industry. On the other hand, developing nations like India and Brazil are
still lacking financial resources and this is the major hurdle for the growth of tourism industry
in these nations. Furthermore, the purpose of tourism also affect it in both developed as well
as developing nation. In India and Brazil, the main purpose of tourism is primary for leisure
that brings in visitors only in seasons. On the other hand, there are different purpose of

tourist which prefer to visit in developed nations is more than these developing nations
because developed nations like UK and France offer many other opportunities to visitor as
well. Developed economies such as United Kingdom and France have many benefits over
other nations in relation with support of the government for development of infrastructure so
as to attract more visitors (Boniface, Cooper and Cooper, 2012). Further, the government is
also aware of the fact that to support tourism industry, world class infrastructure is required to
be built so that large group of visitor can be attracted towards varied places. However, this is
not the case in India and Brazil. The government of these developing nations sometimes fails
to pay attention towards infrastructure and ultimately influence the overall growth of tourism.

4.1 Analysing issues affecting the popularity of tourist destinations
Tourism is the largest industry for UK and US. Each and every year, numerous
visitors from many parts of the world are attracted towards these nations due to their natural
beauty, entertainment ventures, heritage value, historical monuments and rich culture
(Tourism as an economic development tool, n.d). However, there are many issues and
challenges that are being faced in the development and promotion in the nation that
significantly influence the popularity of these countries. Some of these issues are being
discussed underneath:
Fluctuations in currency – Throwing light in relation with tourism, it is nothing but a
type of export from the economic point of view. In simple words, people coming to
United Kingdom and United States spends lot of money in purchasing goods and
services and increase the revenue of the economy. The government of both the nations
makes significant efforts for promoting domestic tourism so that people are
encouraged to go for holidays within the nation (Mirbabayev and Shagazatova, n.d).
The currency exchange rate of a nation has direct influence on the cost of going to a
place in that nation. For example, when value of pound of United Kingdom is weak
against another currency than tourists will prefer to come to UK. In past few years,

the value of pound is stronger than dollar and it is more likely that British people will
visit to US.
Economic situation – It is also very vital factor. Nation having strong economy is
more likely to invest more towards tourism sector. Nations which are developed can
also build new infrastructure and support the tourism sector by public sector. For
attracting more tourist than can also invest heavily on promotional campaigns. Visit
Britain is the one example which have been established for promotion of tourist
destinations in UK.
Climate – Climatic disaster can badly influence the tourism industry of any nation.
They can even destroy and damage the tourist destination. For example, Hurricane
took place in 2003 has badly affected Grenada. Tsunami has affected 12 nations of the
world. Thus, because of such disasters the infrastructure of the nation gets affected
and the visitor never intent to come to such places again (Conrady and Buck, 2011).
Further, in UK if the summer is quite hot than this will highly influence in the

If such happenings takes place in any region than people feel insecure and unsafe and

Talking in reference with the responsible tourism, it is being referred as the travel that
helps in supporting decreasing the impact that damages the ecological aspects, financial
resources and many other elements related to society. Further, it helps in improving the
conditions of the tourist destinations in terms of business accessibility and operational aspects
(Spenceley, 2012). Potential characteristics needs to be focussed by the responsible tourism
for the purpose of promoting their tourism as well as to render different benefits to the
tourists and native country. Each and every destinations have their varied potentials which
needs to be used by their government so as to promote their tourism and decrease their
negative elements. In addition to this, for the betterment of tourism sector, it is vital on the
part of government to take corrective measures or actions because they are required to make
improvement in their infrastructure, renovate and maintain their tourist destinations. In this
regards, they are required to hire local people and residents and develop job opportunities as

well as adequate level of income for them. Furthermore, the government is also required to
execute strict rules and regulations so as to safeguard their tourist’s destinations from getting
destroyed and damaged like writing, littering etc. respective government take effective
measures so as to stimulate tourism at international level by making use of modern
technology like social media, online portals etc.
Focusing towards India and Brazil, both the nations are developing and follows the
features such as warm nature, improved resort townships, suitable structuring, citizens are
friendly, natural attractiveness and many other kind of attraction in regards with responsible
tourism. The main accountability of the tourism sector these nations is to gather additional
income and revenue for the country. They need to pay attention on those areas that supports
in fulfilling the goals of tourism. Further, areas such as travel hubs and resorts should be
developed and sustained in a planned way.
Numerous tourist destinations exist in the whole world and thus, there is a need to
have proper positioning of plans and procedures so that number of tourist visiting India and
Brazil can be increased. There should be prerequisite for security of the local citizen and
tourists as well (Buckley, 2012). In addition to this, there is a need of security in relation with
the social, economic, cultural, environmental, aesthetic scenarios, etc. in regards with
responsible tourism. Thus, it can be said that there is a need to have cooperation and support
from the parties that have some or the other relation with the tourism and tourists.
Responsible tourism also offers assistance by providing jobs to local people and even tourists
has to become responsible and organize camps for donations and charities during their trips
for poor people.

Thus, overall it can concluded that travel and tourism is a sector that has grown by
leaps and bounds over the last decade. But pertaining to this growth and success, there are
many challenges and issues that have come up. Thus, it is vital for the companies engaged in
such sector to make sure that proper focus is given in regards with the balanced approach of
tourism development of destinations. In addition to this, in the current research report, the
future of the tourism trend has been researched in the UK by evaluating the increasing inflow
of tourists in the nation. It was found that London is the major source of inflow of tourists
due to its heritage as well as cultural importance. Consequently, it can be concluded that
tourist destination management is quite vital and thus, it is crucial to manage the tourists
destination suitably by the stakeholders that are directly and in-directly involved in the
